Axel lifted his arms to catch him, sliding his arms around him as the boy slumped against his chest. The smile on his face slowly faded away and he looked down at him, quietly, tilting his head to one side as if he were a curious animal.

Clutching him tighter, he shut his eyes then, and the two of them faded out of the night with only a few sparks of dwindling light.
