In which we hope Sasuke does not kill a certain Monkey-esque kid [Completed]
Character(s): Edgar, Goku, Hakkai, Tidus, and Sasuke
Content: The active party gets complicated with the additions of Hakkai and Edgar. (Wasn't Goku just going for food?)
Setting: The Actua Are lobby and then their room, first door to the left and at the end of the hall
Time: Monday night. (The five members of the Dirty Half-Dozen unites! To...uh...advance to Tuesday! Or Wednesday, better yet.)
Warnings: Hyperactiveness and a (most likely) disgruntled and/or upset Sasuke.
The dynamic duo of Edgar and Goku had finally reached the hotel. (It was a bit later than expected due to a tragic incident involving a dead end, a puddle, and a cake, but the less spoken of that the better.) They eventually arrived, relatively dry and relatively tired, relieved and perhaps having second thoughts about the unexpected partnership. Too late now, anyway!
Goku had filled up the silence by pestering poor Edgar with questions about Figaro, Edgar's friends, and anything else Edgar might have unintentionally let slip during their conversation. In turn, Goku had returned the favor by regaling the besieged king with tales of Shangri-la, food, Sanzo, Gojyo and Hakkai, and monks in general. He had ran out of stories quickly, and either through his own initiative or through the persuasiveness of Edgar had decided to talk about his two...friends: Sasuke and Tidus.
Sasuke being what he was, there wasn't much that Goku said about him aside from a frustrated, "He seems like he could be alright, but he's just a jackass. I dunno what's up with him!"
Tidus led to more conversational gambits for the monkey-child to explore.
"...and they've got these things called 'shoopufs' in Spira," he was saying, as they entered the lobby of the hotel, Goku's voice rising with the relief at finally coming 'home' and the hope that Sasuke picked up food while he was out. (As unlikely as that was.) "Tidus said they're used to cross some river, though I don't see why they can't just use a boat." He paused, and thoughtfully added, "Do you think they taste good?"
Goku's voice cut into the white noise of the lobby like a chainsaw.

He caught up with Goku, idly tucking a stray bit of hair out of his face as he stared blankly ahead of him, letting Goku's voice wash over him.

This was when Goku actually saw someone he knew.
He had to blink once, twice...if the crowds were larger, it would've been easy for Goku to miss seeing Hakkai, but the healer did stand out. But there was something of the Everyman around Hakkai which (in a place like Paixao) made him stand out in metaphors which Goku didn't really care about, he was just surprised. But in a good sense.
And so it was that poor Edgar, if he was paying attention, heard Goku say, "But I guess you can cook them and...Hakkai? Hakkai!" And the king was left behind in swift monkey movement as he dashed over to Hakkai's side, as subtle as an elephant charging.

Watching the two of them made Edgar feel suddenly homesick. He wondered if he'd get a reunion like that with Sabin or Locke. If he'd get back to them, or if they'd show up here as well. He didn't want to interfere, so he just stayed where he was, watching Goku and Hakkai with a slightly lonely expression, absently brushing a bit of hair from his eyes.

"I've been wandering around since I've been in this weird place, lookin' for you an' Gojyo an' Sanzo. But I met these other guys! Tidus and Sasuke. You'd like them!" Pause. "...even if Sasuke's kinda angry, like Sanzo." He paused again, wanting to ask if Hakkai knew where Sanzo was, if Gojyo was around, if Hakkai knew a way back: Hakkai was always the smart, rational, grounded one of the bunch, and if anyone knew anything, he would. But Goku wasn't quite ready to handle the truth.

"Hakkai right? Goku told me a bit about you." But... he didn't quite remember what it was Goku had said. He'd mentioned several names, and Edgar was never very good with them. He never forgot a face, but names? Realizing he'd started spacing out again,Edgar held out his hand. "Edgar Figaro. Goku and I just met today, actually."
Arr! Five seconds of crap! To me maties Dead-Hand Tidus and Bloody Sassy! Away!
And nevermind the fact that most likely Sasuke would kill him first, and then Edgar, and then Hakkai, and then Tidus just because.
"Come on! You guys gotta meet them!"
And he was off, hurrying down a nearby corridor with the intent on having the past meet the present, most likely dragging Hakkai specifically with him by the arm and ignoring 'slow down' remarks. It wasn't that far away, anyway. Same floor and all that. Of course, Tidus and Sasuke had no idea of what was coming...did they?

He had stayed in their room all day, looking through the backlogs of the machina network. There were many people like them, stranded and alone. Their messages spoke of confusion and anger and loneliness. And of course there was Yuna's promise of arrival, which filled him with excitement. The one person he wanted to see the most was on her way, and he couldn't wait for her arrival. This excitement distracted him for a long time from thinking of his other needs, such as eating, so that when he came to a stopping point, he found he was starving. The only problem was that he didn't have any money to get food with, and asking Uchiha for yet more charity was...excessive.
His thoughts were interrupted with the sound of someone returning to the room. That loud of a voice could only belong to Goku. Maybe he had found a friend! He'd been gone for an awful long time, anyway. He watched the door curiously to see who would be revealed.

However, whether Tidus had realized he had returned was another story. Rather than enter the room via the door, like most people, the Snake Prodigy had slipped up onto the balcony soundlessly, where he had remained for the duration of his return. Why bother the blond when he was obviously no help to him in his current task at the moment? [Not to mention, he really didn't want to endure any awkward talk about Yuna...well any talk at all really.] Being left alone with his thoughts, a rare thing with Goku around, was the one thing he had needed the most.
And now that was about to be destroyed. Keen hearing picked up on the noisy babblings of the monkey boy well before the door creaked open. Resigning himself to his fate, Sasuke stood up, drew the tattered sun-worn cloak around his body, and stepped into the room.
::eyes the bullet:: ... ::bites:: ...... ::gets a stomach ache::
Or at least he would've, but he had apparently misplaced his keys, which caused a several second delay most likely puncuated by comments like 'Stay calm' and 'Where was the last place you saw them?' and 'Are you sure this is even the right room?' So it was really more like a minute before Goku, discovering that the keys had partially tumbled through a developing hole in his pocket, entered the room.
"Hey, guys!" Goku said reflexively before noticing that the greeting should be in the plural: a lucky concidence. "Man, I thought I'd never find this place again...but I found some new people! That's Edgar. We just met. And this is my friend Hakkai, we've known each other for a really really long time. He's from the same place as me."

When he caught up with them at the door, Edgar followed them in. He offered the other occupants of the room a smile and stepped forward to shake hands when Goku introduced him.

So the blonde was Edgar. Tidus closed his machina and tucked it away, getting up from his seat on the bed to be polite and shake hands with Edgar. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Tidus." He smiled, giving Edgar's hand a firm shake.
And the dark-haired one with the softer smile was Hakkai, Goku's friend from his realm. To him, Tidus offered a smile and a wave. "Nice to meet you too, Hakkai."
So now... everyone was back. What would they do, now that they were all together? Tidus was ready to offer a few suggestions, if not for the dark figure on the other side of the room. Making decisions when Uchiha felt like the...leader of this bunch...seemed like a bad idea. He'd wait for Uchiha's opinion on everything before voicing his own. Instead, he settled for saying, "Good to see you again, Goku. Did you find food after all that time away, or just friends?"

Shifting from one foot to the other, he took another step into the room. Threw a solid glance at Tidus, who still seemed wary around him. An amused smirk ghosted over his lips. Good. It would make things easier.
Once again, he turned his attention to the new-comers. Completely ignored Edgar's outstretched hand. Though he did incline his head slightly - very very slightly to Hakkai. They had yet to prove themselves to him, and Sasuke was not about to trust anyone he didn't directly know.
Now, where did they go from here? Lips remained sealed, eyes black pools of arrogance and defiance as they remained locked on Hakkai and Edgar. There was a brief kick of his head backwards, then fingers nimbly undid the clasp at his throat, releasing the hold his cloak had there. No, he wasn't relaxing, though it would appear that way. Rather, weapons were made a bit more obvious, a subtle declaration of where he had chosen to stand with them at this moment. Not wanting to fight, but willing to do so should he be challenged.
"Where are you from and how did you get here?" The obvious question. But if their stories differed in any way, he wanted...needed to know. He already knew others from the same world had been thrown here. A slight hope that he would find Itachi yet.

To Sasuke, who ignored his polite gesture completely, Edgar's brow furrowed. He let his hand fall back to his side, his heat tilted slightly. "Well...it's a pleasure to meet you anyway..." He cleared his throat awkwardly and stepped back to stand beside Goku again.

He glanced at Uchiha. There would be trouble starting soon. "Can't we share stories later? There are other matters to take care of first. I don't know if any of you guys have eaten already, but I haven't, and I am starving!" He shared a quick grin with Goku. "Maybe we could take care of that first!"

With another contemptuous kick of his head, Sasuke turned quickly on his heel. That was the other thing...couldn't these people hold out? Consumed with his drive to find out information - namely anything pertaining to his brother, even anyone from Konoha for that matter - he had neglected to find a place for food. He knew, however, that at some point he too was going to have to cave in and follow the same suggestion. All this time....He had been so close...so damn close to ending it all.
"Do whatever you want," he growled, blatantly irritated. Threw a cold glance over his shoulder at the group. How could he possibly enjoy himself, relax even, when it had all been torn from his hands only days before? And now it truly seemed like there was no way out of this place. Just a matter of learning to adapt and live. What was he going to do when all that he had lived for no longer existed here?
