Because it's Totally Cool to Barge into Rooms [Active]

Character(s): Nina Tucker, Haku, Naruto
Content: Nina's wandering around the hotel. There's an open door; she walks in.
Setting: Actua Are
Time: night
Warnings: none

Nina wasn't about to leave the hotel, but the day's excitements left her too wound up to sleep. So, leaving Alexander to watch the room, she had let herself out and started looking around. The hotel was big, and there were lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore! Every door she had seen so far was closed, though, so when she spotted an open one, she ran to it immediately.

Poking her head through the door, she looked to see who was inside. It was nice to meet new people, after all. "Hello?"

With Naruto asleep, Haku had settled in to keep watch over things, and had left the door open to monitor the comings and goings of the people on the floor. He wasn't quite sure if Zetsu and Deidara would come back, but it never hurt to have the door open for them when, if, they did return. It didn't come as a surprise to have someone at the door. The surprise came from the age of the girl standing there. Surely there was someone to watch her? Haku didn't quite think she should be out wandering on her own.

"Hello," the effeminate shinobi replied in greeting. "Are you lost?" He offered Nina a smile.

Naruto had been asleep pretty much the entire day, having been sick and all the other events that had occurred had left him completely drained. Haku's presence had been a comfort at least, Naruto knew he could trust him and the effeminate ninja seemed to be his only comrade in this city full of Akatsuki members. His sleep might have lasted until the next morning had it not been for the voices that reached his ears and pulled him out of his slumber.

Sitting up, he stretched himself out and listened more carefully for a moment. Haku was talking so there was definitely someone there. Gingerly he got out of bed and moved over to the next room to see who it was.

"Whossat?" He asked, not bothering to suppress the huge yawn that was coming as he rubbed his eyes sleepily.

"I see," Haku commented, watching the little girl before him. "My name is Haku. What are you doing wandering about by yourself so late at night?"

He glanced at Naruto as the blond joined them, offering his friend a smile. The effeminate shinobi was glad that Naruto had gotten some rest, and he already looked better than he had before. Much better.

And when Nina asked if they were married... the automatic answer was "No!"

Naruto gave them both a lazy grin in return and it took a while until what Nina said had truly sunken in, the grin quickly replaced by something akin to an utterly embarrassed expression when it did.

"M-MARRIED!? N-No, Haku's a guy!" This statement was accompanied by lots of unnecessary flailing which probably just made him look like a spaz. At least it was an indication he was back to good health and being energetic as usual. Although Naruto wasn't thinking about his health at the moment.

Did it really look they could be a married couple?

Haku couldn't help but laugh at both Naruto and Nina. The blond's reaction was quite amusing, and Nina was just cute.

"Of course I'm a boy. Appearances can be deceiving," he told Nina. "And deception is a ninja's best friend." He smiled and shook his head. "We're just staying here for the time being. Like everyone else around here, we need a place to cool our heels."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure he is," Naruto muttered, rubbing his head awkwardly. He really couldn't blame Nina though, he had made the same mistake when he first met Haku after all. Still, mistaking someone for a girl was different than mistaking two people to be married. Especially considering both he and Haku hadn't even reached twenty yet. They were too young to be married.

"I was sick," he replied to the comment and nodded at Haku's answer, it'd be weird living in a hotel.

"We are," Haku agreed, amused by how readily this little girl had accepted the fact that he wasn't actually a woman. Leave it to children to accept that which adults did not. He watched her go over to Naruto. It was cute. Very cute.

"I helped fix Naruto-kun up while he was sick," he told Nina. "I don't like to see my friends feeling under the weather."

"Yup! And I'm gonna be Hokage, that means I'll be the strongest ninja of the my village." Naruto grinned, never missing a moment to blurt out his dream and hopefully impress someone.

"I'm fine now, Haku took care of me," he chuckled and returned the gesture by ruffling her hair. Well, Zetsu had too but he wasn't about to explain the plant-man to a four-year-old girl. The Jinchuuriki had to admit that this kid was quite endearing.

"Hehe," Haku said. Innocent as Nina's words may have been, they seemed otherwise, especially after her comment about marriage.

"I'm sorry your father isn't here," Haku told Nina. "A lot of people seem to be missing family members and friends here. Maybe you can find some good friends to take care of you until you go home?"

[identity profile] narutimate.livejournal.com 2008-04-14 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Naruto...had no idea how to respond to that, other than just awkwardly scratching his head. Although he didn't have to worry about that for long as Nina started to look sad and sad children were a nono. He quickly knelt down to her level and put on his most comforting face.

"I'm sure you'll find your dad someday. Isn't anyone taking care of you now?" The thought of a four-year old being alone was a worrying one.

[identity profile] icemirrors.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Haku smiled. It was good to hear that Nina had people with her to watch and protect her. He would have been concerned if the four-year-old didn't. A child shouldn't be wandering this place alone, after all. The effeminate shinobi couldn't help but wonder why and how a little girl could end up in this place alone. He supposed that it was just the nature of the city, as it seemed to draw people from various places and times with no concern for a natural balance, or the needs of those people.

"If you'd like us to be your friends, I have no objections," he told her.

[identity profile] narutimate.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Naruto had no idea who the people were Nina was talking about but it was a relief to hear she wasn't alone, his face showed it too. Considering the unpredictable cruel nature of the city, kidnappings, poisoned water and the like, he probably shouldn't be surprised to see an outsider-child here but he still was. This was no place for a kid like her.

"Of course! You get to be the friend of the future-hokage!"

[identity profile] icemirrors.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Haku couldn't help but smile, and he patted Nina's shoulder when she hugged him. Children were so easy to please when they were civilians. And a lot of times, he hoped that many of them never walked the path of the shinobi. It tended to ruin lives, tear families apart...

"A Hokage is the leader of Konoha, the village where Naruto-kun is from," Haku told Nina. "The leader of my village is called the Mizukage. They're the most powerful ninja in the village."

[identity profile] narutimate.livejournal.com 2008-04-24 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Standing up now with a kid clinging to his leg wasn't a very good idea so Naruto remained in his crouched position as he gave Nina a bright grin. He could see why Iruka liked working with kids, although not all kids were as cute and well-mannered as Nina.

"Yup! Also the strongest ninja in the village," he nodded enthusiastically.
