I Fought the Law... [complete]

Character(s): Gabranth
Content: A Judge Magister arrives in Paixao.
Setting: Muspelheim Gate
Time: Late afternoon
Warnings: None

To say that the explosion caused by the destruction of the Sun Cryst had been violent would have been something of an understatement. A better word would have been cataclysmic - he had felt the aftershocks even aboard the Coeurl. But if the lesser nethicite shards could lay waste to an entire city then why should the source of all nethicite not hold a greater power still?

And yet it seemed that the explosion had blown him further then he had thought - this looked like no part of Ivalice that he recognized. And the Coeurl was nowhere to be seen. Not that was much of a setback, however - there was always another handy. But until he figured out exactly where he was, he would have no choice but to remain here. With the ever-present clatter of armor that followed a Judge Magister he headed into the city. Or more accurately, into the line that led into the city. Lines. To get into a city. The very concept seemed mad. Little for it now though, as he was handed a small device and ushered on into the city proper and into a veritable sea of people.

...A sea of people, many of whom seemed to turn to stare as he passed. But that was to be expected - Judge Magisters were the law and no one escaped their judgment. But in a strange place like this that very same status could well be the cause of enmity and scorn. And with no allies to back him, he could well be overpowered. One man was no match for an army after all. Perhaps then, it was time to leave behind the trappings of power for a while. And if he were do that, why then it was but a mere step further to be not himself. He'd done once before after all; once more would hardly go amiss. Doubtless a place such as this would have somewhere to find more appropriate garments. And with that in mind, he set off, the clatter of armor following him as he went.
