Shopping Time [Active]

Character(s): Marona and Karst
Content: Marona meets with Karst and they go shopping. /o/ Whoo~! And she finds out Ash is back. :O
Setting: Actua Are (J7) then g'ol Auntie Unde's
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: Nada~!

It had been quite a few weeks now since Marona had first met Karst. In a way it felt like far more time had past than it had in fact had, since that first meeting. She was so relieved that she had offered to allow Marona to join her since Jintetsu was obviously eager to depart off somewhere with someone he'd seemed to know that they met outside the festival who had introduced himself to Marona as Kenshin.

Marona wasn't exactly sure when the two had left that morning, but they were gone by the time she'd woken up. She spent some of the day in the company of the innkeeper, before she'd set where to meet Karst.

Packing up her few belongings since arriving here, Marona sat outside on a step to the inn, waiting patiently. Today was a nice day, and the chroma felt a little bit happier with it. She still missed Ash something awful, but she felt like she could smile today. She'd find a way home to Ash as soon as she could, or maybe Ash would come back here.

Yes, today was going to be a good day, she felt sure of it.

Karst was late. It was strange. She hadn't really had a sense of time before coming to Paixao-- urgency, certainly, but not really of time. Now, though, she knew enough of time to know that she was late for her meeting with Marona, and she didn't want to cause the younger girl any troubl-

In a moment worth seeing to believe, the Fire Clan girl misstepped on a curb and pitched forward in a classic tripping sequence, the bag containing what money she'd amassed scattering. Thankfully, the people of Paixao were mindless and friendly enough to help her pick up the coins, but now Karst knew to watch her step better as she ran.

Anyone from Weyard, Ivan included, who saw her now wouldn't believe that this klutz was the same girl who had been so single-mindedly bent on killing Isaac and avenging her sister, but again, Paixao had changed Karst. Of course there were the obvious, physical changes-- her hair had grown out a bit, and her figure was finally showing signs of existance (albeit not much). More importantly, though, were her attitude changes. She had become more willing to approach and talk to people-- and to make friends with people she ordinarily wouldn't have looked at twice.

One of which was sitting on a step outside the Actua Are inn now. "Hello, Marona!" Karst called loudly, waving her free hand and using the other to hold her bag closed. "I brought all the money I have! Let's go!"

Karst had discovered a wonderful function of her journal that let her see where she was on the map, which kept her from getting lost quite so easily as she tended to do. The streets were straight and at perfect angles, and maybe it was the grid that had perplexed her at first, but now Karst could navigate them without thinking-- she simply needed to know which spot was a store and which was an inn, and she could find her way there. Auntie Unde's General Store was due west of the Actua Are Inn, a single straight line.

"I've been earning some coin by performing," she said conversationally as they walked. "The people around here like fireworks, and I do have a talent for fire. Maybe I should look into a more permanent job, though. It doesn't look like I'll be going home soon."

It was unusual for Karst to be this cheerful, but she didn't think she minded the strangeness. She was calmer and happier now than she had been in a long time, despite being surrounded by troubles and people getting kidnapped and sicknesses and that strange Organization that even a powerful seer like Ivan couldn't sense...

Maybe it was the thought of secrecy and the need to enjoy these little things while she still could, before war went from possibility to reality. Maybe it was something about the city itself. Maybe it was someone she'd met-- she quickly turned her head away from Marona, hiding both an unwarranted grin and a pink blush sneaking across the bridge of her nose.

Karst didn't even notice the green-haired girl's distress. If Marona were to ask another Adept-- Alex wasn't around, but Ivan had more than a little experience with fire-users-- they could probably tell her that Mars Adepts as a rule tended to be a little insensitive.

Auntie Unde's General Store was as cluttered and tacky as it always had been. Looking up, Karst couldn't even tell any more which of the ceiling supports was the one the first Ed Elric (and his armored brother) had fixed up after the earthquake. The bland shopkeeper didn't appear to recognize them and merely waved. But they weren't here for old times' sake-- Karst's short skirt had been very slightly splitting a seam as her figure was (finally!) coming in, and all her running around was only making it worse.

"I need to look at some new clothes," she said cheerily to Marona. "I'm going to grow out of these any day now. Help me look?"
