Bomb Ninja Loose in Paixao [Complete]
Character(s): Deidara, Haku
Content: Deidara arrives in Paixao!
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: mid-morning
Warnings: Deidara likes to blow things up. Possibly language.
Deidara froze as the scenery seemed to pop in around him, replacing what had been there before. He had been in a forest--now he stood before two giant trees leading into a building of some sort. This was certainly nowhere he'd been before, and there was no sign of Tobi, either. The clay between his fingers wasn't moved as the shinobi checked for any threats. There were none apparent, although he was still uneasy; something unusual had happened.
There were a line of people in front of the gate, most of them blond-haired and blue-eyed. If that reflected the populace any, Deidara would fit right in (aside from his clothing, but really, that never exactly fit in anywhere). After a moment his muscles relaxed, the clay returning to its pouch. The line before him filtered into the city, and Deidara debated only a moment before hopping in line himself, curiosity getting the better of him.
He didn't think this was a hidden village, at least. Certainly he would have heard of a place like this, unless it was kept extraordinarily well-hidden. The guard only spared him a cursory glance. There was certainly no recognition--Deidara didn't think he was in the same world anymore (just how that happened he had no idea).
"Name?" he asked, sounding entirely bored.
"Deidara," he said; perhaps a fake name would have been better, but how could you hide your identity as a member of Akatsuki when you had a uniform?
He was handed a stack of brochures and a thin orange machine of some sort. "Welcome to Paixao. Here's your journal and some information on the city," the guard said, and then turned his attention to the next person in line.
Obviously he wasn't going to answer any questions, and starting a fight over something so trivial would be stupid. Deidara merely stepped inside and inspected what he'd been given, keeping an eye on the surrounding area just in case. After he was done playing with the journal, he thought he might scout the city via flying clay bird.
He leaned casually against the side of the dome for now, rather amused with this new device, but still keeping an eye on the surrounding area, just in case.

Haku had, after his memories returned, taken to fixing his hair back up and retying his hitai-ate. He'd had it off for a rather long time now, almost since he had arrived in this city. Right now, it was a comfort and a blessing, a reminder of who he was, what he did, and why it was so. And he didn't want to lose it. Not on the off chance that his memories might become lost again.
The boy dropped down off of the rooftops that he had been traversing, landing with trained grace just before Vanaheim Gate, and straightened, glancing around him. Hopefully, he hadn't startled any of the civilians around this time. The last time he dropped in like that, he had scared someone, someone who seemed just as ready to rend him in two as anything else, though Haku had to question his capability. That had been just before he lost his memories, and he hoped that dropping in, in the first place, hadn't been the catalyst.

Just his luck, to be only minutes into an entirely different world and come across someone who might recognize him, or at least his outfit. His hands rested on clay, though, so he wasn't terribly worried. The choice, then, became whether to call out to this girl or simply wait and see what she would do.
Deidara never was one to wait for long. He put on his usual grin. "Guess I'm not the only one here from my world, un."
no subject
"It's a safe enough assumption to make," Haku replied. He was watching Deidara for any sign of hostility, and wishing, not for the first time, that he still had his mask. "There are a lot of people here, and many who come and go without rhyme or reason. I couldn't tell you how many of us there are here. You're the first I've met in person."
It was true. He had spoken with other shinobi over the journals, mostly Zetsu. As such, Haku had no real idea of how many ninja were actually in the city.
no subject
"I just got here," he said. "Can't say I know much about who's here yet, un. Who are you, anyway?"
He had spoken to Itachi through the journals... But that had just created a thousand more questions. Zetsu-san was somewhere, apparently, but that hardly helped him.
no subject
"I've been here for a while," Haku noted. "Still don't know who's here." Other than that Zabuza hadn't show up yet, to his knowledge. He pondered whether or not it was quite wise to divulge his name, but with who he had already told, it wouldn't seem to make a difference.
"My name is Haku. And you are?" It was only fair that Haku get Deidara's name in return.
no subject
"Deidara," he said as casually as he could manage--the kunoichi's hitai-ate was from Kirigakure; had it been from Iwagakure he would have lied, but then again, he would have been recognized at this point. "Been here for a while and still on your own, un?" His tone was neutral--making conversation was preferable right now.
no subject
"I suppose you could say that," Haku agreed. "I've met many different people since I arrived here." He shrugged. "I haven't really kept up on who comes and who goes, though. At least, not beyond the people who I met before."
Haku looked thoughtful for a moment. "I'm quite familiar with the layout of the city, considering how long I've been here. I've traversed it many times, with different people, and for different purposes." Any altercation between them would have to be started by Deidara. Haku wasn't one for starting fights.
no subject
"Like I said, I just got here," he said, and softened his smirk into something of a smile. "I was going to scout the area anyway, but I wouldn't object to company, un."
What could he say? Deidara never did like spending too much time on his own (it made him talk to his sculptures even as he blew them up), and he had grown accustomed to having a partner. In an unknown place with unknown dangers, any ally was a good one, especially someone who knew the area. There must be a map in all the papers he'd been given, but he hadn't yet checked.
His stomach grumbled, and he grinned wider. "Wouldn't object to food, either, un."
no subject
Haku offered a smile in return. It seemed to him like the former Iwa-nin had encountered the right person upon his arrival. "I could show you around." He couldn't help the snicker upon hearing Deidara's stomach grumble. No, food wouldn't go amiss, either. "And I know where we can find food, too."
No, Haku wouldn't mind having company for a while. It would be a nice change of pace to have someone who was familiar with the shinobi lifestyle, and the place he was from.
