Foundation Day Festival: Food Tent

Character(s): everyone in the food tent
Content: food, and lots of it.
Setting: Joco da Crianca Fairgrounds, food tent
Time: all day~
Warnings: Multithreaded posting format (please include time of day and sub-location in your comment's subject line)

The food tent is the second biggest structure at the fair, next to the Ferris wheel. It's a large white tent set up near the far end of the grounds. Inside, the majority of the tent is filled with long tables (with white plastic tablecloths) and benches for seating.

The food, along one side of the tent, is set up buffet-style. They have a wide variety of hot and cold dishes, and it's all good stuff, having been catered by Café Ersesat. It's always well-stocked, too, somehow; if they run out of anything, it's replenished within a few minutes. There is also a small bar, where alcoholic drinks and cocktails are available upon request to anyone who looks old enough.

Free! Free, at last! His mind cried out triumphantly as he heard his name called from miles away by the young maiden. Out of all the idiotic nonsense he had dealt with over the journals, only one individual proved to be of any use when saying his name those three essential times. It was almost instantly he could feel his power returning to him by this. His fists clenched while a rather frightful look of satisfaction crawled across his features. Already he had a few ideas as of what he wanted to do now that he had returned to his rightful status. Of course, much to his dismay, those plans would have to wait. As the rules demanded of him upon being summoned, he had a meeting with a particular girl before anything else.

Falling through the ground, the ghost's expression changed into a far more smug grin. This would be his method of transportation to Alice's current location; underground. It would also double as a part of his great entrance. He always had to have some form of dramatic entry, especially when dealing with a client.

Now, where was that girl?

Alice had politely excused herself from said company and was looking around. Imagine, being talked to like that for suggesting something LOGICAL! The very idea that some ribboned, prissy little tart tried to suggest that she back down just because her ideas were flawed! Honestly!

But there was still a little hope. She had not forgotten that she had made a summons only a little while ago to that rather strange man, the exorcist if living or something of that nature. Yes, she would allow Death to continue to palaver with his associates, but that didn't mean she had to be bored all the way.

She looked around, waiting.

Betelgeuse was hardly one of patients. What he lacked of them though he greatly made of with his rudeness. And after much waiting to have his name called, it was obvious what small quantity remain of them was running quickly. However, Alice was surprisingly easy to spot. It delighted him to see her so eager to meet him. He was partly excited himself. She didn't appear quite like everyone else he'd seen. It greatly enticed his curiosity as he approached from below her feet.

Alright, this was it. Make 'em scream!

The beautifully lit blue sky above the festival food tent slowly began to fade to a dark shade of grey, storm clouds rolling in obstructing the sun's ray to create a darker more appropriate atmosphere. The earth began to shake, almost growl as it forcefully began to raise before the girl. It appeared as if something was trying to get out, pounding at the ground from below.

It was then a pale hand punched its way through the surface. Its long red fingernails clawing against the dirt as an arm followed Another hand quickly shot through the ground, but it clutched Alice's leg instead of the dirt being the closest to her. A sharp tug was given upon contact, the ground unwillingly tearing open beside her sending dirt flying as a large figure emerged.

The demon towered over her, his hands raised, fingers curling to show his long sharp nails as if preparing to rip her apart. His tongue stretched out, taking the form of a cobra that curled itself around the brunet bearing its fangs threateningly. It hissed while the ghost produced a laugh as venomous as the snakes bite.

Alice was certainly not sure what to expect, but it had not been something like this. She didn't scream of course: the ability to do that had long since been gone from her. However, someone like her could still appreciate good work. In all truth, now that she was away from the cheeriness of the carnival and the food and the happy feelings, she felt her heart rise a little.

After all, wasn't it something like this that really spoke to her? Hadn't she herself stepped into a realm where all of those things seemed virtually inconsequential? Sure, she had entertained the notion of becoming a normal girl when Chizuru was around. It had been a nice dream, appropriate with holdings hands and kissing and all of that. But something like this: being near to an untimely death, leg being held by a suspect character, hands close to her throat...this was HER. It was just so halloween!

Alice cleared her throat, trying to hide the smile creeping onto her face. "Beetlegeuse, I presume?"

He stood silent for a moment, taken back by the girls reaction. There wasn't so much as a squeak that escaped her. No plea's of help, crying, struggling, nothing. As far as he could see, she looked surprisingly pleased. He could see the smile inching across her features, beginning to mirrored it. There was something he liked about this girl already.

She reminded him of Lydia. Little Lydia Deetz, the teenage goth who had moved into the Maitlands old home with her father and stepmother. There was some fascination she held with the dead. If he recalled correctly, she had actually become friends with the Maitlands after their many failed attempts at scaring her. Of course, Adam and Barbara were horrible ghosts. They couldn't scare as much as a mouse. But that was hardly the point. There was no time to get to the actual point, not with the girl already ruining the moment by speaking his name.

Betelgeuse hissed through his teeth when hearing it, throwing a hand over Alice's mouth immediately after to prevent another word from being spoken. The cobra slithered out of his mouth, loosening its hold of the brunet. However, to prevent her from feeling to much freedom, the bio-exorcist brought his arm around her shoulder and pulled himself in closer to make up for the snakes presents.

"Let's not be throwin' around the 'B' word, little lady." he said, slowly removing his hand from Alice's face. A small chuckle was given, a revolting stench escaping from his mouth. And when he smiled oh so horridly, his rotting teeth appeared to explain the odor perfectly. "Just call me BJ."

Alice smiled gently, cocking her head to the right side. So he was very much the slave of words. An interesting predicament, but not one that Alice could not appreciate. The...whatever he was...was bound by words and in a way, even with this show of flash, bound to her. Not very different from her Demon Dice, but in a way, VERY different. He seemed to have a sort of mischief she could not have predicted. This might be fun.

"Heaven forbid," Alice said dryly, concentrating on Beetlejuice. "But while I find the idea of addressing an individual by mere letters, I suppose I can indulge you. Tell me, 'BJ,' now that you are here, what exactly do you plan to do, hmm?"

"It's a nickname." the ghost grunted, pulling back and releasing his hold of Alice completely. He waved his hand at the sky passively, appearing to return the sky to the cheerful blue it had been before his entrance as he took a few steps in front of the girl.

"You're telling me you've never heard of anybody shortening their name before? You can't really be that stupid. What the hell are they teaching you runts these days?" Turning to face the brunet, his yellow stained smile fell crooked. He stumbled back toward her, leaning in as close to her face as possible while he brought his had back up, his broken nails reaching to graze against her cheek.

"As for what I'm ta do, to tell you the truth babes, that's up to you. You're the one who summoned me. Wouldn't mind getting to know yeah better though, if you know what I mean." At this, Betelgeuse raised his brows in a suggestive manner, snorting while doing so. "You n' me, back in my grave. We'll really shake the dirt 'round."

Pausing for a moment, he eyed Alice curiously. It was a crazy thought, but barely as crazy as him: if he married this girl as he had planned to Lydia, would he be freed of the curse he carried with his name?

Alice laughed. "Not much, I must admit! You've come from better days than I, when you think about it. Can you imagine stuff upper crusts, adjusting their monocles at the very sight of you? I assure you, that is the world I come from. But you need not fear. I will have nothing to do with those types of people any longer. I am far from the 'runts' you've entertained."

Alice smiled. This phantasm was RATHER personal, but it was fun. It was almost a test, in a way, to see how much she could stand. the man thought some off colour smells and a bit of rotted teeth was bad but that was bunk. Alice was not one to be scared off so easily!

"The chance for that will come, trust me. I look forward to knowing my undead companion; at the moment, we may need your skills. We have rather UNRULY party guests."

Alice smiled. "After that? we'll see how good you are at shaking the dirt about you, hmm?"

Oh, he was already taking a liking to this one. They had only just met, his true magic barely in the workings and yet he found himself terribly entertained with this 'client'. He felt as if he were working on different terms with the girl, and not just due to his interest in her. Though she was a curious type, indeed. Hearing his playful remark returned was more than enough to make him give out a deep chuckle.

"Companion?" he repeated, amused by her choice of words. "Yeah, sure, whatever you say, babes. I'll help you out. That's what I'm here for, right? I can liven up any party. I'm a real hit at funerals. You should see my ventriloquist act."

Clearing his throat, he spat into his palm, using the mucus he had gathered to slick his hair back. In doing so, he snapped his fingers, summoning a chair behind him made entirely of skulls to rest in. "So," he began, taking a seat and crossing a leg over the other. "Who do I gotta kill?"

Alice smiled. "Yes, there is something you can do for me. There seems to be a troublesome person at my tent. An impertinent person trying to get to us before our time is at hand. Your job is to convince the otherwise, or simply scare them into it. I really don't care which. They should just be punished."

Alice smiled. She hoped that would please him. She was more than sure it would please HER.

"Your 'tent', hu?" Betelgeuse eyed the bottom of the girls dress, thinking of it as the tent she had referred to. Though he already had an idea that she was not the one she had in mind and had in fact spoke of the large one beside them, it never hurt to imagine otherwise. If he the time, he would of surely attempted to sneak a peak at what lay under during their meeting as well, but they were speaking important business. He would have to wait until later to take a gander.

Smacking his lips together, the ghost looked slightly disappointed. "Teaching good manners, have I even sunk to the bottom. What'd he do, steal your lunch money?" Tapping a thoughtful finger against his cheek, he paused to look over at the tent before back to Alice. "There's an audience, is there? You did say 'us'. Which of this party of yours needs to be... Exposed of?"

Alice simply grinned. Oh, but this beetleguise would be an interesting one. He really had very little taste in etiquette at all, and he was quite playful. She wouldn't be surprised if he took a lewd gander at her.

Not that she cared. She was LONG past the time of "decency."

"We have a certain woman with rather interesting hair. She needs to be disposed of. You'll find her rather forceful, but I'm sure you'll find a way over that. In any case, I'm sure you can do it. After her will be a companion of a sort. they WILL be entertaining to fight, I assure you."

Yes. This would be interesting, for sure.

"Interesting hair, is that all I'm getting? At that rate, that could be anyone. Not that I have a problem scaring all of them in that tent. If this girl is as difficult as you make her sound, she should be easy enough to find." He linked his hands together, placing them under his chin as his elbows rested on his knees. "So should her 'companion'. But there's just one thing that's got me stumped, babes; fighting them."

A frail, seemingly aged scroll appeared in the ghosts hand as he leaned back into his chair. It unraveled almost immediately, proving itself to hold important value when displayed before Alice's face. "Take a good look, 'cause no where in my contract does it say anything about fighting nobody. Not unless I feel I like it."

The document vanished as quickly as it had appeared, ensuring that the girl would fail to read to much of its content. It broke apart, turning into a number of moths that flew off as Betelgeuse rose to his feet. The chair he had been sitting also vanished, crumbling to pieces before disappearing completely. "I'll be the one making those kind of decisions, sweetheart. Now if that's all there is... It's showtime!"

Alice smiled. Ah, so that was the rub, was it? The ghost man had a bit of an ego complex. Fascinating. But Alice had a mission to take care of and, lucky for her, she knew how it might be beneficial for this particular situation.

"Well dear, do you really think you can manage? I mean, these aren't your regular client el, are they? Why, these are the Organization members: those wretched people claim every one of us in this place. Certainly you've heard of their mischief, being a master of such things as you are? They ought to be quite hard to scare, I should think. I daresay they would consider you nothing more than another plaything."

In all truth, Alice meant every word, even if it was a bit of a stretch. The Organization members seemed to play dirty to her, kidnapping random people and torturing them. She couldn't abide by such things, remembering her treatment at the asylum. Her whole reason of summoning this chap would be her OWN little response to what Organization XIII had been doing.

Alice made a point. This organization, they didn't appear so ordinary themselves. If their reputation served them correct, he was likely to find himself in a completely different ballpark when dealing with them. Not that we actually read the message board or anything. He had only caught a glance at what they had been up to in the city, browsing quickly through the posts in search of entertainment. To say the least, from what he had gathered they were an interesting bunch. But never would they be capable of scaring the likes of him.

He growled at the thought as well as the girls words, his lips twisting into an unusual shape when he turned his back to Alice. The idea, HIM a some silly play thing... How unlikely. Never in a thousand years would he allow himself to fall into such a position. If there was blood still running through his veins, it would most certainly of begun boiling.

"Of course I can manage." Betelgeuse snapped. "You just call me when you got these two clowns of yours taken care of."

And with that, he vanished.
