Foundation Day Festival: Food Tent

Character(s): everyone in the food tent
Content: food, and lots of it.
Setting: Joco da Crianca Fairgrounds, food tent
Time: all day~
Warnings: Multithreaded posting format (please include time of day and sub-location in your comment's subject line)

The food tent is the second biggest structure at the fair, next to the Ferris wheel. It's a large white tent set up near the far end of the grounds. Inside, the majority of the tent is filled with long tables (with white plastic tablecloths) and benches for seating.

The food, along one side of the tent, is set up buffet-style. They have a wide variety of hot and cold dishes, and it's all good stuff, having been catered by Café Ersesat. It's always well-stocked, too, somehow; if they run out of anything, it's replenished within a few minutes. There is also a small bar, where alcoholic drinks and cocktails are available upon request to anyone who looks old enough.

Remy smiled, "Great! I'm glad to finally see a few other animals around here. This place doesn't seem to have anything besides a ton of humans and a random cat-person or two." Ahnassi probably wouldn't have been especially happy to hear him call her a cat again if she had been around, but Remy wasn't going to assume that anyone else had ever heard of a Khajiit before and 'cat-person' was a better descriptor for people who had never heard of her species. "Looks like they know how to throw a pretty good party, though. I don't often see this much food in one place, and I work in a restaurant!"

The rat took a nibble of his cookie, savoring the taste appreciatively. "So... Where are you two from?"

There really was a lack of animals present in the city. And those there were, well, most of them the meerkat knew. As Remy had said, humans outnumbered them greatly. However, it didn't sound as if it bothered him as much as it had Timon. Perhaps he was just more used to them? Living with humans and half the food in the tent. What a life that sounded like, especially the cuisine.

"You work in a restaurant?" he asked, thinking over what possible job Remy could serve in a local Cafe Ersesat. "What's that like?"

Jumping from Pumbaa's head onto the table beside them, Timon continued talking while gathering articles of food from the table spread for the warthog and himself to munch on.

"Me n' Pumbaa are from the Pridelands. We got better digs outside of 'em though. Compared to -Pumbaa, you want any of these?- the Pridelands, this place has got everythin'. Like you said, pal, there's plenty to eat n' nobody to eat you. -oh, these look interesting. I wonder if they come in purple..."

Returning to the end of the table, the meerkat lowered the small plate he had stacked with food to his friend. "Eat up! There's plenty more where it came from. There anythin' I can grab you while I'm up here, uh... Never got your name."

Pumbaa let Timon do the talking as he watched the meerkat load up a plate of food, his mouth practically watering at the sight of it all. Oh it looked delicious. The warthog nodnodnodded in response to Timon's question if he wanted the indicated food, "Oh, yes please!"

As the plate was lowered, Pumbaa took the stacked plate onto his snout, lowering down, then slipping it carefully off onto the ground. "Oh it looks SO good! Oh where to start!" he said gleefully, glancing over the many kinds of food before deciding on something to bite into. That something really being easily a quarter of the stack of food on the plate. Cheeks packed, he munched away happily, swallowing it down only a moment later and licking his lips. "Delicious! But.... I still miss eating bugs..." he bemoaned for a moment, pausing a moment, then just shrugged it off, "Oh well, what can you do?"

Pumbaa then returned to burrying his snout into the plate of food.

"I'm Remy," the rat said as he watched the two work on consuming a sizable chunk of the table's offerings. Obviously, he had found some people who really liked to eat! It reminded him a little of his brother, especially the comment about eating bugs. Remy tried not to make a face at that. At least bugs were better than garbage - more natural and all that. "I'm the head chef of La Ratatouille, in Paris. Or at least, I used to be... Kind of hard to work somewhere you can't get back to."

His expression turned a little unhappy at the thought. "I really miss the place. I hope they're getting along okay without me..." They would probably be okay for a little while, he assumed. At least until people started wanting something new for the chef's special...

"So... you say you're from the Pridelands?" he asked, changing the topic to something a little less worrisome for himself. "I take it that's somewhere in Africa?"

"Ratatouille? Sounds more like you're on the menu than cooking it." Timon commented while listening to Remy. His paws flew at the plates content, grabbing whatever they could before the warthog could bring his snout down onto plate again. "You know, this could be like a vacation for you." he continued, hoping to comfort their guest before stuffing his mouth with all the food he could manage.

This place that had been mentioned, Paris, it sounded like a place he wouldn't mind visiting. If the food was this good and came in this quantity, he and Pumbaa would get along with the business owners juuuust great. Assuming they were able to afford the food. Money was the last on his mind. He wondered more if humans could understand the animals there as they could in Paixao. It would explain how the rodent could gain status of chef in one of their restaurants. Head chef at that. -not that he had anything against Remy being a cook. He was actually rather curious what sort of dishes the rat could produce.

Swallowing the current mouthful of food in his mouth, the meerkat nodded. "Yeah, I think so. It's nothing like here though. There ain't so much as one human 'round, unlike this place. Plus there aren't any of those buildings around or some dome over our heads either. There's real plants, mud holes, bugs..."

He let out a wishful sigh, reminded of the little guys after the warthogs comment. However, he hadn't much time to think about them for his eyes had caught a rather surprising sight. "Pumbaa, did you take a bite outta this n' put it back?"

Pumbaa grinned widely after swallowing something from the plate, when Remy introduced himself. "Ohhh, well, pleased to meet you Remy!" he added in, before Timon continued to talk about their home.

He promptly returned to the food, tuning out Timon. Thinking of home and becoming homesick was the last thing he wanted. And, anyways, there was food to be eaten! There was SO much of it, and they all tasted so good and different. Well, mostly good. There were a few things he wasn't quite so sure about. While he might've been missing bugs, perhaps he could survive for now if they could always find food this tastely.

His feasting was interupted, however, when Timon suddenly addressed him.

The warthog looked to Timon, a little sheepishly. "Well, uhhh... maybe?" he admitted to hestiantly. Uh oh, busted.
