The fox's presence did not go unnoticed. Kovu's gaze was drawn towards the demon like a magnet, and his smile widened. This was it, the source of the darkness that he had been following. It was powerful, he was certain of that. It might even be more powerful than he was, although he would much rather put that theory to the test than just accept it as fact.

Kovu padded towards the fox demon, savoring the whispers of dark energy coming from the being. He wondered... if he killed it, could he make all that energy his own? It was an enticing thought, although possibly not the best course of action. After all, was a single powerful rush of darkness better than a perpetual, if lesser, source of it? The lion would have to think about that. What he really needed now was more information. For now, he would wait and see what to make of this new development.

"Who are you?" he inquired as he neared the other creature. His voice remained neutral for the moment, neither polite nor demanding. The fox had not yet earned his respect or his scorn.
