Sadness and Sorrow [Complete]
Character(s): Naruto and Itachi
Content: Naruto returns to the hotel after this.
Setting: Actua Are {F3}
Time: Evening
Warnings:Angsty Naruto None.
Naruto felt horrible as he opened the door to his hotel room. Although to him horrible was an understatement. He was a bundle of exhaustion, anger, frustration, shame, sadness and probably another good dose of negative feelings. He made a straight beeline for the bed without even really looking where he was going and flopped facedown on it. Burying his head in the pillow as deep as he could, he bit back tears of frustration.
He let him go, damnit! That bastard Sasuke had gotten away again. Somewhere in their chase Naruto had somehow lost him and, no matter how he tried or where he looked, couldn’t find a trace of the said bastard. Why was it that every time Sasuke was so close, he slipped away again? He had made a promise! A promise to bring Sasuke back. So why couldn’t he...?
Letting out a shuddery sigh into the pillow, he collected himself to prevent his voice from faltering. "Itachi?" came the muffled call.

Letting out a shuddery sigh into the pillow, he collected himself to prevent his voice from faltering. "Itachi?" came the muffled call.

The Uchiha heard Naruto return and looked up to see the blond collapse onto the other bed. He looked to be in bad shape, and even though he couldn't do anything to help, Itachi stood and moved to go do... something.
"Itachi?"
"I'm here, Naruto."
no subject
He would have searched day and night but Naruto knew when it was futile plus Itachi had been waiting for him at the hotel alone. Naruto had started worrying that if he left Itachi alone any longer Sasuke would go after him again.
Relaxing again, he found the strength to actually move his head and look at Itachi. Giving the Uchiha a rueful smile as he tried to find some of his cheer back. He probably looked like a mess. "You okay?"
no subject
At Naruto's smile, Itachi offered his own back. "I'm fine. A rather nice woman helped me find my way back to the hotel... What about you? You really don't look okay..."
no subject
He rolled onto his side so he had a better view of Itachi. "I'm just tired..." Running through half the city did that to you but it was more the fact that he was mentally ragged down than anything else.
no subject
Itachi continued to watch and listen. "I'm sorry, Naruto. Maybe we can go look for him later? After I get my memory back?" It was an offer of help, even if it might not do either of them any good in the end.
"And if you're tired, why don't you rest? I'm sure that a little sleep isn't going to make things any worse for you..."
no subject
Naruto nodded slowly, if Itachi would get his memory back it would make things a whole lot easier. Although he did wonder what Itachi would be like once he had his memory back. Would he still remain Naruto's friend? "Yeah, I just hope you get your memory back soon. It must be pretty hard on you too."
Naruto contemplated the thought of sleep but almost instantly dismissed it. He would love to sleep but getting to sleep was the problem. If he just laid down and do nothing he'd start thinking and Naruto had decided, a long time ago, that thinking was bad for your health. "Nah, I'll be fine. I'd rather go do something."
no subject
If Naruto were concerned about Itachi's friendship after Itachi got his memory back, he had nothing to fear. He was younger than the Itachi that had been after him, after all. "I do, too. And it is, especially when I'm getting confronted with situations where I feel like I should or need to know things."
The Uchiha regarded Naruto again. "Are you sure?"
no subject
Forgetting everything else they were talking about, he focused solely on how to bring the news to Itachi. "Not to burst your bubble but..." For some reason Naruto almost felt guilty for telling him. Itachi seemed so convinced she was a nice person. "Larxene is one of them black-coated people who's been going around kidnapping others and torturing them."
no subject
"Please listen to me." Itachi spoke carefully. If there was anything he was sure of, it was this. "I don't care who she might have hurt, or what she might have done. I'm not going to base my opinions of her on what someone else says. Not when I haven't had the negative experiences with her that other people seem to think of as prevalent.
"Let me make my own mistakes, if it comes to that."
no subject
He sighed before giving Itachi a lopsided grin. "I don't have a say in who you befriend or not, that's up to you. Just be careful around her, okay?"
no subject
"I will be." It was more than an assurance. It was a certainty. After all, he'd have his memory back, soon, right? So he'd know things he didn't know now, right?
no subject
"Good," he nodded. Deciding to fiddle with his own journal so he had something to do he opened it. Letting the silence reign for the moment as Naruto didn't know what to say further.
no subject
Restlessness was creeping in on Itachi and he shifted, still regarding Naruto. Their conversation about Larxene had side-tracked other trains of thought, and the Uchiha was considering what they had left behind.
"Naruto, you said you wanted to go do something... like what?" Conversation was better than an awkward silence reached by an agreement to disagree.
no subject
"Well," he spoke eventually. "I guess I'd like to eat something. It's a shame there doesn't seem to be ramen here." He actually felt like despairing over it, why wasn't there ramen here? It was the most wonderful food ever invented!
On the subject of food, he had stumbled upon a notice in the message board he had completely forgotten about before because of recent events. "Oh, there's gonna be a festival tomorrow. A festival with free food," he said with the best fox-like grin he could currently manage as he held up his journal. "You want to go?"
no subject
"Festival?" Itachi looked at Naruto questioningly. A festival? "I... ah, sure... Festival for what?"
no subject
He had to glance at his journal again to find the reason of the festival. The only think he had been remotely interested in was the free food and games, not the reason why there was a festival. "Foundation Day," he snapped the journal shut after finding the answer and placed it on the bedside table. "It's at the Fairgrounds, not too far from here."
no subject
Itachi looked back up at Naruto. "So, to the festival tomorrow? Should we order room service or something tonight, then?" After all, Naruto still needed to eat.
no subject
He nodded brightly at the first question, perhaps a festival would help Itachi regain his memories a bit? It sounded unlikely but hey, a little fun didn't harm anyone! He considered the room service for a moment before slowing nodding to that too. "Sure, sounds good."
{ooc: By all means! :D Where and when should we start at ze festival?}

And between them, food would be on the way, so it was more than time to relax. Itachi was looking forward to it.
