Snakes and Snails [Active]
Characters: Haku, Kaa, Oogie Boogie, Repliku
Content: Haku and Kaa take a break from their tour and meet one of Paixao's premiere guests. Repliku joins the party
Setting: Muspelheim
Time: Afternoon
As always, Haku was true to his word, and had taken to carrying Kaa around Muspelheim, pointing out some of the various landmarks that he was familiar with. It was strange how comfortable he had become with the serpent in such a short period of time, and the effeminate shinobi wasn't sure of how concerned he should be with that ease. However, he would never let Kaa know that it worried him how easily he had told the serpent the things he had. It just seemed like he was growing entirely too comfortable and complacent within this city.
Haku paused in his tour, dropping down from the roof tops he had been traversing to land in the street, startling some of the citizens as he landed in their midst. It was hard to tell what scared them more; the sudden appearance of a strangely dressed 'young woman,' or the serpent she carried. With care, Haku adjusted Kaa and shifted his chakra balance once more.
"I think it might be good to take a break," Haku told Kaa. He hadn't realised that traipsing across the rooftops of Paixao with a relatively heavy new friend on his back would have worn him out so easily.

He didn’t mind the break that Haku apparently needed; carrying a several hundred pound snake was bound to tire out anyone after a time. “I agree, thank you for the ride, it wasss much fassster than our tour might otherwissse have been.” Kaa slithered off of the effeminate ninja, slowly so as not to hurt her-him, him. He was still having trouble wrapping his head around the fact that Haku was a boy. After his coils were completely off the boy and he was spread out across the ground he raised his head up so as to be level with Haku’s. “Feeling alright man-cub?” He asked, some actual concern in his voice.
no subject
That is, until something just suddenly dropped onto the street just a few feet away in front of him. It was an odd sight to see, someone he presumed to be a girl and a snake. Very peculiar indeed. More interesting still was that these actually smelled real. Deciding he had nothing better to do he walked up to the pair, greeting them with a simple "Hey there."
no subject
To the Boogieman, this was simply inconceivable.
So intent was he on finding some small child to frighten witless, he ended up startled himself when the - was that a girl? - and the snake fell from the sky and landed on the ground in front of him. Disgust at the fact that he had been the one scared quickly turned to anger. "Hey!" he snapped at the two. "Watch where you're goin!"
no subject
It seemed like they were being joined by new people, and Haku smiled at Repliku. "Hi." He then turned his focus on Oogie. "I apologize. I didn't think there was anyone immediately in the area that I was jumping into.
Just after he made the comment, Haku was struck with a wave of dizziness. He crouched down automatically, lowering his center of balance in order to maintain it more easily. As the dizziness passed, the shinobi did, in fact, lose his balance, and ended up on his butt looking up at the three.
This was just great! Here he was, staring up at three strangers, uncertain of where he was or who he was... and one of them, at least, seemed relatively creepy. Why were they near him? Did he know them?
Whether he knew them or not, Haku got to his feet and took a few steps back to regard them all with a puzzled look.
no subject
He turned to see who, or rather what as it turned out, had made the noise. The scent of insects permeated from the... ...thing. What ever it was, it wasn't going to get away with taking THAT tone with him! He began coiling himself up, raising himself to "eye" level with the bug thing, his eyes flashing with colors dangerously. "Jussst whooo do you think you are!? No, don't apologize to him Haku. Haku...?"
Haku had fallen to the grown, not something someone as strong and well balanced as him did without good reason. He slithered back over to the man-cub as he got up with a puzzled look on his face, the rudeness of the bug man completely forgotten.
"Haku, are you all right?"
no subject
He frowned at this 'Haku', wondering what could have made the kid lose her balance. She didn't seem like she'd be the sort to just fall over like that given the way she'd just jump from the roof and all. He took a few steps closer to get a better look at the situation. "What's wrong?" It wasn't like he was actually concerned, hell he barely knew her, more like curious as she suddenly seemed confused for no reason.
no subject
Shrugging mentally, Haku decided to fore-go sanity for the moment. After all, if he couldn't remember anything, there was really no grounds upon which to base sanity and insanity.
"I.. I think I'm okay..." Haku told them. "Though it's kind of hard to know for sure. Haku?" He offered another puzzled look. "Is that my name?"
no subject
Kaa glanced over his “shoulders” to check on the white haired man-cub and the bug thing to find the man-cub just as interested in Haku as he was and the bug thing… Gone!
He tried to hide his shock as best he could, which was to say, poorly. “Where’d it go!?” he exclaimed, his whole body giving a sudden shiver. He glanced back at Haku then moved his head so that he could whisper into the man-cub’s ear. “Haku, I know that you like to do all of your’ misssleading ninja ssstuff but now really issssn’t the time. Sssomething ssstrange isss going on!”
Pulling his head away from the Haku’s shoulder he turned to face the other man-cub, although not before positioning most of his body subtly yet protectively between the stranger and Haku. “Allow me to introducsse myssself, my name isss Kaa, and pleassse forgive me but do you have any idea what isss going on!?” he gestured with his head in the direction that the bug thing had been standing only a short moment ago.
no subject
Repliku blinked dumbly for a moment as he felt the presence of the bug-bag disappear. He too was rather startled by it. Did it teleport? But how can something teleport that fast? Even he couldn't! Although teleporting had never been his strongest point, he preferred walking anyway. It was still rather alarming.
He focused his attention back on the snake once it started to introduce itself, noticing the way it had started to make a barrier between him and the Haku kid. "Ah, I'm Repliku." He answered nonchalantly before crossing his arms and looking contemplative for a moment. "I'm afraid I don't. I just arrived here myself. Maybe that... bag thing teleported or something." Although he had a hard time believing it himself it was the only suggestion he could think of making.
( ooc: Sorry for the wait! Been busy with work and animecon. )
no subject
Haku backed away startled as Kaa leaned over his shoulder, shaking his head at the serpent's suggestion. Ninja stuff? Misleading? What was he talking about? And what was this strange thing he had mentioned? Sure, the bag had gone, but he had just walked off while they weren't looking, right?
"I don't know what you're talking about," Haku told Kaa firmly, even as the snake moved to position himself between the young shinobi and the white-haired stranger. "I'm sorry."
Haku heard Repliku's question, and spent a moment thinking it over. Amnesia? Wasn't that some kind of affliction? Had he been affected by it? He wasn't sure he could answer the question. The meaning behind the word was evading his grasp at the moment. "I... don't know." It was the best answer he could offer.
no subject
The snake shook his head slowly, it couldn't possibly be amnesia. But he couldn't just say that. If Haku was, as Kaa suspected, doing some ninja-disguise-trick-thing, then he would be undermining the man-cubs' efforts. Should he pretend that Haku was a girl? He turned his head to look back at Haku, his face, hidden from Repliku, asked all too plainly 'what are you doing?'
no subject
"Has she been diagnosed with amnesia before? If not perhaps she should see a doctor." This question was directed at Kaa (or rather the back of Kaa's head). Kaa seemed to know Haku well enough so perhaps the snake knew.
no subject
Haku nodded as he listened to Repliku's description of amnesia. It certainly sounded like his problem. In fact, it described it adequately. Temporary could be any length of time, though. Tomorrow, or even years from now. Would he be able to go years without being able to remember who he was? It was such a hard question to answer, especially since he knew nothing else right now.
Despite Haku's loss of memory, there was one thing he was certain of. "I'm not a girl."
no subject
Turning to Repliku he replied “Nooo” stretching out his ‘O’s and enjoying the way the sound rolled off his tongue, “Haku doesss not sssuffer from amnesssia. It would have been impossssible for hisss… …ssstudiesss, which were rather… extensive, and whinch he ssseemed to have retained quite well.” Kaa had almost said “training” and had only caught himself with difficulty. Haku had seemed somewhat secretive and it was in his best interest not to reveal any of the man-cubs secrets. But something was wrong with the man-cub, and Kaa needed to know what was going on.
(sorry about the deleted response, HUGE grammatical error -_-;)
no subject
His eyebrow remained in the same position even after the snake had offered an explanation of sorts. For Repliku everything just seemed more suspicious. “Studies?” he couldn’t help but question. It was obvious the snake was hiding something about the feminine boy. ”Haku’s situation clearly indicates amnesia. What else could it be? ”
no subject
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Haku replied. "Surely, if I knew, I would have told you by now." The young shinobi was clearly starting to get a little frustrated with the insistence that this was something other than what it appeared to be. Why would he pretend something like this? It didn't make sense!
"You would have to be crazy to pretend not to remember anything."
no subject
No, with the old Haku he might have given it some serious thought, after all, the boy had killed people his whole life, but this helpless and confused Haku would just become frightened.
Turning to Repliku Kaa said, "You appear to be correct." he glanced sympathetically at Haku before continuing "Although Haku hasss never been prone to sssuch before." THAT at least Kaa was certain of but "Do you sssupossse thisss man-village could have sssomething to do with it?"
Kaa still kept himself possitioned semi-defensivley between Haku and Repliku, he hadn't lived as long as he had by being careless and he knew nothing of this new man-cub. It had been quite startling to discover that who he had considered a potential meal could prove at least his physical equal when he had first encountered Haku. This place brought in dangerous people and the snake wasn't taking any chances.
no subject
Repliku simply nodded before crossing his arms and pondering over the question. The city he had suddenly found himself sure seemed weird (and ever-so fake which, to Repliku, seemed mocking still). What was this anyway? An afterlife or perhaps something else? Anything could be possible as far as the clone was concerned. "It could. Perhaps this city could have some effects on you."
That was the conclusion Repliku came too, perhaps they could get hit by amnesia just like Haku too. He himself for one wouldn't mind that so much. It might be nice to forget he was fake and dead, sort of. ...Was he? He couldn't get that question out of his head so decided to just finally ask it. Uncrossing his arms and rubbing the back of his head a bit awkwardly, he glanced at Kaa before staring up at the sky. "So...is this place some kind of...afterlife or something?"
no subject
In part, Haku didn't understand why Kaa would be protective of him. However unobvious it might have been in general, the questions and the actions added up to that idea. The only thing he could consider was that Kaa was either friend or, what was the word? Pet? Familiar? Familiar... that was it. But Haku didn't know why he would have a familiar, if he had one, and having a talking snake as a friend was a very curious thing, indeed.
He heard Repliku's question about this being the afterlife and seemed puzzled by the thought. Could that be why he didn't remember anything? Did this place take away the memories of the life you had lived in order to grant peace? Haku shook his head dismissively at the thoughts. Surely not. There must be some other answer.
"Wouldn't we know if we were dead, though?" It seemed like a stupid question, but without his memories, it was quite valid for Haku.
no subject
Haku had joined in the conversation. That boded well. But more questions had been brought up, for example, why did the man-cub Repliku, believe himself to be dead? Unlike with Haku, Kaa wasn't going to pry. For some reason this boy just seemed more dangerous. Not that Haku hadn't proven himself dangerous but this was different. Where as Haku would doubtlessly act in self defense, he was certainly not aggressive. And while Kaa wouldn't outright call Repliku aggressive, he was certainly more so than Haku. He needed to get Haku somewhere safe, someplace where he could explain what little he knew of Hakus’ history to him.
no subject
He glanced at Haku briefly and simply said "I do," and gave no further explanation. He really didn't feel like recalling his own death. The feelings of pain and despair in his final moment ("where will my heart go?") were still too vivid in his mind. Both Kaa and Haku seemed positive they were still alive though. He raised his hand in front of his face and stared at it as he clenched and unclenched it. He had to admit that he felt very much alive too but that just wasn't possible, was it?
"If this place is not an afterlife then what is it?"
no subject
The shinobi could only offer a shrug at Repliku's question. "A city?" It was a stupid response, surely, and so obvious. However, it was the only one Haku could come up with.
Amusingly enough, though forgotten now, Haku had originally thought himself dead when he arrived in this city. He had since become disillusioned of that fact, but it had still happened.

“Yesss, thisss placsse isss a man-village, but it’sss much much more! I’ve been looking on the journalsss, asssking quessstionsss and piecssing thingsss together little by little. I hypothesssizsse that thisss placsse isss sssomething of a vacuum between, well… ..worldsss, hard asss that might be to believe. People from all different timesss and placssesss arrive here for no apparent reassson. I can only establisssh that an organizssation of human-like creaturesss isss somehow behind it. I know of at least six membersss although I believe that there mussst be more.”
He paused here a moment to give Haku and Repliku a moment to let it sink in, after all it was a lot to take in. An idea occurred to him then, one that could possibly kill two, maybe even three birds with one stone (not that he’d ever use anything so crude to kill a bird but it was an apt expression).
“Repliku, you ssseem like a fairly dependable man-cub, would you be willing to assssissst me with my resssearch into thisss Organizssation? Hmmm?” There now, if he could keep things moving in this direction and acquire Replikus’ aid then he could get Repliku to leave so that he could fill in Haku on who he was without being overheard and have someone else helping him gather information on the organization.
no subject
However Kaa's explanation offered him the information he needed and so he listened intently. A vacuum between worlds? To him it made sense. Although the next bit about an Organization definitely caught his attention. Or rather, it even shocked him. It couldn't be...
"Say Kaa...this Organization you speak of...are there any members that go by the name of Vexen, Marluxia, Larxene or Axel?" His entire frame was shaking ever so slightly now. His fists clenched so tightly at his sides that, if he would clench any harder his nails would probably tear through the fabric. If it were them then....then what? Would they have brought him here for a reason? Whatever it was at least things made sense to him now. This world, this city looked so fake and almost like Castle Oblivion it just had to be them. No one could be as tasteless in architecture as them. Did that mean he hadn't died? If they really were behind this now he'd much rather be dead then here.
no subject
Now there was an idea. Haku could go figure out this place. Perhaps it would stir some memories?
"Um.... I think I should go..."
no subject
In his excitement he almost didn’t hear Hakus’ quiet comment and it took a moment to penetrate the nearly gleeful feeling he was experiencing. Oh nuts. The end of Kaas tail quickly raised up and coiled itself about Hakus’ wrist, the effect being very similar to holding onto one’s hand. He put his excitement on hold for a moment and turned to look at Haku. “Haku, it would be bessst if you heard what isss sssaid here. It will help you. I know you are anxssiousss to remember who you are, but you will not find your’ memories in that man-village.” Kaa was guessing, but it was probably true. “If you can lend me a bit more of your’ patiencsse I will tell you everything I’ve learned about you and who you are. Pleassse, jussst a moment longer.”
Kaa turned back to Repliku, his grin returning. “The namesss all sssound sssimilar, but one jumpsss out. Larxssene. All the people yoou’ve jussst told me of, they’re all in sssome organizssation with her correct? Along with Xssigbar, Luxssord, Zssexssion, Sssaixss and Demyxss? Pleassse, tell usss everything you know about them.”
no subject
Using the time Kaa paid attention to Haku the replica calmed himself down as much as he could. If the feminine boy wanted to run off with memory loss and get himself lost in the city then that was his choice. Repliku truly didn't give a damn. Glaring at the cobblestones seemed far too interesting right now.
When Kaa had turned his attention back to him he confirmed that it was indeed the Organization he knew. He redirected his glare from the cobblestones to the serpent (although it wasn't Kaa's fault, it couldn't be helped). "Correct," he replied stiffly, keeping up the angry attitude until a familiar name hit his ears. "Zexion!? That's impossible! I..." Killed him. The initial shock died down fast however as the replica realized it was by all means possible. For one, Repliku himself was supposed to be dead. Secondly this was a vacuum between worlds, according to Kaa, and it was possible for someone to be pulled in from a different time.
Quickly regaining his composure, he thought about the other names. They did not sound familiar at all, the only one he recognized was Zexion. So instead he focused on the next matter. "Give you information? And what would I get in return? For all I know they could be monitoring everything and this all could be a little dangerous." Repliku wasn't sure how many there were out there and if it really were possible for them to monitor an entire city like this but you never knew.
Repliku didn't really care about the danger. Neither the danger he could bring himself in by telling them everything he knew nor the danger both Kaa and Haku might find themselves in after obtaining such information. He just wanted to know if there could be something in it for him.
This train of thought brought him to another realization. If they were here then...
"Naminé...is she here?"
no subject
"I... alright." Haku sighed. He would stay for now, but only because Kaa asked. The amnesiac didn't know how or why Kaa knew things about him, but whatever the serpent knew was more than Haku had. He would just have to trust that everything Kaa told him wasn't skewed by some distorted perspective.
As it was, Haku continued to listen, even as the words made no sense and the names stirred no memory. He was quite certain that he didn't like feeling like an extra, an unnecessary.
no subject
Kaa didn't like the look he was receiving from Repliku one bit. But at least he'd been proven correct about the organization members. He noticed with mild interest the way Repliku became excited over the mention of Zexion, but the man-cub seemed to calm down fairly quickly about that.
What would he get in return? What kind of a question was that!? Kaa gave the man-cub an incredulous look. "What would you get?" He had thought the man-cub somewhat intelligent, now he just seemed mildly annoying. But he was right, the information he had was valuable, or at least Kaa believed it to be. "I would of courssse ssshare my information with you, although I would have been more than happy to give it to you regardlessss of how valuable your' information prooved. But if you want to 'barter' information asss oppossed to freely ginving it and recssieving that sssame courtesy in return, then ssso be it. I'll let you decsside how you want to handle thisss, although asss a bit of free advicsse I would sssugessst giving it out freely in the future asss that will help you form alliancssesss.”
He paused, considering Replikus’ last question. “I have not heard of any Namine, but I will csserainly be on the lookout for her now that you’ve mentioned her. I presssume you’d like to be informed ssshoul I discover her whereaboutsss?” There. No need to be rude, and the man-cub could still prove useful. It would no doubt help to stay on friendly terms with the unfriendly being.
no subject
He remained silent for a while longer, simply looking around as he observed their surroundings. Those blonde-haired people that walked around definitely weren't normal. Although they seemed to have personalities all of it was still fake. They could possibly have something to do with the Organization. His gaze flicked back to Kaa and he simply nodded. "Fine, I'll tell you what I know. I suggest finding a more private place though."
Repliku's shoulders sagged at the revelation. Wasn't Naminé here or did the Organization get their hands on her again? "What about Sora and...Riku?" It felt so very weird saying that name considering it had also been his. To think he'd actually ask for his original made him want to laugh. Regardless of that notion, he more looked slightly depressed than anything. "And if you could, that would be great."
no subject
"We can keep an eye out for them," Haku offered. It gave him something to do, naturally. "Let them know you're looking for them, or asking about them, if you'd like?"
He doubted he would come across these people, but the offer couldn't hurt anything. Could it?
no subject
Kaa listened as Repliku asked about two others, and nodded as he recognized the names. He nodded as Haku offered to help, waiting for the man-cub to finish before saying “I believe I recognizsse the namesss. Ssseveral people ssseem interesssted in finding thisss Sssora” he inclined his head towards his journal and continued “but no one ssseemsss completely sssure where he isss. And asss far asss I know, Rikku isss gathering ‘treasssure’ while looking for Paine and Yunie.”
(ooc: OK, just letting you know that Kaa’s got Riku and Rikku mixed up. I’ve had fun with ya’ll and I’ll be posting in two weeks. “See” you then!)
no subject
Repliku considered Haku's offer for a moment. Keep an eye out for them, fine. Let them know he was looking for them? ..Somehow that didn't sound like a great idea. Ask about them? Would the people here know them? Somehow he doubted this world's inhabitants were very willing to help. "If you can keep an eye out for them it would be appreciated."
His gaze snapped back at Kaa as soon the serpent announced that he recognized the names. Sora was here! The news actually made him feel at ease for the first time since he was here. If Sora was here then everything would be fine. He had taken on the Organization before and won, surely he could do it again. Although it seemed other people were looking for him, this concerned him slightly however he was distracted from the thought when 'Rikku' got explained to him. "Treasure? Paine and Yunie..?" Repliku stared at the snake as if it were mad. Never in his short-lived life had he heard of this 'Paine' and 'Yunie' and he had his original's memories too! Why would Riku go after treasure? He could only imagine Riku being one of the people trying to find Sora. Surely his best friend meant more to him than treasure.
He groaned and rubbed his temples, this all was so confusing. "This Rikku...what does he look like?" To add another question to the list, Repliku fished his journal out of his pocket (kept there so should the need arise to throw it at someone's head, it would be there). He had noted the way the serpent had nodded at it before so it seemed to have some importance. He glanced at the journal in his hand and then back at Kaa with a quizzical expression.
{ ooc: It sure gave Reppy something to WTF about. 8D See you then~! ♥ }

"I think it would be wise to have descriptions if we're going to be looking for people," Haku said. "I don't think I can find anyone that I haven't met." And even if he had met them, he wouldn't be able to remember what they looked like at this point. "And perhaps we could take this to a hotel or something?"
Haku couldn't remember if he had a room at one, but it seemed like a better idea than standing on the street, if they didn't want to be overheard.
no subject
What in the jungle was a hotel? Kaa tried to hide his confusion but it was evident that he had no clue what Haku was talking about. His confusion was only compounded upon hearing Rikku referred to as a ‘he’. Greatful for the chance to not worry about the befuddling hotel, Kaa replied to Repliku “He? Mmmm’no no no, Rikku is a she!” He must have made some sort of a mistake! Had he misread the journals? What did he do?
Sighing, he slowly and deliberately opened his journal with his coils, pulling up the map. Going slowly had several purposes, the first being to show Repliku how to do it without patronizing the man-cub, who most likely wouldn’t appreciate a lecture on something Kaa barely understood himself, and the second was to test to see if Haku noticed and learned. If he did then that would mean that he still remembered some of his training, even if he didn’t realize it. He was also waiting to see if Haku recognized anything on the map, testing to see just how much the amnesia had affected him.
(ooc: Hello all! I just posted to the ooc board, but do you guys want to wrap this thread up and start another one fresh?)
no subject
Turning back to Haku, he gave a small nod before starting to give descriptions. "Sora has brown spiky hair, blue eyes and is about this height," he indicated with his hand. "You'll probably recognize him as soon you see him. Naminé has blond hair reaching to her shoulder, wears a white dress and usually has a sketchbook with her." For the next part he hesitated slightly, it would be a hassle to explain it so he just hoped he didn't get questioned too much. "Riku...looks just like me."
With that said he quickly turned back on the subject of finding a hotel. "A hotel sounds fine." Noticing how Kaa opened the journal he repeated the action and pulled up the map. Staring at it for a moment before glancing at Haku, he decided to let them choose considering he knew absolutely nothing about the place.
{ ooc: Welcome back! <3 And sure, that's fine by me. }
no subject
Haku listened, and listened well, taking note of the descriptions presented to him by Repliku. He tucked them away, hoping that he would remember them later. After all, it would be terribly rude of him to forget who he had promised to help look for.
"Is Riku your twin, then?" the effeminate shinobi asked. Really, it had no bearing on anything. It was just a curiosity and a useless question. And it could be answered as they headed to the hotel. Haku just hoped that Kaa would take the lead. He couldn't remember where to go.
no subject
Just when Kaa thought he couldn't pretend to know what a hotel was any longer, an idea occured to him. He only vaguely listened to Replikus' description of Sora, though when he heard that Rikku looked just like Repliku his attention perked up a bit, though not enough to distract him from his task. He had simply asked the journal to highlight the nearest of these 'hotels' and was pleasantly surprised when it worked.
Grinning, quite pleased with himself, he looked up from his journal to hear Hakus' question. While Repliku's relationship with Riku wasn't exactly high on Kaa's list of interest, he made sure to listen carefully for Ripliku's response.
"Well then, it ssseemsss that the Morem O Lisssboa isssn't terribly far from here. Ssshall we make our way there?"
(ooc: that's a wrap for Kaa, I'll start replying to the "Released Back Into the Wild" thread.)
no subject
Repliku looked back at the map for a moment, memorizing it before snapping it shut and tucking it away. "Morem O Lisboa it is."
{ ooc: Alrighty then~ }
