Dare You To Move [completed]
Character(s): The Lone Power, Machu Picchu/The Winged Defender, npcs
Content: A face-to-face confrontation…and some snark over the Beautiful One drinking. The Defender makes an offer to the Lone Power...He considers it.
Setting: Vanaheim area, The Cheap Prayer
Time: dawn to afternoon
Warnings: allusions to myths, jokes, swearing, spoilers
Storming off had resulted in running to some extent. However, by the time dawn came, the Lone Power’s temper had run out. Technically, by mythology, he was the leader of dawn, the Morning Star. He entered the bar, for the first time actually comfortable with the cheap, sleazy atmosphere. It suited this place far better than the riches of the far side.
He chose a small corner table with a decent view and glanced over the menu, ordering one of the stronger drinks the bar had to offer, though not the strongest. He wanted to be able to walk back out of the bar later. But he needed something to get rid of the thoughts of the city and its idiots for a while. He hated being trapped like this.
After getting his drink, he settled with it, trying to once again, feel out the darkness he had felt earlier in his stay. Much to his disappointment, the energy signatures of both extreme dark creatures he had felt seemed to have disappeared. At least there were other, weaker signatures that could probably with work be turned one way or another.
Hopefully soon he’d find someone who could make a deal with him for power.

The winged-woman raised one hand to call over a server, ordering a meal as well as a drink for herself. The server squeaked a reply quickly as he left to take care of her order. Picchu wasn't sure why the boy was frightened.
Another glance around the room showed that the majority were the blondes.
She turned back to her sibling, "You do know drinking never really helps anything. If you want the truth from me, as to why I'm following you? I want to apologize. I never wanted to throw you out of our home. No one did. The only reason we cast you out was so you could learn your lesson. You're quite stubborn."

He took a drink and then paused, "And no, I don't remember what happened last time. I don't care. I want to leave here. While this city is sophisticated, I prefer having my meager power over things. I want to go back to my city, even though i still can't afford the electricity or stars."

"I'd like to be home too. And as for what happened last time, you misread your edict. We got you drunk to prevent some mishaps. You were the laughing stock of the family for a while."
She smiled, "Why won't you believe me? I talk to you all the time. I'm the only one who chooses to show you The One's hopes for you. If you'd look, you'd see the opportunities I'm giving you to change your mind...My edicts can be changed."

"You talk to me, but that means little. Almost too little to the rest of the family." There was a bitterness, tinged slightly with something that most humans would say resembled longing that had begun to make itself a bit more evident in his conversation. Without looking at his sister, he reached for one of the finger foods on the platter between them, as if trying to make an effort to look like it didn't matter to him.

The music had changed on the stage. She listened, smiling about how much the song fit the scenario.
Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
She handed him the food he had been struggling to focus on grabbing. "You know you don't have to pretend in front of me. If you want something, just ask. You dislike me because you want to come home, don't you? Is it that you want to be a part of the family again?"
She took a sip of her own drink, watching him, to make sure she could help him if he was too drunk. "And as I told you, you should have eaten first, brother."

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here
He seemed to be making a desperate grasp at justifying himself, as he growled, "I DON'T CARE." Though there was still that indication that he was failing rather horribly at his own invention of lies. Putting down his drink the Lone one put his head down on his arms, scowling at his sister through the frosted glass, seeming much more like a stubborn child than the adult he looked like.

After some time, she went around the table and stood beside her brother. "Should I stay with you or do you want me to give you time to think on it?" She tied the strand of syllables into a bracelet, hiding it under a sleeve as she spoke.

The Lone Power stopped short. What did he want? Did he want to go home, or did he want power? Did he want his pride or the family he had lost?
Finally, he muttered, "Time," as he turned away from his sister.

She cast a smile on the silenced Lone Power, "You know how to reach me. And I am always here when you need me."
Picking up her blade, she moved assuredly out of the bar.
