New place, new experiences [complete]
Characters: Latias, The Lone Power
Content: Latias roams the city...a little sight-seeing, perhaps.
Setting: Muspelheim area, headed towards N-3
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: None
After a bit of time, she decided there probably wasn't any need to keep on running anymore.
The girl slowed to a stop and looked over her shoulder, in case that awful gray thing had followed her. Nowhere in sight, thankfully; she let out a silent sigh of relief. What the heck was that? She searched for a word within her knowledge to help her describe such a thing; 'ghost' settled in her mind, though she had a feeling that still wasn't a proper word for it. It would have to do for now, however.
She looked down at the thing the man back there had given her, holding it in her still-shaking hands. It appeared to be something electronic, though for what purpose she wasn't sure; at first glance it looked rather complicated to her. Latias poked at it for a few moments before becoming bored with it. She tucked it away under her arm for now.
Something about the buildings in this place reminded her of Altomare, even though they didn't look the same - and there was still the distinct lack of familiar-looking canals that definitely set the two cities apart. Still, at least the place didn't look nearly as odd as it had when she'd been outside.
Shapes flittered and moved past the edge of her vision, and she turned around every time she noticed one; however, none of them were even remotely like a Dusk, but instead were thankfully human-shaped - the various townsfolk hurrying about to wherever it was that they were going. Latias noticed that a few of them looked at her curiously, and she ended up just giving them a friendly wave, compounding their curious looks even more. What she didn't realize was that compared to the normal folk here, she stood out quite a bit.
Oh well.
She took out her journal again, and decided to fiddle with at as she moved forward; perhaps she could figure out the secret behind this thing while she explored around here. However, this meant that her attention wasn't fully on what might have been in front of her...

He wasn't paying any attention to anything, not even the direction he was going in until he walked straight into a little girl. He gave a rushed reply to his "sister" saying he'd be nice as long as the girl wasn't a threat, and then turned to address the little kid. what was it with the little kids coming after him these days without a need to challenge him these days.
He glanced down at the girl, before kneeling to make the conversation easier. There were no apologies, but he did use a formal tone to her, that was falsely kind. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Cordell Black. You are?"

She ignored the man for a minute while she looked closely at her journal, and then, after seeing that it still looked just as good as new, turned her gaze to the man. No words came out of her, though her lips twitched a moment as if she were going to say something.
Instead, she just backed up a few steps and continued staring. She was both wary of this Cordell Black (mostly because he seemed to have just come out of nowhere) and yet curious at the same time; though after a moment her gaze finally fell from him and settled down to a random patch of ground located somewhere in the vicinity of her feet.

"Mike"his sister that after all. He couldn’t refrain from being a little irritated though.no subject
Latias looked clueless for a moment. Of course she didn't get the hint that she was supposed to give a name of some sort (preferably her own name) in return. She was a bit ill-versed in the exact ways of human greetings; she'd watched at times as people performed them, but she'd never had much need of doing them herself.
A light seemed to come on within her memory, and, looking back up at Cordell, she smiled as she stuck out her arm in front of her while. If she remembered correctly, this was one way that humans introduced themselves to one another, the whole hand-shaking deal...right? She hoped so, just for the sake of being correct.

She balked at the mention of a name, though. She ended up shaking her head after a few moments. 'Latias' may have been what others had called her before, but she knew that that was also what she was, not just who. Besides, she was practiced in the art of hiding her identity; and even though there was no guarantee that people here would know what she was, that caution still stuck with her.
Speaking of here...she realized she hadn't gotten too far with looking around here before she'd bumped into this guy! And she wanted to look around and--
And she was COLD, she realized.
She ended up putting her arms around herself, trying to warm herself up.

He glanced down at her again, seeing her wrap her arms around herself. He sighed, taking off his business jacket. The air was chill, but not something that would bother him immediately. He sighed, crouching to wrap the jacket around her like a cloak, since it was going to drag on the ground if he put it on her properly.
"We should get you a proper jacket." He stood for a moment, looking around. One hand clenched itself in a determined fist. The sense of darkness had come back. He hadn't felt it in the rush of all those constructs earlier...Now he did, and it was relatively elating. Maybe...just maybe he'd find someone useful soon. But, first he had to take care of the little girl.

She ended up edging away very slightly from Lone for a moment as he put the coat around her. While they weren't visible, she still had her wings to worry about - even if they couldn't be seen with the form she was generating they certainly could still be felt if someone bumped into them. There was the faintest of ripples as she modified her illusion form slightly to make it appear more like the coat had gone on an actual girl.
Oh, this definitely felt better. No wonder humans loved wearing things like this.
She nodded in agreement to Lone's statement, and then ended up giggling to herself as she enjoyed not feeling as chilled anymore.

He saw her nod and then heard her giggle, "Well, then....let's get going. You can walk ahead, just make sure you stay where I can see you. The last time I had a little girl with me, she wandered out of site by the time I found her sister and then I couldn't find her again. And I'm going to call you Nina when we get to the store. Calling you 'Miss' will get complicated."
He started moving. They had to find a place that sold or made coats somewhere.

Nina...that sounded like an awesome name, she thought! Then again it was more or less the first name she'd had to herself, other than 'Latias'. She kept repeating the name over and over in her mind, at least until her attention was drawn away by other things. She kept turning her head this way and that, looking at the various building around that kept amazing her...and best of all, she thought she smelled...
Food?
It was only a wisp of a smell at the moment, but oh, did it ever catch her attention. Just...where exactly was it coming from? Maybe from this house...no, that wasn't it. Maybe this one...
She weaved back and forth in the streets as she attempted to find the source. Where are yoooou...
There...that building, over there, it seemed to be coming from there [the cafe]! She forgot all about coats for the moment and stopped in her tracks, staring at the front of the cafe.

He sighed, ducking his head to go into the building. He wondered how tall his “sister” was now. He ordered himself a black coffee and a sticky bun. He was quite positive he’d need it considering that he was dealing with children, but not challenging children. He turned to his young companion, “And what do you want, Nina?”
He figured since she didn’t talk much, she’d point at a treat from the case. He'd probably have to decide on an appropriate drink for her.

She had her attention diverted fully by the displayed food; she got her face as close as she possibly could to them. So many things here...what in the world would she choose...?
After a few moments of pondering, she finally jabbed a finger towards a cookie of some sort, and looked back over at Lone with a smile on her face.

He ordered her the cookie she wanted and juice, as that would be easiest. Then he pointed to an empty table near the window, "Go sit over there, Nina. I'll be there in a minute." He hoped she'd sit down, at his request.
He gave the woman at the counter some coins to pay for it, indicating that they were eating at the cafe. She told him she'd deliver their order when it was ready, and he returned to Latias.
A very short time after they were seated, the woman came over. "Hello, sir." She's said cheerfully, accenting her vowels, as she delivered the food and drink. He shook his head. Go figure, the beauty still seduces...although not the way I'd like it to at the moment, though. he muttered in his head. He nodded a thank you to the annoying woman and passed Latias her cookie and juice before taking a sip of his coffee.

Latias had been patiently waiting for the stuff to arrive, even if there had been a large amount of fidgeting on her part. She took a sniff of the juice before setting it aside and setting to work on the cookie. The cookie was gone in no time; she hadn't had such a treat in...oh, she wasn't sure how long.
The juice wasn't quite as pleasing to her when she tried it. There was a bit of a tang to it that she wasn't sure if she liked, and even though she stuck her tongue out over it she obviously must have liked it somewhat if kept on drinking it. She put her cup down and leaned over the table to try and see what Lone had - which she thought had a really funky smell to it - before leaning back into her chair and staring out the window.
Quizzical little "ooh" sounds came from her, as if she were finding all of what she saw out there to be interesting - which it did, even though she'd already been out there.

Finishing his own snack, he glanced up at the little girl, "Well, Nina? Shall we go looking for the coat you want now?"
no subject
She changed course - instead of headed towards the door, she instead headed for another part of the cafe.

He wanted to get this trip over with, but the child's lack of concentration kept getting in the way of getting ANY work done.
