Valerie could see that Larxene was aiming for her board, and as such swerved vertical, allowing the knives to pass by the board unharmed. Unfortunately, this was something Valerie liked to do sparsely, since it really through off her balance.

Like now, actually.

Valerie tried to right herself well, but the change in direction wasn't something she was used to, and while the two knives aimed at the board missed, one came dangerously close to her head and another was able to give her an impressive slash on her arm. That was enough to throw Valerie completely off balance, and she fell from the board hard. She got up, grunting and rubbing her hindquarters as that fall had taken a toll. She grabbed the board and was ready to do battle, but saw that Larxene was doing something now...something very terribly dangerous.
