Avenge?
After THIS
Character(s): Valerie and Larxene
Content: Face off
Setting: H3, near Cafe Ersesat
Time: Late Night
Warnings: verbal/physical encounters
It had taken awhile to convince Misha and Danny to let her go, but they’d let her finally. She had only to keep a rather close eye on her journal entries to know that Dan wasn’t the only one looking to start a fight. She’d already been wondering about this girl since her first entry, and now she was almost certain she had something to do with Timon’s “run-in.”
The heat didn’t escape this place, and that was fine when you traveled on a jet sled. Valerie had the run in with Dan, and she’d only had a little time to prepare. Well now there was all the time she needed. All the weapons were functional and working fine. The costume was equipped on her person, and she was at H3, precisely where she said she’d be. Valerie had a wandering mind, an inquisitive one at that. You get handed a map, you study it until its second sight. That thinking made high school bearable, and did the similar to preparing for battle.
After all, this wasn’t Dan. This was the girl she’d see make flippant self-deprecating comments on other people’s journals. It had been her misfortune that she didn’t take to insults that involved other people. No one could say the thing that woman said without having an ego the size of Mount Rushmore. So there was no underestimating the enemy here, no believing that she could overcome the odds. Now was the time to fight, down and dirty, blood for blood. What was more, she wanted answers. Larxene knew about the Organization or whatever it was. Knew, and wasn’t telling. If Valerie got injured, she’d at least want to know she did something in furthering why the hell she was here in the first place.
So Valerie stood beside a (fake) tree and waited.,

How ironic was it that Valerie had chosen this particular place for their meeting… Was she aware of what had happened there the night before? It was a minor detail, one that wasn’t worth mulling over, especially in face of the current situation.
Even though it was the same area, there was one thing different about it now.
The heat.
Never before had it been this hot in Paixao.
Through the journals, Larxene had learned the entirety of the city was under the effects of extreme weather conditions. Something was obviously wrong with the systems that controlled Paixao’s weather, but that was not her concern.
Making her way to the agreed location was simple enough. However the was one thing that needed to be taken care of before she headed there. While she preferred the heat to the rains that were affecting another portion of the city, her black coat wasn’t making it any less bearable. And if it came to fighting Valerie, wearing it would be an unwelcome disadvantage.
She scoured the streets for an alternative. Anything would do, as long as it was lighter than the coat. Eventually, she found something. One of the locals was kind enough to let her “borrow” their shirt, which she promptly put on. It was tasteless, but did the job well enough. Satisfied, the coatless Larxene made her way behind Café Ersesat. What she saw next wasn’t Valerie but someone in a red bodysuit. Even though she couldn’t see their face, the body was feminine in appearance, so Larxene assumed that it really was her.
“That’s quite an outfit you have there.” She said, observing the costume’s features. “I didn’t know you liked to play dress-up.”

Valerie clicked her heels together and the sled disappeared into the soles of her feet. "Number XII, right? I decided to do a little research on the people I decide to meet privately in the middle of the night. This might have helped Timon, but he found out the hard way. I mean, it isn't as if you make too many of your entries terribly private, and you don't act like you have anything to hide anyway."
Valerie shrugged. "I respect that. Now, before we have our little battle, I wouldn't mind if you answered some question...me being in this strange new world and all. If you'd rather not, fine by me, we can continue where we left off."
Valerie readied herself for Larxene's reply. Her muscles were relaxed and ready, the ecto guns were charged up along with the ectogrenade launcher and she had the wrist beams charged for good measure. She felt more sprightly than she had when facing dream Dan. Now that she actually had a better grasp of the circumstances, she was ready for just about anything. What was more, she was glad the suit didn't make her hot: the weather was bad enough.
"I want to know about the Organization, and what they have to do with, well, hearts."

Researching an opponent before meeting them... Maybe she actually had a brain inside that head of hers. What a surprise, the Nobody might actually have to take her seriously. "You're such a good little girl to have done your homework.” She grinned and nodded. “But why stop with the one your meeting when you can also research those they've already come in contact with?"
Larxene had done some investigation of her own before setting off to meet Valerie. It helped pass the time, after all.
“I don’t suppose Danny is aware of what you’re doing right now, is he? And I’m sure Dan would simply love to know.”
Other than knowing their names and that Valerie got along well with one but not the other, she didn’t know all that much about either. But that was nothing a little memory-reading couldn’t fix.
“If you want to get me to talk, then all you have to do is beat me.” Taking out her knives, she readied herself for whatever Valerie had in store for her. “Simple enough, right?”

Larxene's reply, despite herself, made Valerie smile. "I guess we'll save the talking for later then.
She clicked her heels together and the jet sled was back again, only now the ecto launcher was out of its holster. She hovered over Larxene a moment, then did a quick loop in the air and charged, gun blazing. Her eyes were regarding Larxene's movements, as this first attack was to gauge Larxene's speed to see if she could match it.
"Ready or not!" Valerie yelled.

Of course, there was no guarantee Larxene would actually do that in the unlikely event of her defeat. She just said that in order to give the girl more motivation for their fight, which was about to start!
Valerie was quick in making the first attack. Good, someone with the guts to take initiative. Too bad that was all she had going for her.
A front charge was easily dealt with. Waiting until she was right in front of her, Larxene leapt to the side and fired several off her knives. At such close range, it would be hard for her opponent to defend against them.
Unless she had more surprises up her sleeve, that is.

The leap to the side made sense: any smart enemy would dodge and attack their opponent's blind spot. However, Valerie had a few tricks of her own, things fueled by both martial arts and the ghost zone: sleight of hand. You had to be quick and have the will: that was where the martial arts came in. You also had to react as rapidly as your opponent or you were done, and hunting ghosts did that.
Larxene's weapons were all of two seconds from Valerie when she threw back her arm in a quick arch, her arms propelling the knives away by sheer force. The sweep had two advantages: it knocked the knives away and left her hand free to catch one, then you do not wait one moment more.
Valerie hurled the remaining knife in her hand back at Larxene, anxious to see if the woman could outrun the weapon or deflect it.

A shame that she know about how Nobodies could make their weapons appear and disappear with just a thought. She didn't move at all as the knife sped towards her. One moment it was traveling through the air, and the next, it had reappeared between her fingers along with the other one.
“Sneaky, trying to injure me with my own weapons!” she said, tapping one of her knives on the side of her thigh. “Too bad it failed, just like you will when Dan decides to come after the two of you.”
And so, the taunting began. If Larxene could get into her head, then Valerie would be too distracted to think clearly, giving her the advantage.

Valerie aimed and shot at Larxene in an almost rhythmic "M" pattern to ensure she at least scored a hit and swerved her jet sled at a one eighty angle so she was at Larxene's side now, ten feet away.
"If Dan ever catches up to us, he'll get the same answer you're getting!" Valerie had the ectolauncher at hand once more and was following up her shoulder volleys with steady beams from the gun.

Right after that, she threw six of her knives at Valerie. Actually, two of them had been aimed for the board she was using. If it could be damaged, then her speed and mobility would no longer be an issue. Not that it was anything to be too concerned about. After all, Larxene was still confident that she was faster than a piece of machinery.
In reality, the knives were only meant to be a distraction. Once landing several feet away from her, she began to build up the energy that would be released in a matter of moments…

Like now, actually.
Valerie tried to right herself well, but the change in direction wasn't something she was used to, and while the two knives aimed at the board missed, one came dangerously close to her head and another was able to give her an impressive slash on her arm. That was enough to throw Valerie completely off balance, and she fell from the board hard. She got up, grunting and rubbing her hindquarters as that fall had taken a toll. She grabbed the board and was ready to do battle, but saw that Larxene was doing something now...something very terribly dangerous.
"Oh, crud."

"Got you." Her grin as wide as ever, Larxene watched as the electricity that was surging around her arms was now focused in her open palms. Extending them towards the girl, the gathered charge was fired. Crackling through the air, the electricity quickly made it's way to it’s target.
Valerie really had no idea what she gotten herself into, did she? And this was just the tip of the iceberg for her...

Light exploded around her and she felt herself lifted high in the air from the impact at first, then back to the ground a second later. Pain dulled her head and rocked all over her body, and even hitting the ground her body still twitched. She grunted, and for a moment, just a moment, she wanted to stay down. What was she even doing here? She was supposed to be helping Danny, and now Misha, not acting like the stupid vigilante she made the mistake of portraying every time she hunted ghosts! But now it was all so pointless and here she was about to be beaten by someone that had nothing to do with why she was here. If she was killed now, would Danny even care? Would anyone?
GET UP.
The command came, swift and hard, and while she knew it was her voice somewhere inside her, it boomed, sounding dark somehow. Valerie stirred, and reared her legs back and leaped to her feet. The helmet was off now, and she looked at Larxene, regarding her now.
Do NOT acquiesce to defeat now. You fight for him, and you will find out what you need to know.
Valerie could feel something trailing behind her, and she didn't want to look. It was the thing darkness still chasing her from her dream, even in Dan's dream. It always scared her, and it always seemed familiar. Right now though, it wasn't scaring her as much as dying was, and she turned to Larxene, and spit blood from her mouth.
"Let's get this over with."
no subject
Well that was okay; Larxene didn’t mind shattering her hope and determination just like she had done with Timon.
"Over with? You really don’t get it, do you?" She said, drawing out her knives again, frowning at Valerie.
"Stupid girl, I'm the one who decides when this is over."
no subject
Of course, the reason for that was all too clear: the voice coming out of her didn't sound like her at all because it sounded deep and mean. There was also the very strange yellow glowing in her eyes and angry grimace in her face that looked nothing like the gritty determination the girl had displayed a moment ago. This look was annoyed and bored, as if expecting Larxene to understand the fundamentals of toying with something that didn't belong to her.
"You don't get it either, Nobody. WE have her now, and we like it here. Fight is nothing but sport for us, or have you forgotten? We will not let this one go to the dust just yet. You remember how you liked the scent of darkness; she is only realizing she sought us out first. The only battle she will lose is the one that has her heart. We will make that victory ours."
Valerie paused and breathed hard, and now her memories were beginning to clear. She was beginning to see that night now, and what she had given to make sure he would not hurt. She was beginning to see the origin of what started this in the first place.
And she didn't like it.
"NO!" It was Valerie's voice now, choked with emotion, tears springing to her eyes. She had to get out of here, even if Larxene gave chase. She had to understand, she had to find a place where she could know what was happening to her. She jumped on the jet sled with power she barely knew she had and sped off, leaving the blond nobody still wondering why her prey had not stayed to be victim to Larxene's superiority.
But then, now Valerie had a whole new set of problems.
