good morning... starshine? [ active ]
Character(s): Nano, Yun, and whoever wants to join in.
Content: Yun ventures away from Morem o Lisboa. N... sleeps.
Setting: Matteus Museum of Art.
Time: Late morning, the day after N's entrance.
Warnings: None.
N rather enjoyed museums like this one. It housed such sterling examples of artwork. It gave him an opportunity to find out a little more about this city, Paixao. It allowed him to get out of the hail and seek shelter inside. And, consequently, it also gave him a place to sleep.
He hadn't left the museum since he arrived late last night; not that he'd meant to camp out there, but he had walked all the way from Vanaheim gate without stopping, and as soon as he sat down, he dozed. He couldn't explain why he had chosen the museum, of all places. Perhaps curiosity drew him towards it. Perhaps he was cold, and the museum was a last resort. Perhaps he wanted to just sit and enjoy the art... which he did, for a while, before he slowly drifted off to sleep.
Whatever the reason was, it explained why he was still there the next morning, one hand in his lap, the other resting on a full case of line. N didn't snore, but his breathing was still audible.
And he didn't look like he would be getting up for a while.

Eventually, she wandered so far from the hotel that going back seemed like an even worse idea. Perhaps she could find a shady tree to sit under, or a cool building to loiter in until she could muster up the energy to walk back to the Morem o Lisboa. (Preferably the latter, as the trees in Paixao were fake, and fake trees were not very comfortable or conversational.)
That was when she happened upon the museum. Thankfully, it was much more comfortable inside. And maybe, by looking around, she could gain a little insight as to the history and culture of this city. ...Then again, given her previous attempts at gathering information, maybe not. But everything was nice to look at, at least.
And by the looks of things, Yun wasn't the only one who came here for shelter against the harsh weather outside. Saying hello to N didn't get her a response, however; the man was sound asleep.
Shrugging, she slinked down on the floor next to him, careful not to disturb his slumber, and studied the artwork in front of her. Beautiful, yes, but not very informative.

She hugged her knees to her chest, frowning thoughtfully as she inspected the other paintings and sculptures surrounding them. Art was not her forte, she knew that much, but that couldn't keep her from appreciating it.
"Lovely, isn't it?" she inquired amiably. "Most everything about this city is, though. It's nothing like home."

"I'm from a village called Alma Kinan," she replied. "We are all very closely tied to nature there, so..." An amused smile brightened her features. "This is an interesting experience for me."
His comment about the city's lack of substance was true enough. It was something she felt (or, rather, didn't feel) every day. And while it wasn't the most pleasant sensation in the world, she took it all in stride. There was little else she could do, after all, as long as she was stranded here.
"What about you?"

"No," she answered, frowning. "Outside of the Grasslands, people are not blessed by the spirits like us."
She furrowed her brow in thought as she followed N's gaze to the wall. That would be a perfect world, wouldn't it? There might not have been as much cause for war, then. But such perfection was impossible.
"It's a little sad to think of how much everyone has missed out on," Yun continued, glancing back up on the painting before them, "but we lived largely in isolation from the rest of the world. I only left the village once in my life. Maybe we, too, have missed out on something."

The fact that he was ignoring her own questions was a little peculiar. Usually she was the one to dodge a question if she felt the answer should not be given. Not the other way around.
It did not bother her, however. But she was still curious, and she still wanted to find answers at some point. N's own questions proved to her that his world must be very different from hers. She wanted to learn as much as she could.
"We of Alma Kinan can hear their voices," she continued, turning to face him, "some better than others. I take it things are different, where you're from...?"
Well, it couldn't hurt to try again.

In response to him, Yun shook her head, looking a little sad. For all its size and population, Paixao felt empty to her. And, even now, it was a difficult sensation to adjust to.
"Well... it feels like they're all very far away," she elaborated, wrinkling her nose. "I can't hear them too well, either."

She trailed off and tilted her head to look up at the ceiling. Leaving didn't seem like an easy thing to do; the natives seemed so eager to stay inside, and keep everyone else inside as well. But it had to be possible. People were known to disappear suddenly, and unless they were all dead... Well, they had to go somewhere. Outside the gates was as good a start as any.
And if there really were spirits out there, maybe she could speak with them. They might know something.
"Chris would worry if I left," she said quietly, more to herself than to N, "but I might be able to hear them better out there."

"They are very convenient, aren't they?" she agreed, pulling her own out of her bag and turning it around in her hands. It was technology far more advanced than she was familiar with; she had assumed long ago that it was powered by some complicated rune magic. "But I'll let you know as soon as I find something, of course..."
She trailed off as realization dawned on her: "I never introduced myself, did I?" Giggling softly, she glanced over at him and grinned. "I'm Yun."

...o-omg I'm sorry this took so long! ;;
"Thank you, N," she said, climbing to her feet, still smiling. Though N's smiles might be insincere, Yun's rarely were. "Good luck."
