Getting to know each other... again! [Active]
Character(s): Misha (
angelicklutz), Danny (
muffinsplz), Valerie (
valerie_dark)
Content: When the unusual weather strikes, Misha, Danny, and Valerie all take cover as they try to decide what to do next.
Setting: Haja o Que Houver, Vanaheim [F4]
Time: Daytime, directly follows this
Warnings: N/A
The downpour had turned into a steady, sullen shower, and it didn't show signs of letting up any time soon. The cheerful streets had mostly emptied, leaving only puddles and the occasional pedestrian, trying (and failing) to stay dry.
They'd found a new place to stay, and hopefully they would be safe here, a place where bad people couldn't find them or track them down.
Misha and Valerie had left to find rooms at Danny's urging, which was a good idea since once he let go, Misha's wings were visible again. Thankfully, they met no one in the stairway or corridors, and soon enough found two empty rooms.
"Valerie-san," the pink-haired girl said, opening a room door. "We're all wet'su! Do you have something dry to wear'su?"

Valerie watched the little girl dry herself as she tried with all her might to push her little journal escapade out of her mind. It was one thing having random people comment in it, it wasn't like people knew her or anything. It was another to have Dan popping up, saying obscure things and hinting that she might even know more than she was saying. What a load, she thought to herself. The only thing that really bothered her was what he said about her "future" self, because it was already playing on her fear that she might not be able to protect Danny like she wanted to. Now there was this little girl involved too, and if she'd been old Valerie she would have urged Danny to dump her somewhere safe, because there was no reason to get her involved in dangerous things like that. In a way, she was glad she was here now, because if Dan wanted to torture Danny further he'd attack her and not Misha again.
She glanced at her dry but now poofy hair and sighed. It always got frizzy like that when it rained, and she wagered she looked ridiculous now.
"So until Danny comes back, let's have a little girl talk," Valerie said, looking happy. "Tell me about where you're from."
no subject
"Teeheehee!" The angel girl looked very giggly -- but then, she was easily amused.
"Girl talk'su?" Misha repeated. She didn't understand the traditional meaning behind the phrase and instead took it literaly, but the result was the same. "About Heaven'su, Valerie-san?" Her amethyst eyes widened. "Haven't you ever heard of Heaven'su??"
no subject
Valerie smiled. "Something like it, yeah. When you get as old as me though, you tend to stop believing in it in one way or another. Not because you want to, but because, well, a lot of bad things happen, and you start to wonder if its real anymore." She shook her head. "But then, a lot of bad things happen to me anyway, so you probably would be better at telling me what its like."
no subject
She almost told Valerie what she'd told Danny -- that bad things happened, but it was all part of the way that things were supposed to be, because everything always worked out in the end. But like Danny, Valerie was human, and wouldn't understand that. And Misha feared getting another distraught reaction from her, as Danny had felt.
no subject
"I feel old though. I wonder if that counts. To be honest, I've never seen an angel before, and I thought you were a fairy at first. But if I can fight and believe in ghosts, there's no reasons why angels shouldn't exist. Now how about we go get Danny and we rustle up some grub?"
If I said that in Amity Park I'd be a dead woman, she thought to herself. That phrase alone meant the burning of your popularity card.
no subject
Well, not really, but it was a pain. Danny didn't really like having to steal hotel rooms by possessing the desk clerks, but he wasn't about to let Valerie and Misha sleep outside in the pounding rain. Danny chose the lesser of two evils.
He twirled the new rooms keys around his pointer finger and walked steadily down the hall way.
"Misha? Valerie? Where'd you guys run off to?" He said peaking in every opened room. House keeping must have started early, cause half the rooms down that hall were wide open.
no subject
Then her stomach rumbled. "Teeheehee," the angel giggled. "I think I'm hungry'su..."
no subject
Valerie was sometimes a spontaneous girl, and this was one of those moments where she went with whatever crazy idea was in her head.
no subject
no subject
That was wierd, did they run upstairs?
Oh wait. He heard a very distictive "Danny-kun", that meant Misha was near by. Danny continued to look through each of the empty rooms as he came upon them. Finally she was getting to the last few.
"Guys?"
no subject
TOTALLY GLOMPED, probably with Val close behind.
no subject
Valerie was laughing so hard she could hardly breathe, and looked over at Danny. "So," she asked loftily, "did you miss us?"
no subject
Not at all.
Not even when he heard the mini-Angel shout his name did he expect that.
He did however, find himself under a pile of female on the Hallway floor. When Valerie spoke to him he mummbled outsomething incohently and turned bright red.
no subject
Of course the angel girl had NO idea that particular wording had another meaning.

She rummaged through her backpack and looked through the brochure explaining Paixao. "Hmm...says here that this place 'Haja o Que Houver' is booming with activity and live music." She looked out the window and grimaced. "Well, since going outside is pretty much a bust and me and Misha are pretty hungry, why don't we go downstairs, eat something and go see who's playing tonight?"
She grinned, almost leeringly at Danny. "Unless Misha and I did such a good job we left you speechless Danny?"
no subject
Danny let out an awkward cough and quickly got to his feet. He shrugged the whole ordeal off and gave them a genuine smile. "Of course not! Ha, nice...er, joke." He gave them a good natured laugh and subtly grabbed the top of his pants to keep them from hitting the floor at that moment.
Yeah, that was close.
He liked the idea of going to find something to eat, and the idea of hearing some decent music. "I'm Game."
no subject
"Umm'su," she said with a little laugh. "You two go ahead'su..."
After all, they probably wanted to talk by themselves, right?
no subject
She grabbed Danny and led him by the hand, and Danny watched as the good natured grin slowly left her face. "Misha's really perceptive isn't she? You know, I'm really glad you found her, because between the two of us, we make a really bad Country song! Or is called Emo nowdays?" She shrugged. "Danny, at the risk of getting into a lot of unpleasant memories, I'm going to ask a simple, direct question. Don't ask me a why or a how, because if you do, it'll just make things really awkward. So here's my question."
Valerie took a deep breath and stared Danny square in the face. "What do you know about Vlad Masters?"
no subject
That question gave him quite a bit of shock.
"Vlad? He's my dad's old college buddy, atleast in my dad's mind he was. Vlad hated him though for some crap about my mom." Danny answered. He hated thinking about his parents again, because the were gone.
no subject
Valerie sighed impatiently. "Forget it. I don't even KNOW why I brought this up. Tell the truth, I'd rather not talk about 'Vlad bastard' anyway. Let's go see what there is to eat! Hey...like muffins? They'd be a nice dessert!"
Without another word, she grabbed Danny's hand and pulled hi downstairs. She knew she was just being insanely assertive, but now she wanted to put as much distance between Dan, Vlad and Danny that she could muster. Plus, she happened to know Danny's soft spot and wouldn't hesitate to use it.

She went into her room and set her To-Heaven box down, rummaging through it. She pulled out her old school uniform and laid it out on the bed. She began unfastening the ties on her black and white dress. Even though Valerie had dried her off with the towel, she was still damp and she was a bit cold. So she'd just change, no problem.
Misha really hoped that Danny and Valerie would have a nice talk and find something good to eat, even if it was by themselves.
Once she was changed, she sat down on the bed and took out a special, soft brush. It was a feather-brush, and she took her wings across her lap and began brushing them out. The charred feathers just fell out, but the not-damaged ones definitely needed to be combed.

He was somewhat unnerved when she mentioned her working for him, and doing things she didn't like to do. The way she talked, she might already know the things he feared about. But he wasn't going to think that far. Danny's plan was always to play dumb, no matter what.
"muffins?" Danny perked up, completely forgetting the prior conversation. "I haven't had a muffin in ages!" He said grinning.
He let her drag him down to the lobby and into the entertainment room. The place decorated very nicely, and as well as having tables and a bar in one part, there was a live band playing in the other corner. Finally there was something he could look at that looked vaguely normal, something he could honestly relate to home with and it made him feel....good
There was an obvious light in his face for the first time in a long time.

They walked over to the tables and sat down promptly, and Valerie immediately got into customer mode, waiting until a rather boisterous looking old man came to their table. He smiled at her and she returned the favor. She glanced over at the restaurant. Her eyes wandered over to menu, and she was surprised to find the food they had similar to the types of things they ate in Amity Park.
"I'll think I'll have the shrimp dish, but for a drink I'll have some hot cocoa, and for dessert a blueberry muffin. Oh, and please, if you have some tartar sauce, I'd appreciate it." She looked over at Danny and smiled. "I have a thing for fish. You order next Danny, I'll be right back."
It hadn't escaped Valerie's mind that they'd need money for all this, so she figured it was the best time to check that whole "money growing on trees" theory.

With nothing else to do, the angel girl opened her journal and browsed through some people's entries. For good measure and to clear her mind a little, she almost made a post (http://angelicklutz.livejournal.com/2023.html) before closing it back up.
"I hope Danny-kun and Valerie-san are having fun'su..." she murmured. She was a little bit tired as well, and thought maybe she'd catch a nap while they were downstairs eating.
no subject
"The chicken parmisain sounds nice." He said finally. The waiter nodded and wrote it down.
"Anything else?"
Danny rocked his head from side to side, coming to a conclusion. When Valerie ordered her muffin he raised his brow and quickly skimmed over for what he wanted. Oh there it was!
"Three--FOUR! Four Banana Nut muffins too!" He said slapping the menu down on the table.
He looked around and saw that Valerie was gone? Where did she go???
"Val?"
no subject
Valerie always loved the feeling of weightlessness and freedom she had once she was in her suit. It almost made her feel as if she could accomplish anything. Valerie didn’t even mind getting wet since the helmet pretty much prevented the usual soakage of water into her hair.
She marked where the hotel was and was on her way, coasting through the sky and searching. If she had tried this on foot, Danny wouldn’t have seen hide or hair of her for a half hour: since lucky and keen eyesight was on her sight, it only took her ten minutes.
She grabbed a handful of the jewels and thrust them into her backpack, and then grabbed a few more for good measure. That ought to take care of us for awhile she thought, and was quickly on her way back.
Once she reached the entrance of the hotel, she deactivated the suit and it vanished underneath her clothes: it was a method she seldom used lest her dad pat her down, but she could get away with it now. She strolled in nonchalantly despite being a little wet, and sat with Danny again. She smiled, and winked at him. "Looks like we won’t have to depend on your powers of persuasion for awhile, Danny! I've gathered a few of those jewels, so we should be OK. If you don't mind, I say we'll just sit here for awhile and eat, and then head to bed. I'm pretty tired."
Luckily, Danny pretty much agreed, and the two ate in almost embarrassed silence, not helped by Valerie occasionally checking her journal and seeing entries from a certain someone. They moved to the live music, but more or less had a very quiet evening, much to Valarie's chagrin. Val picked up the check, and Valarie smiled and gave Danny an awkward hug.
"See you in the morning!" She said and turned away immediately so he wouldn't see her blush.
