Save Your Appetite [Complete]
Character(s): Xaldin, Dragoon Nobodies, Subaru, and Belle
Content: It’s time to play! Xaldin unleashes his Nobodies and revels in the ensuing chaos.
Setting: Near Por Favore’s (I5)
Time: afternoon
Warnings: None so far
There was time enough for sitting, waiting, and observing. Right now was the time for action! It was as if Xaldin was being let out of a cage or pen and was finally able to stretch himself properly. It was time to give Paixao a little hint of power.
He chose the area near the little restaurant, Por Favore’s. It was ripe as any, and there were always people around the establishment. They would all regret being hungry today, wouldn’t they? He silently summoned his Dragoon Nobodies and let them do as they pleased. There were only four of them. Not enough for overkill, but enough to ensure success.
Xaldin had a prime seat to watch the action, too. He stood on the roof of the building next door to Por Favore’s where he could see every happening. As much as he’d enjoy slaying some Paixaoese personally, he would save his energy and let the Nobodies do all the work, staying out of harm’s way, anonymous with his hood raised.
As to whether or not he’d find someone worthy of challenging him personally in this area, he hardly cared. The screaming was entertaining on its own. Blonds fled in every direction. Those who weren’t fast enough were run through by the Nobodies. It was wonderful to be in complete control of an area, no matter how small an area it might be.

“W-what are those things?” She finally managed to ask. The truth was Belle didn’t really want an answer. She wanted to be as far away from those things as possible. But as she watched the people of Paixao flee she didn’t think it would be the best idea to run with them. Her brown hair would make her stand out and draw those things to her even more. She looked around. There had to be somewhere they could hide.
She hoped Subaru would come through on his promise to protect her. He had been right after all, this was a dangerous place. Belle wished desperately that Beast would show up by her side in this instant and magically take her back to the castle. But the more attacks she saw the more she realized wishing wouldn’t help her. She needed to run.

He wonders for a moment if he should create a Kekkai or not. It does not seem to have been caused by the Angels, so creating a Kekkai would be useless as it might lock the white creatures away with the civilians. Narrowing his eyes in exasperation, he quickly turns around and takes Belle's hand without question. He will deal with courtesy later. Running out to the middle of the street, he holds on tight to Belle's hand while looking around for some place she can hide in.
Letting out an annoyed snort, he lets go of Belle. "Stay behind me, scream if something comes to you," he says monotonously as if guarding Belle is simply a duty. "Shuku. You. Dou," Subaru pulls out more Ofudas, throwing them around Belle and himself to form some sort of rotating ring. "Hikuu," he exclaims while folding his hands in front of him. Some of the rotating Ofudas turn into white doves with black stars on their backs, rushing away towards the white creatures like bullets.

They all stopped smashing their current targets and turned to glance at one another. A look of consensus passed among them. That had been energy. That meant someone with skills and possible battle abilities was in the area.
Finally, the challenge they’d been waiting for!
The Dragoons all began moving towards the source of the attack, the man guarding a scared-looking woman. The man had more to give, certainly, and this time they wouldn’t be taken off guard. One Dragoon was lopsided from the damage dealt, but the rest were still able to wield their spears properly.
The Dragoon that had taken the lightest of all the hits led the advance, closing in on the targeted man first.

And then two people had left Por Favore’s. Two outsiders, Xaldin noted, as their dress and appearances were very different from the regular citizenry. At first, Xaldin had no interest in the man, for right before him was one of the Princesses of Heart. What an amazing find in the city! The Superior would be pleased if he could get her alive. Perhaps Vexen could use her as a control subject in one of his experiments, too.
This chain of thought proved far too distracting. Xaldin felt a ripple of energy as the ofudas were unleashed. And then his Nobodies staggered, taking the hits hard. But they had regrouped and were now closing in on the couple. He’d best keep an eye on the man. He could manipulate energy and might be a challenge worth taking on personally. He would continue to watch.
But the Princess being right there might cause him to force his hand sooner than later.

Her eyes widened when she saw the Nobodies approaching. She heard him tell her to scream if they got to close. And they had definitely gotten closer. “Watch out!” She yelled, take a few steps back as they came closer.
Belle wished she could actually help in some way. But she didn’t see any way to stop those things and she had no magic of her own. At least none that could have helped her. She didn’t even have anything to swing at them to protect herself. She didn’t like feeling so helpless. But all she could do was keep her eyes open for some hint on how to stop them.
They seemed to be drawn to high energy sources she noted. She didn’t know how noticing this would help her, but it couldn’t hurt to observe as much as possible. She hoped they didn’t absorb energy shot at them to release a stronger hit, like in one of the books she read. Her eyes flew about taking everything in, and she stood very alert so that she could run if needed.

Narrowing his eyes in slight annoyance, he quickly folds his hand to send out several more Ofudas to stop the first of the creatures from attacking him. When he noticed that Belle took a few steps backwards, he quickly catches her wrist, trying not to grip her hand too hard. "Don't go too far from me," he warns her. He would be less constrained if she were to run away and hide during the battle, but he does not want to take the chance of her getting caught by one of the strange creatures. She would be better off hiding behind him for the while.
Folding his hands to prepare for another attack, Subaru ponders on whether he should keep on attacking half-heartedly using his Ofudas or resort to stronger attacks to finish the creatures once and for all. He is still unsure of what the creatures are or if they are some kind of animal. If they are animals, or any living being for that matter, Subaru is unwilling to kill them. If they keep on attacking, he probably needs to immobilize them somehow, but he does not want to kill them.

The other Dragoons considered this and sent one of their remaining three out to continue the destruction elsewhere. It scurried off. That left two to take on the strange man with the energy and the woman. One Dragoon stormed the man, raising his spear to strike, while the other went around to the side, waiting as backup and keeping his eye on the woman, snapping his teeth at her to frighten her.

If either of the remaining two were destroyed, Xaldin would personally tend to the outsiders. The Princess of Heart right there made him anxious, and he paced along the rooftop. He wanted to go after her immediately, but if his Nobodies had the situation in control, there would be no need to involve himself. But she was right there! It would be shameful indeed if he couldn’t catch a helpless woman like her.
He chose to wait, though that was much harder than simply running down there and taking on the two himself. Patience. The Organization always stressed patience. If he rushed this, it might fall apart.

She wanted very much to run. But she listened to Subaru and stayed close by. The thing that crept around to watch her did scare her. She let out a little scream but tried to keep it in. The last thing she wanted was to be a distraction to Subaru. And she refused to let this bit of fright make her run away like those useless women that made situations worse in some of the books she read. But she was rather useless at this point, she thought to herself.
Belle looked around still. There had to be something she could do to help. But with this thing watching her she doubted very much that she’d be able to do anything except have a staring match, and she doubted even more that this thing would have so much patience. Either way it was best for now, just to let Subaru handle things.

Twitching a little from the small scream that Belle let out at the snarling creature, he jumps to the other side while dragging the girl along to dodge the attack of the other one. He holds her close to him as he draws a symbol on the air with two of his fingers. The creatures are most probably not animals because of how the defeated one disappeared into black smoke, so Subaru can just kill them off without feeling guilty. He has more guilt than he can bear as it is. Placing both his hands in front of him, he starts chanting as the symbol he drew on the air glows slightly white.
The wind around the area circles around the four of them as beams of light almost unseen by eyes emerge from the ground. The beams converge into one, creating the vague shape of a star when seen from above. Subaru is unsure of whether the creatures would be affected by the attack or not since it is usually used only for demons or magical creatures. Seeing the way one of them disappeared, however, Subaru figures that this attack would be best because of its efficiency for supernatural beings. He still has to go after the one that ran away after defeating these two, after all.

The last Dragoon kept going, hurtling away from the energy that had destroyed its kin. Surely its master couldn’t blame it for wanting to exist further, right? Just for good measure, it struck down a fleeing man. Then he used his spear to break several storefront windows. Destruction!

Xaldin jumped down to the ground, intending to take over for his dragoons. He could always summon more, but what was the point if the man was just going to send them all to their destiny anyway? Best to quell this threat as soon as possible. Besides, the Princess of Heart was within reach. She was worth the gamble this would be.
He approached the two, still hooded. He walked in his usual manner with his arms tucked neatly behind his back. “You are a regular town savior, sir,” he addressed Subaru. “This area is dangerous. Might I escort your lady friend to safer haven while you finish the last creature? I would hate for anything… unseemly… to happen to her while you were distracted.” He made his voice calm and pleasant, non-threatening in any way. If he could accomplish this through wit alone, all the better.

She felt safer with Subaru. She had seen that he could protect her. When he killed those things it was for the good of not only her but of everyone else too. Not only that but where would this man lead her? How did he know where safety was. The attacks just started and he certainly didn’t look like he belonged her anymore than she or Subaru did, so how would he know where to go?
Belle had too many questions in her head. She didn’t think it would have been a good idea to go with this man. Where had he come from? She stepped a bit closer to Subaru to make her point. She had no intention of going with the man. It didn’t feel right.

Tightening his grip around Belle's hand a little, Subaru looks at the shadow under the man's hood. If he could only see the man's eyes, making the decision would be easier. Belle seems unwilling to be handed over to the stranger, but Subaru needs to stop the destruction caused by those creatures as fast as possible.
He lets out an almost silent sigh while letting go of Belle's hand. Without a word, he takes a step to turn in the direction where the creatures fled to. A thought stops him from jumping away for a moment, "where is this safer haven?" Subaru plans on picking Belle up after taking care of the creatures.

“The safe haven I have in mind is simply the central Actua Are. In these times, the hotel becomes fortified and is an excellent place of protection. It might be a long walk, but I have methods of shortening it.” He cringed at the sound of a woman’s piercing scream. Truthfully it hardly bothered him, but it was all for the show.
“I promise no harm to her,” Xaldin continued. “She will be safe with me until your return, and then you two can get along with your business. Please,” he said, adding a note of desperation into his voice. “I would hate for anything to happen to such a pure rose blossom.”
no subject
She hoped the man would be nice to her. She didn’t like how the man described her as a “pure rose blossom”. It reminded her too much of Gaston and she shuddered. He had better not be like that, she thought. That would annoy me to no end.
Belle looked around at the screaming people. “We should take some of these people with us. They need safety too.” She took a few steps towards Xaldin. “How are you going to make the walk shorter?”
no subject
He listened as Belle voiced her concern over the mundane citizenry. He made a dismissive gesture with his hand. “They’re as safe as can be with your friend taking care of the threat,” he said brusquely. “At the moment, I am more concerned over your safety. If any harm were to fall on you, the consequences would be dire.”
He approached Belle slowly. “As for making the walk shorter, I know some magic that will help. You’d need to give me your hand, first.” He extended his hand for hers. If she shied away, he’d simply grab her wrist. She was a weak woman anyway, and now she was his for the taking. There might be a little roughness in the delivery of the goods, but the mission would be none the worse for it. Neither would the goods.
no subject
She looked towards Subaru. I hope he is able to finish them off, she thought. She looked back at Xaldin. “Ok. I’m ready to go to the hotel you mentioned” Belle wasn’t sure why this man was so concerned for her, unless he of course knew she was a princess. Maybe he was from France too. She’d ask him about that when they got there. But for now she braced herself. She wasn’t sure if this magic would make for a bumpy ride or not.

A deep chuckle rumbled in his throat. “Yes, madam, I know magic.” He extended his free arm, creating a dark portal just beyond his fingertips. Hell if they were going to a hotel. This one might need to be taken to a farther holding cell. “Hold on tight,” he added needlessly, pulling her after him into the darkness.
A well-deserved success, if he did say so himself.
