Efforts To Waste [Completed]

Character(s): Ash
Content: Ash continues to search for Marona after his encounter with Yoruichi, gets into a battle, and basically is completely oblivious to the fact he’s going in the wrong direction.
Setting:  M4 to M7
Time:  Afternoon
Warnings: Mild Violence.

Ash was making things more difficult. Of course, he had the slightest idea of the troubles he was causing, he most likely would have stopped. Yet, he was still very skeptical of Yoruichi and her abilities. While she had, seemingly, disappeared in a flash – this didn’t help to comfort him in her. Rather, it influenced his beliefs in the exact opposite and failed to calm his fears when it came to Marona.

Had he known that Yoruichi had found the girl or that she was in the safe company of another, he probably wouldn’t have been so on age. He would have been more cautious, taken more time to figure out a suitable plan of action rather than diving headfirst into such a dangerous situation.

Still, he had managed to take to mind some of what Yoruichi had said. For he was trying his best to stay concealed, knowing very well this would not help him in finding Marona. A battle would simply take up more time, and even though Ash was now willing to fight it if he must – the fact was that he wanted to avoid it.

The monsters managed to cause some considerable destruction around the area, and although there wasn’t many of them left – they still were formidable. The remaining of their group stalking whatever remained of the visible population. The sight had made his stomach churn but there was nothing he could do. For he had to reach Marona and she was first priority in his mind. As much as he wanted to help the civilians, he knew he didn’t have the time.

He was not excluded from the attack, however, as some of the monsters went after him. They tailed him as he maneuvered through the winding streets. He had managed to lose some of them as he picked up the pace, but some he had to face in battle. Reluctantly, he had used his energy to become tangible in order to deal with these opponents.

At first, they had proved to be quite difficult, managing to slip easily and dodge his blows. They managed to appear behind him or to the side of him on several occasions, attempting to deal their own damage to him. While most of these were avoidable, some of the blows had managed to hit their target and created wounds that he would possibly regret later. Time was short though, and he couldn’t focus time to deal with the wounds. Instead, he focused on finding a weakness that these creatures had so that he could end the battle.

The weakness came quite soon, he realized, as he attempted a fake-out with two of the creatures – managing to land a hard kick to the back of the duo. He tried it again, and it proved to be quite an effective means of fighting them. He simply would fake an attack, then run behind them in order to confuse them. With the confusion, he was allowed to create a chain of blows that would damage the creatures. Several times of repeating this process and he managed to defeat the small group following him.

He was not surprised when there was a lack of corpses upon the ground. For it only gave more evidence to the surmise he had started to form ever since meeting the creatures. Ash had no time to think of this, though, or to truly attend to his wounds. It was not necessary for him to wrap his wounds either – for although he had obtained the wounds, no blood seemed to come from them.

This was probably one of the few advantages Ash had on his side at the moment. His injuries still hurt, but not enough to truly hinder his search. For his will was much stronger than to succumb to something as simple as that. Putting both the early signs of fatigue and the pain from the wounds in the back of his mind, he continued his search.

Little did he know that all his efforts were being wasted due simply to the fact he was headed in the wrong direction.
