Dreams are the things of Rude Nightmares [Complete]

Character(s): Ivy
Content: Ivy arrives in Paixao and receives a warm welcome from her landing, a womanly gatekeeper, and the colorless stalker that can't get enough of him. Just the usual entry stuff.
Setting: Muspelheim Gate
Time: Daytime
Warnings: A single word, a little violence... [Do not drink while reading please.]

Clarity was confused and transient, vanishing in the blink of a squinting eye as sensitive eyes encountered the thick, painful beams of wholesome light. The cool darkness provided by closed lids was a relief fated to be temporary...unlike the sharp, mind-throttling migraine that made its presence known when the sea and the sky met within those same eyes again.

It was a painting, reflective of a dream...

The tensing of muscles, accompanied by the dull ache that washed through the majority of the body, contradicted her previous assumption and dared to dictate otherwise, prompting a startling realization: it wasn't a dream.

Immature panic melted away and allowed room for confusion to rise as slender fingers found the single most important treasure to be had in dream or reality. Clutching her beloved with a gloved hand, Ivy sat up slowly and allowed her eyes to fall upon what should have been the floor of Valentine Mansion. She had meant to move faster, but the contents within her skull lurched forward and warned against it. It was only after she found some solid piece of mind that she opened her eyes and made a startling discovery.

The floor had been misplaced, as had the ceiling, and the text she had been deciphering for months was nowhere to be seen. Speaking of nowhere...

"The bloody hell...!" The white-haired woman whispered, pushing the uneven white tresses from her left eye with her free hand as she stood.

A quick study was made of her immediate surroundings. There was an abandoned kiosk and...a gate whose very composition was questionable. The architecture of the structure was astounding and might have led to a more positive inquisition as to its origin had it not been for the familiar silence that hung like a thick blanket over the immediate area. It had been the prerequisite of danger in the past. The wordless warning was acknowledged with a careful overview of the unfamiliar scenery, but nothing presented itself to her.

Turning her attention to the gate once more, Ivy began the task of closing the distance between herself and the grand structure. She needed answers...and the gate before her was the only logical course she could see at that moment. It was also directly related to the only question whose answer she could acquire immediately, but just as she was about to pass through a familiar sound killed the foreboding silence.

The scream was accompanied by other sounds...sounds resulting from the movements of some entity that was not human and could not have possibly have been any creature she knew of.

Ivy turned and drew Valentine in a single, fluid motion just in time to see a blond man hurl himself over the counter of the kiosk. His company was not far behind him - a strange creature lacking color and eyes. Its movements were bizarre; its intentions were undoubtably negative. She raised a brow as it turned its attention to her and began to slither in her direction. She stood her ground, the look upon her face conveying a clear lack of amusement.

"What a pleasant welcoming committee," she chuckled, shaking her head.

The creature began to draw itself up from the ground, preparing to pounce.

Shhhling! Valentine was forcefully motioned to her back, the sword collapsing into a string of blade fragments as she willed it. The snake sword was drawn up from the ground in a swift, circular motion, catching the creature mid-air and sending it upward at a distance. No sooner had she done this did she push herself from the ground and strike, like a serpent, in mid-air...resulting in the creature's...disappearance.

Ivy landed upon the ground, giving her blade a slight upturn to draw the fragments into a whole again. She didn't bother trying to make sense of the creature's disappearance. Nothing had made sense since her arrival in this god forsaken place. She only hoped the man cowering behind the kiosk could give her some answers.

The white haired woman sighed and approached the kiosk, placing a hand upon the table as she leaned forward to peer at the coward she had aided. "Sir--"

"N-name?"

"Pardon me." Ivy raised a brow, glancing over her shoulder briefly to assure herself that the creature really was gone.

The man seemed slightly annoyed as he repeated the word slowly. "Nay-muh?"

"None of your business. Now," she crossed her arms under her chest, "what is--"

"NAME???"

Ivy was reminded of her headache, but suppressed a wince. The mounting irritation was of little help to her. While she might have had the patience to endure such insolent behavior at any other time, she was lacking the means at the moment.

"Ivy."

"Here." The man shoved a rather odd looking device into her hands and returned to his position beneath the kiosk with a muffled, "Welcome to Paixao!"

"He--excuse me!" Ivy leaned over the counter, but it was quite obvious by the trembling motions that shook the kiosk itself that the man wasn't coming out. She straightened herself up and turned from the kiosk. Glancing over her shoulder, she snickered, "Coward."

A cool breeze rose. The woman rubbed her bare shoulders, pausing briefly as she caught the scent of...fresh air. It was..nice...but she didn't have time for that. She needed to find something to cover up and gather some intelligence concerning her whereabouts. If it was involved...

A light sigh fell from her lips as she glanced up at the gate again, casting aside her frustration as she inhaled again. Her eyes flickered ever so slightly. "Paixao, eh..?"

She shook her head after a moment and sighed, stepping through the gate.
