Character: Kidd... and anyone in the area!! (mention in settings)
Content: Kidd gets paid from her job. Oh yes. Moolah.
Setting: Café Ersesat [H8]
Time: PM3
Warnings: It's raining and cold, due to the wintry season~~
Payday is sweet. It is oh-so-sweet. That meant Kidd could do herself the favour of actually getting food, and maybe in a week, a place to live. How dreary those terms were. But she had money to spare; with whom would she share it?
Kidd walked back into Café Ersesat, and asked for a drink. She looked around at the lifeless, but smiling, Paixao citizens. Had they no vigor in life? No pain? No amusement? It was eerie, sometimes, and it was even moreso that it was raining outside, with a grey sky like a tuned-out television. The poor lighting seemed to drain all the soft colours out of everything, making it all appear even more black-and-white, like a picaresque, and eerie, forgotten picture.
She received her hot drink and found her victim, a thinking man sitting alone at a rounded, short table.
"'Scuse me, can I interest you in a drink? My treat."
The man shook his head, and held up his own steamy coffee. Kidd shook her head, already irritated.
"What? Ain't my hospitality good enough for you? Or are you some kinda hoity-toity, pompous fella?"
The man, thoroughly offended, got up, folded a book he was reading under his arm, and grabbed his coffee walking out of the Café. Some people, she thought, looking for a new victim. This time, a pretty woman with her girl friend, chatting about some inane subject. Kidd came close to their booth.
"Hiya! Can I get you ladies some hot beverage on a rainy day like this'n?"
The women looked to her, in a snotty way, appalled by her bright choice of showy clothing. As if wearing a bright, bloody red colour was horribly distasteful. Which it was, sort of, in Paixao, Land of the Colourless.
"What's so horrible about it?"
Kidd's eyebrows bunched downward in anger.
"Well, ain't you just a prissy lass! All I asked was if you wanna drink, or not."
The women grabbed their things and huffed by her, inching past her very angry exterior which she assumed only bothered them more.
"A free drink ain't good enough, is it!?" she shouted after them.
She returned to the counter, moody, sipping on her drink, glaring maliciously at the surrounding people who were watching her.

Sidetracked meaning he had run into some odd white things that were squiggling around. They didn't look too dangerous, but when he had passed them by one had torn a nice gash into his new pants. That had quickly put him in a different train of thought. Namely, attack it. It wasn't human and didn't drop to the ground and yell in pain or anything. It wasn't even like an animal. So he'd decided to avoid any others, taking a long out of the way path to ... a cafe.
Fine, he was hungry, might as well stop. Akira slowed on his ATs, coming to a stop in front of Cafe Eresat. He blinked and then went inside, looking around for the counter and to see if they had any food of substance.

The door to the café opened, and Kidd, although still hoping to make friend with enemies, didn't think to turn around. She thought it was probably just one of those senseless morons again. But anything could happen. She ended up in Paixao after all, so what more could she expect of thise blah city? She decided, and turned to see the interesting man who'd come through the door.
Woah.
Not blonde-haired and blue-eyed? Wearing dark, tough colours against the pastel world of Paixao? She knew this guy wasn't from Paixao. He couldn't have been. He wasn't anything like them. He was definitely different, even down to his slit pupils, that gave off a very strange look and eerie, cat-like essence. Kidd jumped from her seat and came close to the man.
"Hey, mate. How's the weather treating you?"
Maybe she was coming off to strong?

She couldn't be too old either. She didn't appear to be from his world either, with the clothes and the accent and all. Too bad, he would have been happy to see someone he knew for once. Hopefully she wasn't from Bakura's weird version of Japan either.
"Not too shabby," Was his reply to her question, tilting his head up to look at the 'sky' briefly, before meeting her gaze with a bit of a roguish grin, "How's it treating you?"
no subject
Kidd snapped out of it.
"Hehe," she chuckled nervously, "care for a drink, mate? My treat!"
She hurried over to the counter where the high-nosed Paixao clerk waited, trying to hide her pink cheeks with fluster. He really ain't like the Paixao freaks, she thought. Maybe he's just like me, she considered, stuck in this world, totally misplaced... She took a wild guess.
"You ... ain't from around here, are ya?"
She smiled, thinking she'd got it right.

"...your treat? I don't know if I can turn that down," He followed a bit behind her, gliding on the ATs. Now he felt conspicuously tall, since the wheels added a good couple of inches to his height. Oh well. He stuck out anyway in these Paixao people.
"Nope, I'm from Japan .... if you've heard of it." That last bit was tacked on belatedly. She might not have, if Bakura was right.
no subject
"Japan... Nope, ain't heard of it before. So, I guess it's true, then. I ain't from this world either."
She smiled devillishly.
"But I'm sure you noticed that."
Looking him over, he really was sort of strange. I mean, he had wheels on his shoes. Come on. Even Kidd wasn't that random. But moving around... that would help pilferi—I mean, it would help to get around.
"So, what'cher name?"
no subject
"...Yeah, hard not to notice it. Where are you from, then?" Maybe she was from a weird alternate America or something. Or Mars. Yeah, he could see her being from an alternative Mars, uhhuh. Clearly Paixao was placing a bit of stress on Akira's logical thinking. "...Akira Udou, it's nice to meet you. And you are...?"
no subject
"Me? Well... I was livin' in a place called El Nido Archipelago..."
Which was so much more lively than this place.
"Oh! Akira? Well, nice to meet'cha!" She grabbed at his hand, in an attempt to shake it, and maybe a little vigourously. "They call me Kidd. It's sorta like... a mysterious name, ya know? Somethin' ta throw ya off-balance!" She laughed, thinking of all the times people would be surprised and say "You were such a nice girl!" when she stole their things. He interest returned to the things on Akira's feet.
"Now, might I be askin' ya, what are those?"
She knealt by them, trying to get a closer look.
no subject
"...ATs...You've never seen them before?" Just like Bakura in that respect. Maybe he should just carry around a little card he could show people to explain what they were. "Do you know what a rollerblade is? A bit like that," he flexed his knees and pushed backwards a little. The motors in the ATs reacted and slowly pushed him backwards. ATs took a lot less effort than rollerblades or any other skating incarnation.
no subject
"Roller blade? ... Nah, I ain't heard of 'em. But they look like pretty mobile savvy."
Engines... Were engines necessary? Why didn't he just push himself around? Then again, you couldn't escape from a very fast moving hunter if you ran. Sometimes... but more or less, you'd die before much else could happen. She got the feeling she'd love them if she had a pair.
"Hey, mate. Could ya show 'em to me? Y'know, how they work and how fast they go? I'll be damned if I'm super interested."
Thinking of outside, though, maybe that wasn't terribly smart. It was still raining. Lighter now, but still wet. It was up to Akira. Kidd was up for anything particularly dangerous.
no subject
"...They go pretty fast, I can show you now~" And he was never afraid of any danger. Perhaps it was a bit of a stupid streak on his behalf, but Akira had always liked to push the envelope a little. He moved towards the door, "...'less you got something else to do?" There was a bit of a tease in his voice.
no subject
"Busy? Puh-lease! I ain't got anything to do here in this backasswards city."
She put a hand on his upper back and gave it a good whack, letting him know she was A-okay with the situation at hand.
"Just don't kill yaself! I think these Paixao folks would really have me arse for it."
((Sorry for the shortness~ Really))
no subject
"...you ready?"
He'd go from a standstill, not even bothering to bend down. The high jumps and aerial acrobatics he'd leave to people who thought themselves to be birds. Akira had other loves in the world than just the sky. Akira took a step back, bracing the front wheel on the ground and pushed down. He waited for the engine to whirr and then pushed off. The result was that he zipped off, much like a sprinter, only faster.
no subject
"That's some stuff!!!"
Machines were not her expertise, but understanding things was. The rest of the lame, boring, slow-moving Paixao world needed things like ATs and RollerBlades, and all that. Kidd would probably enjoy it better knowing these strange and oddly cheery people actually had something to be happy about.
"How does it do that, mate?! Bloody hell, that's somethin'."
She trailed after him, hoping to catch him when he stopped.
no subject
Akira didn't stop. He probably should have, and turned around and talked to Kidd. Instead he kept going. He hadn't skated like this in a long time. Akira made the ATs move a little faster.
Maybe he couldn't fly, really. But this was close enough.
