Face of the Devil [Complete]

Character(s): Urahara Kisuke
Content: Urahara gets the itching feeling for confrontation. He catches one too many glimpses of Lumens for his liking.
Setting: Muspelheim area.
Time: Evening.

Tension. It ran through every part of him, and truly, Kisuke wasn't so sure he liked the feeling. He had awoken that morning with a nagging sensation of unrest and had promptly slipped into a brooding kind of disposition. If Ichigo saw him now, he'd definitely wonder what the man hadn't eaten that made him so sour. Luckily for the both of them, the red-head was not here to make such comments. Though he was now considering that a bit of human contact would be a good thing at the moment.

Just... something... anything to pull him out of this annoying mood. His expression darkened even more, gaze focused on the street in front of him. Sharp grey eyes caught the strange movements of the oddly glowing creatures-- lumens, if he recalled correctly. They had been flitting about all day, hiding just out of the edge of his sight, allowing the blonde man to catch but a glimpse of a leg or a tail or maybe some feathers before they hastily ran off. Every brush with the lumens caused a chill to run up his spine. Those softly glowing animal-like creatures seemed all well and good, but the ex-captain felt a distinctly dangerous aura floating around them. He then supposed he was lucky that they stayed away from him. Well... away enough.

Unlike this mood. It was still hanging above his head like an ominous cloud. Kisuke was starting to figure that it had nothing to do with how little sleep he had gotten and that it had probably everything to do with Aizen.

Eugh. Sousuke.

The blonde snorted, mostly to himself, at the thought. Although he considered himself to be a rather patient man, Kisuke found that Aizen tried every bit of his nerve. The other man was so horrifically wrong about--- well, everything. But he insisted that he would make things perfect, that the world would be so much better after all his plans were finished.

Hadn't he read history books enough to know that people (or Shinigami) with god-complexes usually went down in flames?

Guess not.

And for some reason, it made Urahara want to strike him down even more. To just topple the traitor off his throne and watch him fall. After all, it was what the other man had done to Soul Society and what he had watched Kisuke himself do just 100 years before upon his exile.

He could swear to this day that the man had smiled as he walked through those gates onto Earth. In all other respects, Urahara had not regretted leaving Soul Society with Yoruichi at his side, but now he was seriously wondering if he could've seen what Aizen was up to if he had stayed.

No, best not to dwell on "what ifs".

Another flicker caught his attention and when he looked, there was a lumens staring straight at him. Fingers instinctively curled around the handle of Benihime before it fled, tail jolting back and forth as it ran off. He frowned, wondering what exactly those things wanted besides annoying him. Closing his eyes, the blonde decided not to care about them right now, only wanting to concentrate on Aizen, the bastard. Faintly, he picked up a trail of the man's energy--- back in the Joutenheim direction.

Maybe it was time to pay a visit to an old friend.
