The Prince took back what he had said (thought?) before. Dante wasn't just strange; he was a crazy, mean old man! The Prince shrunk away from him, tears already forming in his eyes. "Queen Jenet wouldn't do that, not to The Prince!" His lips pulled into a tight line as he tried to keep his crying at bay. It gave him the look of a strange combination of anger, sadness, and constipation.
As he looked up at Dante's face, The Prince was beginning to think that maybe being left by himself wouldn't be nearly as bad as being left with Dante. But he quickly remembered the last time he had been left alone, which hadn't been pleasant at all. "The Prince will do what you say! Just don't leave him alone!" He didn't stop the tears from falling now, instead pulling his hat over his face to hide them.
