An endless search for...! ... The Endless. [closed]
Character(s): Zidane, Axel
Content: Zidane's on the lookout for the Endless. Though he only knows Del and Death. And he hasn't actually met Death face to face, so he's, eh, screwethed. Axel spots him.
Setting: Ceu de Mouraria [L8]
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: Language. Snark. Not for anyone with a fear of heights. XD
Zidane didn't generally like to make a habit of losing people - or things, or existences, whatever - but lately just being in this city he seemed to lose track of a lot. And it wasn't fair. Bad things just seemed to happen and he, well, he blamed it on Paixao!
So he had to try and make up for it a bit, or at least duke it out with Paixao's essence until he came out ontop and win. Dammit, he would not have a city beat him.
And that was his whole reasoning for being perched out on a building called Ceu de Mouraria - which was slightly difficult for him to even fit alongside the dome atop - and yet the building just seemed fitting for him and he couldn't help but appreciate the architecture or even the purpose of the place.
But the dome was a bit blurry for him to see through if any matinee perfomances were going on, or anything like that, and he couldn't hear anything through it either. He just hoped he wasn't missing something of once-and-a-life-time Excitement.
Zidane kept blue eyes trained on the area around, searching for the one person-thing-being he really met in Paixao. Or anyone that may possibly look related.
Huh. This could be more difficult than he thought about.

He’d felt like strolling right into the Ceu de Moraria on this day, just to see what events they were putting on. Time was his and he would choose just how he’d spend it. Besides, there was always a chance he’d see something (or someone) he very much wanted to around the area.
No luck so far, but that hardly stopped him. There was always something else to see and someone else to harass.
This sentiment proved especially true when Axel saw something a little out of place as he approached the large opera house. He couldn’t be sure, but he thought he saw someone sitting up on top. Who in his right mind would be climbing that roof? It was pretty steep, and the glass really wasn’t clear enough to catch a free show through. The architects had thoughts about moochers.
It was both unexpected and amusing. Who would have thought he’d be so lucky?
Axel walked right up to the base of the dome and looked up. “Hey!” he shouted. “You up there! You know that’s private property, right?” Nothing like scaring that person, whoever it was.

Axel smirked right back at the snarky dome-sitter. How was he staying up there so easily, anyway? After a few moments of looking carefully, he could tell that Senor Saucy had a tail. Unusual! That was interesting on its own.
“You know, if this private property was mine, your flagrant attitude would really piss me off!” Axel called back, cupping a hand near his mouth to be heard better. “But it’s not mine, so if you feel like sitting up there, suit yourself! It just makes having a civilized conversation difficult when we have to yell at each other like animals! What are you spying on anyway, or do I have to come up there to see for myself?”

“Hey, any view’s a great one when you can see women, eh?” Axel called up again. That didn’t matter so much to him as to why He-who-sought-higher-places was up there in the first place. Maybe he was really short when he stood on the ground. “I’ll be up there in a jiffy!’ he sang up.
This was accomplished easily in a matter of moments. Axel disappeared into darkness, and reappeared in the same way up on top of the dome. The dome, being glass and curved, wasn’t the best surface for standing on, so after a bit of arm-pinwheeling, Axel quickly sat down where he could see the snarker. It wasn’t graceful by any means, but it was effective.
“So! You really can see all the chicks you want, huh? Great spot for sitting. You might want to build a little tree fort up here or something, with pillows and refreshments. You know, something to yourself comfortable since you don’t seem to be leaving any time soon.” Axel tilted his head a bit. “What’s your name?”

“Maybe I should have told you that I know a bit of magic,” Axel said, a hint of a smirk showing up on his lips as he looked back at Zidane. “I didn’t mean to scare you like that.” It was funny, though, and Axel had to run his hand over his mouth to straighten his expression out again. “You need some help there, Zidane?” Honestly, the less Axel had to move across this glass, the better. It was precarious and slippery. There was no way to get a good grip on it. His boots slipped across it like nothing and even his gloves didn’t give enough traction to hold on. He stayed on by sitting veeery close to the top of the dome. Besides, Tail Guy hadn’t slipped that much, really.

“So you want my name? You got it. I’m Axel. Nice to meet you, Slippy.” He snorted a bit. “Oh, and you’re very welcome,” he added, because he was just that generous. “Are you really that much of a horndog, or is there really something you’re looking for by sitting up here? Yeah, the view is marvelous, but it’s impractical, especially for someone without magic.”

“All right, Zidane,” he continued, emphasizing Monkey Boy’s name, “who are you looking for? I can help you out. See, I know Paixao pretty well. If you’re waiting for someone, you should make rounds at the city gates. If they’re already in the city, maybe you want to try using this handy dandy little contraption.” He plucked out his electronic journal and waved it a bit. “You do know how to use it, yes? Just tell whoever you want to meet that you’re sitting on top of a giant glass dome. They won’t be able to miss this place. If you want to be technical, this place’s called Ceu de Mouraria. Concerts are usually held here.”

He picked up on the other statement Zidane quietly said. “Oh? Concerts? You’re not going to see them or hear them way up here. You might want to go in through the doorway like anyone else. When this puppy was made,” he said, patting the dome affectionately, “the designers thought about people like you. No one gets a free show from the Ceu de Mouraria!” he declared proudly, still smirking.

“Ah, but that’s why they’re designers. You may not be able to outwit them, but I’ve heard the security here at the Ceu leaves something to be desired. I’m sure you could slip past one of their goons easily.” He smiled confidently.

So Monkey Boy felt caged. It was a natural reaction. Sometimes the domes made people claustrophobic. But the city was huge! There were so many places to go and things to see. And there were four gates. It wasn’t as if it took a genius to figure out that one should go back out the way he came in. But now, with events about to unfold the way they were, the gates were likely all but inaccessible. Ah, well.
“Oh, Zidane, we just met! I didn’t know you felt that way!” Axel laughed. “And to think, just a few minutes before, we didn’t even know each other.” He looked at Zidane sideways, getting more serious. “You don’t think I could sneak in there? I assure you I could, regardless of my hair. But there’s no need for slipping in when you’re a VIP in these parts. I could waltz right in this place any day of the week. I could even get you in to see a show. You’d have to do something for me first. I doubt you’re the bargaining type, though.”

“So you’re open to it, eh? Just what I wanted to hear,” he called down to the tailed wonder. “As I said, I have a certain influence here. I can use it to help you out if you help me first. I’m looking for someone, you see. I lost track of him a little while back. I have no doubts he’s in this city, though. His name is Roxas. He’s got spiky blond hair. Not quite as spiky as mine, but it always looks like he just got out of bed.” He smiled fondly. “And blue eyes. Hard to find in a city like this, I know, but he might be dressed like I am. You’d know him if you saw him.”
It was time to get off the dome now. Once again he called on his dark portal, though standing up to use it took a little bit of time. It opened again on the ground, where he stepped out to look up at Senor Saucy. “Of course, if you don’t specialize in missing persons, I have something else for you to do. You’d need to use your dusty little journal, and watch it closely. If you accept, I’ll make a post in a few days, asking you to meet me here again. You’ll be helping me out either way. What do you say now, huh?” He folded his arms over his chest, expecting to be turned down flat. The monkey man was already looking for someone, anyway.

“You’re better at bargaining than you look.” Axel walked towards Zidane, digging his hand in a jacket pocket as he went. “Here. Take it.” He offered a handful of golden coins to Monkey Boy. “It’s the currency around here.” And he hardly needed it, being the VIP he was. “You’ll be able to buy yourself two, maybe three good meals with this.” He smiled thinly. “Depends on how well you spend it.”
