Not quite business as usual? AKA long-ass thread of DOOM [active]

Character(s): Sora, Riku, Namine, Tod, Kyo, Zelos, Tohru
Content: In which Sora wakes after an exceptionally long nap refreshed, confused, and three inches taller. Then everything happens at once. :X
Setting: Vanaheim area, outside Morem O Lisboa
Time: Mid-week2, afternoon
Warnings: None

It's not that Sora wasn't used to visiting other worlds. It was just that he usually had Goofy and Donald with him, and he normally remembered how he got there. Also, in all his travels, Sora had never before awoken in a strange white pod in the middle of a forest with no recollection of falling asleep. The fact that he'd grown several inches, apparently overnight, was even more disconcerting; he was lucky a mysterious someone had laid out a new outfit for him that happened to fit.

In fact, come to think of it, being in a strange world was the least of Sora's concerns.

With a calmness that can only come from experience with being thrust into strange situations, Sora skimmed through the booklets handed to him as he entered the gate before shoving them into one of the cargo pockets strapped over his pants. "Paixao, huh?" he wondered aloud. He'd never heard of it before, but that wasn't really surprising. There were lots of worlds out there that he'd never heard of. Now where the heck were Donald and Goofy? After a few minutes of searching, Sora realized the city was too big for him to look by himself. He'd have to ask around, at least.

"Ah, excuse me," he said, jogging up to an old woman selling jewelry out of a wooden cart, "have you seen my two friends? One's a duck wearing a blue hat, and the other's a... um... dog... thing... well, he's got floppy black ears, a green shirt, and he's about this tall." Sora held his hand over his head in a rough approximation. "They're named Donald and Goofy."

The old woman stared at him with wizened blue eyes. "Son," she said at last, "if your friends are as strange as you're describing, then I'd definitely remember if I saw them."

Sora blinked. That wasn't quite an answer, was it? "So... you haven't?"

"No."

"Oh..."

"Now are you buying anything or not? I've got some nice silver earrings here - very manly - I'll even pierce your ear for free - "

Sora held up his hands apologetically. "Oh, no thanks! Sorry! Thanks anyway, ma'am!" Grimacing a bit at the thought of a needle being poked through his earlobe, Sora wandered off to stand in the center of the small plaza. He turned in a small circle, his gaze alternating between the buildings around him and the dome that stretched away far above. What kind of world was this? It didn't seem like it was under attack by the Heartless... so why did he come here? And why couldn't he remember arriving?

For once, after a year of wandering, Sora felt a little lost.

"We'll head to the train station now," Riku was talking calmly, glancing to his side to Kyo and explaining what he thought up while he'd been in the shower. He took a rather long one, but he wasn't about to admit that. Though, his hair was remarkably shinier that day. He shifted his Organization coat on his shoulders, letting it hang open as he walked. "And when we get there, we can split up..." he gestured vaguely with a hand, before pulling his journal out. He flicked it open, and began poking about the map with great ease.

It was obvious he got no sleep last night by the many yawns that escaped, but hey... if he was going to find his friends and Kyo's too, well then... He'd have to figure the place out. "One of us could go this way, and the other this way, and then meet back here in about an hour or so..." he just kept theorizing, hoping Kyo was following along with him. He hardly looked up from his journal, and stopped a short distance off from the hotel. "So... the train station is..." he stood there, turning himself around as he watched the triangle that was him shift. Figuring it out, he scratched his chin...

His back in the general direction of Sora where most people would be, as he yawned once more, hiding it behind a pale hand. "About this way, I think..." he sniffed a bit, as though trying to figure if there was anything... dark nearby. He had left that out from Kyo, but it was an innocent sniff, like he had a slight conjestion. He was hoping to find Sora and Kairi today, or either-or.

“Yeah, sounds like a plan.” Kyo said yawning, tired out from his own nightmare. He was a bit sleepy but still ready to do some exploring. He worried what would happen to Tohru if she were alone in this city to long. He was sure that Yuki could handle himself if he had to, nor was he to worried about Shigure.

“If you find a girl with brown hair, and about this tall,” Kyo held his hand about chin level, “Keep an eye on her. She’s kind of an airhead, so I don’t want anything bad to happen to her. She’s way to trusting, but if she doest trust you then tell her that you know Kyo.” Kyo thought for a moment, “Tell her that you know Kyo, the cat.” Kyo didn’t like treading this close to his secret, but it was something Tohru would immediately recognize. Besides, he had a feeling that he wouldn’t be able to hide it much longer.

“What are your friends like, so if I find them I can recognize them.”

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-03 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Sora's about this tall now, probably," Riku held his hand up near his shoulder idly, before realizing... he drew them. "And Kairi's a little shorter... here..." He typed a few things on his journal, before showing the pictures to Kyo. "They look like that." He wasn't sure what happened to Kairi after the doors had closed, but he was sure Sora'd have to know where she was if he found him first...

Riku tucked his thumb under his chin, folding his index finger over the top. He seemed to be thinking for a moment as he stared at the friends as he had drawn them, before closing out of that and making his way back to the map. "I'll make sure to keep her out of trouble if I find her..." he gave Kyo a look, brow quirking up underneath his curtain of hair, however he did not inquire further on the cat subject.

He seemed unphased afterwards with his curiousity, twitching the corners of his lips in an attempt to restrain a yawn... however, he lifted up his armwarmer arm and covered his mouth as it widened incredibly for a yawn. Gah, he was so tired... but he wouldn't sleep after that damned dream. "Well, we should probably figure out which of us is going what way..." He seemed to have a feeling in his gut, one of familiarity, but he was trying to ignore it.

It was likely the sense of duty to keep Sora at attention.

Kyo stretched in a rather catlike fashion, a series of pops and snaps running up his spine. He dropped down to a squatting position and streaked his legs. He felt better now that his blood was flowing a bit more freely. He stood up again, and looked around. He saw a street performer some distance off. “I can head that way, and see if I can find your friends. If we don’t find anyone we might at least be able to find out something more about this city.”

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
"..."

Riku stared at moment as Kyo did his moment of stretching, a brow raising practically off his face underneath the curtain of silvery hair. He started to chuckle slightly, shaking his head a little before closing up the journal and shoving it into a pocket in his coat. "The train station is in that direction... You stay in this district and I'll head to another... there are four of them, with the gates, total..." It seemed the secondary Keyblade wielder had figured out how the world of Paixao might've worked out, in a small portion of such a larger one.

[identity profile] kyo-sohma13.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
“Right, I’ll come back here if I find anything.” Kyo gave Riku a little wave and started off in the direction of the juggler, simply because he had already caught his eye.

Kyo wasn’t sure why, but he was in a rather good mood. Surprising considering the nightmare that he had last night, although, it was somewhat fuzzy in his mind. Maybe it was simply because he hoped to find something useful today. Or it may have simply been his stretching. A healthy morning stretch does a body wonders apparently. He stopped and looked idly at the juggler, wondering vaguely at his purpose. In this city, he doubted that the citizens demanded much entertainment.

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-05 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Riku snorted somewhat as Kyo made his way in the direction of the performer, he instead starting to pass by him. He, unlike those with feline qualities or just Sora's mentality, was not going to get pulled into watching the performer's antics. He was more interested in heading to the next gate's district. He paused a moment, however, when someone tried bartering with him in a monotone manner. If one knew Riku at all, they would know he had little to no patience when interupted on something.

"No, I don't want anything," he tried getting himself out of the situation as calmly as possible without simply walking away. The man might've had something of interest, or at least would be able to exchange something. Riku thought a moment on bartering his Keyblade off, since only he, Sora, or Mickey could've used it and would've been able to summon it back to him... it was tempting, but he'd save it for an emergency.

[identity profile] kyo-sohma13.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
“Well, I would think that that would be a little obvious.” Kyo said in response to Sora’s question. He looked over and then back to the juggler uninterested.

Wait…

Kyo did what was probably a very amusing double take. “Sora, you’re Sora!” Wow, that was surprisingly easy; Kyo had not really expected to find one of Riku’s friends so quickly. Now the only problem would be catching Riku before he wandered off to another district.

Tohru had entered this strange new world less than an hour ago, and had been wandering barefoot, in a white nightgown, clinging to the picture of her mother with white knuckles. She had left the computer near the gate, having absolutely no clue what to do with it. She knew nothing of computers.

Everyone was blonde. So blonde. Was this heaven?

She had stopped crying, but she still looked like a lost little girl. Making her way slowly up to the only person without blonde hair in sight, she slowly approached, very timidly. Every few steps she paused, arge blue eyes looking around nervously. The person with the silver hair looked somewhat intimidating up close, so she quickly turned to the vendor at the last minute, who seemed to look very friendly instead.

"Uh.. uhm. E-excuse me.." She paused, forcing a small smile, bowing in respect. "W-where..."

Tohru Honda stopped, no more words came out. What was she supposed to ask?

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Riku was about to tear himself away from the vendor with great irritation... until... there was a nervous voice next to him that wasn't there before. He hardly paid it much attention, as he eyed most of the merchandise while considering if he honestly wanted to barter any of the stuff. He was just about to turn away, when his turquoise blue eyes caught hold of the brown haired girl and he paused in his movements rather than double-taking. Putting on his nicest smile, somewhat rare as of late, he turned to face her instead of just turning about.

"Excuse me," he began, keeping his eyes on her underneath the curtain of hair he possessed. "Do you happen to know someone named Kyo? With orange hair and brown eyes, about this tall?" he held his hand up, smiling still and seeming curious. "Involved with cats?" He had no idea what cats had to do with this, but hey. He'd have a go at it.

[identity profile] kyo-sohma13.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Sora’s haughty attitude didn’t sit right with Kyo, it seemed rather faked, like someone that wasn’t used to being known. “My name’s Kyo, now come on,” Kyo said as he grabbed Sora unceremoniously by the collar, “We need to hurry before Riku gets to far away.” Kyo figured that he could probably catch up to Riku before he made it off to another district, and if not then they could always wait for him, he would only be gone for an hour. Kyo figured he could use the time to get to know Sora. Two new friends in one week, this was some kind of record for Kyo.

[identity profile] riceball-honda.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Tohru blushed when addressed, but the embarassment and uneasyness snapped away as she stood at attention. When hearing the stranger talk about Kyo, Tohru started to cling to her mom's picture even harder, hugging it now. Taking a step foward, she got closer to him eagerly, waiting for him to say something, anything more about Kyo.

"Kyo???", she paused, eyes wide, mouth parted in suprise. "You know him..?"

Oh mom... this really IS heaven after all!, she thought, a small amount of tears forming in her eyes.

"Is he here?!" Tohru stared at the stranger, face as close to his as he dared, eyes hopeful. "I-Is mom here?!?"

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, he's here." Riku said calmly, tilting his head a little. However, when she started to form tears his eyes opened in alarm. Oh god... how'd Kyo end up here, anyways? He finally took notice of her present clothing, erping a little before his eyes started to appear to be getting greener with a faint pinkening of his partially hidden cheeks. "Mom? Er..." he stared at her as he reached to one side of his coat, pulling out his journal and money and sticking them into a baggy pocket.

After this, he pulled off the Organization issued coat and shifted rather smoothly to put it around her shoulders. "This place isn't what I think you're thinking it is, Tohru..." Riku assumed quickly, having much more logic than Sora often did. "Kyo is very much alive."

[identity profile] kyo-sohma13.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
“Yeah, he’s here,” Kyo said responding to Sora’s outburst. He didn’t seem so haughty anymore. “We had just split up to look for you, I left him here.” Kyo got back to the spot where he and Riku had separated; he looked around hoping that Riku hadn’t gone too far. Kyo wanted the two friends to be reunited as soon as possible. He knew what it felt like to be separated from someone you care about. He wondered once more if Tohru was here, and thought that it would be wonderfully convenient if Riku had found her. Although Kyo knew that the chances of that were highly unlikely.

[identity profile] riceball-honda.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
Tohru couldn't help but frown. Mom isn't here?, she thought with a small audiable whimper, wiping the tears away from her eyes.

"Kyo...", she took a moment to recover from the news, seeming to daze off for a second by staring into the distance, but then realized what she was suddenly wearing. Waving her arms in protest, Tohru seemed a little frantic.

"Ohnono! I can't take your coat! It's Y-YOURS!!", she cried loudly in a sort of panic.

[identity profile] damangedone.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're wearing a nightgown, woman," Riku pointed out, gesturing towards her and tilting his silver haired head back to look down at her. "And I'm not," he teased, smirking a little. "You need it more than I do." He chuckled a little, and was oddly reminded of Sora through Tohru. Both of them were innocent and seemd naive to a point as well. He hoped he could find Sora soon.

"Anyways," he began, slipping one of his hands into a pocket and scratching at the top of his head. "Kyo's at that entertainer, just over theAHHHH." Well, so much for that. Just as he moved his hand to point over in Kyo's direction, he was collided into in a rather loving manner. If he had been alerted of such an action, he would've been prepared and would've braced himself. But, there was no such luck in that, since shortly after he heard his name, there he was.

Landing on his ass, Riku stared at the brown-haired Keyblade wielder that was now attached to him, turquoise-blue eyes wide with alarmed surprise. "Sora!"

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-09-06 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé had just passed through the gate when she heard shouts and a large crash somewhere in front of her. Her legs kept moving forward of their own accord before her mind had worked out that she should be moving away from the large noise. By then it was already too late.

But she needn't have worried. The scene before her seemed to be one of joy rather than chaos. She raised her hand to her mouth as a small smile spread across her lips. It must be nice to display that kind of emotion.

She began to turn away, before a realization hit her. Their hair, their faces, their expressions... they must have been foreigners too. She wanted to ask them, but her shyness would not permit her to break into the joyous reunion. Instead, she lingered on the sidelines to watch.

Kyo was momentarily stunned when Sora broke from him, and bounded towards Riku, Kyo ran to catch up, and laughed when Sora knocked Riku flat on his ass. It was very similar to something that Kagura would do.

It was about this time that Kyo noticed the girl wrapped in a coat that was much too large for her. For about five seconds all of Kyo’s body functions stopped. He randomly thought that he would have to thank Riku for giving her his coat. Once his brain, heart, and lungs started working again, he struggled for something to say, nothing much came to mind, so he simply whispered the first thing that tumbled from his still stunned mouth.

“Tohru?”
