A Reunion~ [completed]

Character(s): Death, Rei, Asuka and Kyoko
Content: Death delivering Asuka to Kyoko and Rei tagging along~
Setting: around Vanaheim, F3
Time: Noon, week 2
Warnings: none yet~

Finding Kyoko is no hard feat for Death. After all, she is used to navigating everywhere, through worlds even, to make sure she is not late for anyone. Waiting sucks, especially when you have just died. She is not humming any Mary Poppins or Disney songs at the moment, she figures that neither Rei nor Asuka would appreciate it. As awesome as she thinks they are, Death knows that it is not everyone's cup of tea.

It certainly isn't her brother's cup of tea. And on that matter, she probably should get this delivery business done as soon as possible so she can hurry over to Dream. He did seem a bit... mellow, the last time she saw him. Well, he is mellow most of the time, but more so than usual. That is very worrying.

Letting go of Rei's hand, Death walks over to Kyoko with a bright smile adorning her face. "Hi Kyoko! Here's Asuka," she practially chirped while indicating the red-haired girl standing beside her. "No need to say thank you, but I do have a favor to ask of you," she puts her sweetest smile, crossing her fingers behind her. It does nothing for luck, she knows, but heck, it's cute anyway!

This odd form of travel was not something Rei questioned. This was the second time Death had teleported her somewhere, but she would like to avoid it again if possible. Rei briefly remembered the trains in Tokyo-3, and how the Commander had taken her to the station to personally show her what routes to take to and from school.

That was right. She was supposed to be starting school soon. Rei filed that in the back of her mind for later contemplation as she felt Death release her. She was about to look down at her hand when her good eye fell on the one Death had called Kyoko.

The Second's mother was an Evangelion? No, that couldn't be right. She looked distantly human, but there was no denying the resemblance to the units. Rei stared at the supposed woman quietly, trying to think of anything that would explain this.

"Anything," she says in a voice soft with fear and relief, barely paying attention to the presence of the First. "You brought my daughter back to me."

Her steps towards Asuka are faltering, fearing that a closer look will dispel the mirage, but the look in the redhead's eyes is undeniable -- her hair limp and lifeless around her shoulders, her eyes flared and darting erratically, her frame gaunt and her skin sallow, she's far from in ideal condition; but she is alive, and that is a miracle Kyoko thought she would never live to see.

She tries to breach that last small distance between them, but finds that she cannot. She merely drinks in the girl's frail form, tears streaming silently from four green eyes.

"....Mutti....?" Asuka whispers softly, her mind reeling with newness. The shock of the transportation, the unmistakeable aura of her mother, and the unearthly visage that Kyoko now seems to inhabit clash jarringly within her, and her eyes dart frantically, unsure how to react. She feels the swirling eddies of insanity begin to drag her closer once again, their waters lapping at her mind's fragile shores, washing over her, and she stumbles as she takes a step, her knees falling to the hard dirt and the friction scraping them painfully.

Dimly, she feels warm breath on her shoulder, another large pair of arms embracing her as she hugs herself tightly, her shivering form being pulled closer to another, larger warm body.

"Mama...."

Rei watched the reunion between the Second and the creature she seemed to consider her mother with the same amount of interest one would have when watching paint dry. As Death spoke to the Second's mother, Rei opened her mouth, looking ready to say something. She did not need the Second's mother to take care of her. It was unnecessary. Yet before she could form the words, Death was touching her hair and then... gone.

At a loss as of what to do next, Rei simply stood still and continued to watch the two before her. She would wait until one of them took notice of her. She doubted if she said something now she would be paid attention to.
