Short as his attention span was, it took Ein a lot of willpower to stay in one place for longer than a few hours. There were so many distractions for a lonely and hungry dog, especially the smells of various delicious foods. At one point, as he sat on the cobblestones outside the station building, Ein could have sworn he heard Ed talking. He jumped to his feet and craned his neck to see over the crowd, but the little redhead was nowhere to be seen.

Furrowing his brow, Ein debated whether to stay where he was or go looking for Ed. After a moment, he shook his head. Your hearing's not as good as it used to be, he told himself. It might not have been Ed. But you know Faye's coming. At least... he hoped she was.

Just then, the sound of someone calling his name drifted over. He turned towards the source and saw a familiar figure in yellow shorts looking around with a rather frustrated air. "Faye!" he barked, and with a happy little Rarf!, he shouldered his way through the crowd to her. "Hi, Faye!" he said when he reached her, his broad grin revealing the small fangs he'd managed to retain. For a brief moment, Ein was confused - Faye seemed different. Then he realized that it was because he was seeing her at eye level for the first time; he was the same height as her now. People looked different when you're about two feet tall.
