let's hear it for the summons! ... or not. [ open ]

Character(s): Carbuncle, and anyone else who wants to join in?
Content: Carbuncle gets "summoned" to Paixao. And finds out he's human. And naked. What?
Setting: Joutenheim gates.
Time: Monday2, afternoon.
Warnings: Sheer, unadultered cute.

"Mii?"

Carbuncle felt something pulling him into another world long before opening up a hole in the ground and jumping through. Wait... somebody was summoning him? This meant somebody needed him! The small god went happily, squeaking as he leapt into the portal he had created. Soon after, it closed up behind him.

...

Gods, why wasn't he in this new world yet? He felt like he was in some kind of dark tunnel. Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up! Finally, he was ready for battle! "Miiii!!!"

...

Wait a second. "... mii?"

This place felt... funny. The weather felt funny. The ground felt funny. Heck, he felt funny. He didn't like the way his fur rubbed against the dirt like that. It was kind of...

Hold on. Where was his fur?!

"MII?!"

Carbuncle pressed his hands against his face, unpleasantly surprised to find that some weird thing was covering it... that weird thing, of course, being his new skin. It was all over his body too, and it wasn't even green! No. No, no, no, no, no. He didn't like this skin. He did not like it at all. Carbuncle let out another pathetic "mii..." and hid his face in his hands again.

Wait, hands?!

"MIIII!" These weren't paws! They were actual human hands with fingers and opposable thumbs! But this wasn't right! He wasn't even the same old summon anymore! Where were the ears? Ears... ears, okay, check. They felt pointy. But where was the tail?

"... mi!" Carbuncle winced as he sat up. Ouch. Okay, found the tail.

The initial shock died away when Carbuncle noticed a line of strange people leading up to a gate. Where was this place, anyway? Hey, what if the person who summoned him was somewhere inside those gates? They must be waiting for him! Curiously, the summon got to his new pair of feet and walked (or wobbled) over to the back of the line. He was coming! Don't worry!

"Name, please."

When he got to the front, he was even more confused. He had to stand up on his tiptoes to get a glimpse of the man before him. He had really nice yellow strings on his head. Carbuncle liked them.

"Hello? Your name?"

He was talking funny, though! Carbuncle furrowed his little green eyebrows and tried to think of a good response. He didn't speak human, but he knew what some of their sounds meant. What was he supposed to tell him? "...miiiii?"

"Yes, you. Name."

"Miii!"

"You."

"MII~IIII!"

The man with the pretty strings eventually got tired of hearing it. "Okay, mister Me," he said, handing him a shiny red box. "Welcome to Paixao."

"...miii?" He liked the shiny box very much.

"Yes. You. Now please go." Pretty string-man pointed at the gates. Carbuncle looked up at them, then hesitantly left the line and made his way through. Was someone waiting for him in here?

... no. No, there wasn't.

This had to be some sort of mistake. Carbuncle squeezed his eyes shut and hoped another portal would just suck him into the right world, but when he opened them again, standing in this strange city with lots of strange people pushing him around like he wasn't even there... and if they weren't doing that, they were looking at him funny. A very bad kind of funny. This wasn't the funny that Carbuncle could laugh at.

Before long, his bottom lip started to quiver, and he couldn't fight back tears welling up in his eyes. Oh, this was all wrong! Somewhere, somebody needed him to protect them! And this world... this world was just scary! He didn't like the gate at all. What if it didn't like him either? It would collapse on him! This wasn't fair at all!! Not knowing what else to do, Carbuncle curled up beside the gates and started crying. He was very lost, very alone... and very unaware of how nude he was.

After some hours of traveling through the city that morning, by the late afternoon Sarabi and Sarafina had reached the Joutenheim area of Paixao. Consequently, wherever the two lionesses went their path was immediately cleared and there seemed to be a trail of empty streets behind them as they made their way.

Oblivious and hungry, but too curious to discover the workings of this world, Sarabi trotted quickly across the cobblestone, annoyed at the awkward feeling between her paws but not trusting what patches of what she could only assume to be grass as she moved along-- it smelt funny, looked funny... it might have been painful to walk on.

Eventually the two came to the second gate of Paixao. Pausing a moment, she paused to look around the area and the concentrated area-- there were several gasps and alarmed screams, and soon the crowd that swelled in that area disappated quite quickly as well.

Sarabi quirked a brow, finding the area virtually clear now save for a small little... creature off against the weird tree... thing... that all of the bald monkeys had been by. He looked similar to them, but he had odd markings and... ears and a tail, unlike them, from what she could tell. She gave a glance to Sarafina and then back to it, narrowing her eyes and crouching low to the ground.

"What is that thing?" she asked her softly.

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Silently she had padded along behind Sarabi, gaze shifting this way and that as they made their way through the town. Perhaps by now all of its citizens had heard of what happened earlier that day.. about the unfortunate boy who didn't know when to back off who had been a light snack for the two lionesses. Clearly they were quick to figure out that poking these animals with sticks was not the greatest idea...

Sarafina just stopped in her tracks when she saw the crying creature before them. That it was naked didn't occur to her as strange, because... well, wild animals didn't really wear clothing either. Its scent was different from the now disliked stench of the other two-legged ones, though, and the sounds it was making were foreign to her as well.

No response was made to Sarabi's question, only the quizical tilt of her head as she silently debated this situation. It seemed as harmless as a newborn giraffe, and she could sense its fear and bewilderment from a mile away. Newborn anything was an easy target, after all...

...Odd.

Sarabi tilted her head slowly as she watched the creature cry for a bit. When it finally stopped and decided to acknowledge the two lionesses, she blinked curiously a few more times. Hesitantly, she rose to her full height, took a glance at Sarafina... and then took a step or two closer to Carbuncle, lowering her head and canting it again as she sized it up.

It seemed too meager to prey on, and it wasn't at all like the annoying bald monkeys, so she contemplated perhaps sparing this individual. It was kind of cute, after all. The other animal had just been annoying (and stinky).

Thankfully, the Fluffy Roar-Roars would spare him from death-- but not from their desire to figure out what he was. She took another step, experimentally.

"It's harmless, at least..."

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a strange mixture of curiosity and wonder.. though everything in this place was new to her, this thing seemed different. She wasn't immediately disgusted by it as she had been with the humans. Approaching it apprehensively, she lowered her head to show that she meant it no harm if it was as harmless as Sarabi suggested.

The closer she stepped towards the thing, the less she desired to eat it. In a way, it reminded her of the cubs of her pride -- the thought of her family at home made her chest ache with the longing for what she already missed so terribly after so short a time in this strange place. She heaved a sigh, stalking closer to the strange creature ahead of Sarabi (which was very unusual in and of itself), curious but still very cautious.

She mused aloud, "Do you suppose it speaks?"

Her eyes remained fixed on him (for now the gender of the creature was fairly obvious...), and she spoke in a louder voice this time so that it could hear. "What are you, little one?"

[identity profile] queenofthepast.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarabi flowered herself; first she crouched, and then laid down on the ground completely, looking across at the little creature intently as ever, still, with her head slightly tilted to the side, so very fascinated by this... thing, whatever it happened to be, and so thankful he wasn't another annoying bald monkey.

His reply confused her, and so she blinked slightly, quirking a brow. "Yes, you. What are you?" she asked, repeating for the other lioness in a slightly more authorativetone than Sarafina had spoken wiht-- her voice was deeper and she was more forward than she. She wasn't any scarier than Sarafina, really, but perhaps her presence and the way she spoke would have spooked the little thing. Even so, she meant no harm.

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Though only slightly younger than the other lioness, Sarafina's youthful curiosity got the better of her now, after her brief pause she wandered closer still to the thing while Sarabi stayed put. Nostrils flared wildly as she took in the scent of him again, still completely unable to identify what he could be. It smelled like nothing she had ever encountered before.

Well, apparently it could speak, even if it didn't have a lot to say. She was now dangerously close (as he had helped to fill the gap between them), and the manner in which he moved was so awkward that she began to laugh. It was comical, in an endearing sort of way, and she was so very tempted to just approach him and prod at him with her paw. But it was like a cub discovering a porcupine for the first time, and it was a lesson one never forgot. As baffling as something new like this could be, you can never tell if one is pokey, or poisonous, or whatever else.

Perhaps it was just shy? So she lowered her voice and spoke again. "My name is Sarafina. And you are...?"

[identity profile] queenofthepast.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Sarabi watched as the other lioness slunk ahead of her, and watched curiously a moment before slowly inching closer to it while remaining on her belly. She watched the two for a few moments, settling back down properly and crossing on large paw over the other.

Ears pricked, and her eyes widened just slightly-- odd little thing, it was, it went and gave Sarafina a kiss! She couldn't help but smile slowly at the gesture, and took the opportunity to introduce herself as well. "My name is Sarabi," she said, figuring, from the sound of things, the only word that the creature could manage was that peculiar "miii" noise. Perhaps that was it's name? Mimi? Hmmm...

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Her head jerked back in obvious surprise, but the instanteous urge to say 'awwww!' was difficult to suppress. Now this young creature's resemblance to the cubs she had known was unmistakable (though not physically, of course, he looked nothing much like her own kind). Such a gesture of affection as a lick to the cheek was common in the pride. A human kiss would have only been confusing for the lioness, but this was something familiar.

Looking back to Sarabi with a wide grin, her brows arched in silent questioning.. she hadn't a clue what to do about this boy, but regardless, she was enjoying him. Now she was given to assume that perhaps he was simply too young to speak in actual words, though he didn't seem weak and helpless as an infant.. her instincts got the better of her and she head butted him gently as she would a young cub she was fond of -- though gentle for a lion was likely too rough for another species.

[identity profile] queenofthepast.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarabi most definitely spoke play, and very rarely mean-- although sometimes stern. Now was one of her happier moments. When the creature (which she dubbed "Mimi" in her head now) approached her and butted at her paw, she laughed softly and lifted it-- very gently batting Mimi with it, experimentally. She was, despite her stockier and more powerful stature, more gentle than Sarafina-- for he seemed considerably more delicate than even the cubs in their pride.

"He is certainly very cute. Do you think we should take care of him for now? He's obviously a cub of some sort, but his mother seems to be no where in sight..." Yes, it was quite obvious Sarabi's own maternal instincts were beginning to kick in because of this little thing. She couldn't help it! She'd always wanted a cub of her own, anyway...

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-05 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Sarafina trailed along behind 'Mimi' (his general absence of fur was especially obvious from this view... but at least she had a tail, even if it was unlike her own), and she sat back on her haunches to watch him and Sarabi 'play.' Aww. Look how cuuuute. The grin was impossible to conceal, and she didn't bother trying.

"Perhaps he was seperated from his ... er, herd, or his pride.." Whatever the heck something like him came from. Well, he was the first of his kind she had spotted so far in this crazy city, so certainly he was on his own now. The thought of hunger, and if he was a carnivore occurred to her. If he was, then certainly they could feed him and watch after him. It was that hunter's mindset of her's again, along with the intense urge to nurture that came along with being a lioness.

[identity profile] queenofthepast.livejournal.com 2006-07-05 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
The fact Carbuncle was naked didn't really phase Sarabi, considering she was technically also naked. She just happened to have fur. Unconcerned with that fact, she laughed softly and bowed her head down to nuzzle against "Mimi's" cheek a bit, and run her large pink tongue along his face affectionately.

And thus, probably, would begin both the lionesses' habit of obsessively grooming. Ah well, as long as everyone was happy. A large paw lifted as well and she set it over his stomach, gently tickling his skin with her large digits, claws kept safely within their sheaths as she did so.

"I suppose it doesn't matter now... until we find his parents," she replied, lifting her head a moment to look over at Sarafina, "We should probably keep a close eye on him."

[identity profile] path-unwinding.livejournal.com 2006-07-05 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
A nod was offered in agreement, and she rose from where she sat, only to settle down again beside Sarabi, watching their newfound 'cub.' For the time being, the horridness of being in this strange place and not knowing how to escape had been forgotten. The urge to wander further and even to hunt was disregarded. It's not as if the citizens were bothering with them.. in fact, it almost felt like they were the only ones there. Certainly this moment of peace would pass before long, but resting her head on her paws, she felt calm for the first time since arriving here.

"Yes," she murmured softly. "Until we find his parents."

This surely wasn't one of his better days; he had been wandering around all night and into the morning, and he couldn't even remember why. Maybe that was what made things worse. What the hell had he been doing?

He shook his head and sighed, holding a side of it with a gloved hand as he stumbled through the street. He'd been here - what? - a bit more than a day? Great. Just great. He was already tired and the lack of sleep had nothing to do with that, not at all.

He looked ahead and felt reminded of that big Lindblum competition... with all the monsters let free in the streets... He wondered if they had something like that here when he saw the two lionesses. Were they Fangs...? Or some off variety of them?

Zidane carefully approached further. He curiously tried to see what had earned their attention. ... A boy? No - it sort of looked like...no - he didn't know what it was. But to him it looked like they were attacking it.

He really did need to get some sleep.

Instead, he did what sounded logical at the moment and ran over towards the group, waving his arms. "Hey! Stop! Leave the poor thing alone!"

[identity profile] queenofthepast.livejournal.com 2006-07-08 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarabi's ears perked up and she paused when she heard a voice calling. Attacking? Hardly. She narrowed her eyes siddenly and turned her head to look in the direction of the voice. The lioness made note of the odd... monkey... sort of thing (definitely wasn't the same variety she had feasted upon before; it had a tail and a different sort of smell), and gave him an odd look. If anything, it was he who seemed threatening.. perhaps he was a scavenger? Like the hyenas...

She rose to her paws slowly, standing, and turning to face him entirely-- blocking Mimi protectively as her head lowered and she growled at Zidane, not intending to let him get close to her and Sarafina's newfound "cub" anytime soon.
