Eye for an Eye [closed]

Character(s): The Corinthian, Death, Delirium, Yuki
Content: EATING EIRI'S EYES YAY The Corinthian arrives to Paixao. And stuff.
Setting: Jotunheim
Time: Monday night
Warnings: None... YET

If he had stepped onto the streets of New York, no one would have paid him another look. Tall, but not so tall that he was looked at strangely, with a shock of white hair, but a disarming smile, he would have been an average guy. However, this was not New York and it even wasn't the London he had been intending to go to. The Corinthian, because that was what he was, no 'Jim' or 'Bob' or even 'Reshulandyels' for him, looked around thoughtfully. A finger went to his sunglasses, pushing them up higher on his face, before dropping to his side.

"...I seem to have made a misstep." he said outloud before eyeing the seemingly endless like of people who were standing in front of a... Gate? It looked much like one of those large arches Morpheus kept around his lair, impressive but hardly worth the time it took to construct them - though, Morpheus did have the excuse of being able to just -think- them into existence.

The Corinthian tilted his head to the side, and waited. There was a time when he might have been impatient and instead of waiting tore through the crowd. But they were mostly female, it seemed. Besides the fact that his... appetite would not be fixed by females, there was also an odd nagging feeling. For a brief moment the Corinthian entertained the idea that Morpheus had given him a metaphorical cricket to chirp whenever he was making a 'bad' decision. If he had been too petty and amoral then the Dream King had fixed that.

Though, he was still petty, he thought with a large smile.

The line of people moved slowly, shuffling up to a place where a person with a smile would greet, politely, and offer them a... rectangle. The Corinthian waited patiently, as it wasn't like he had other things to do, not right now, anyway. Finally his turn came and a cheerful girl (blonde) offered him one of those things.

"Welcome to Paixao, can I have your name?"

"...what kind of names do you usually get?" Typically, he wasn't against giving out his name, but it wasn't really a name, more like a title. He was The Corinthian, he was called The Corinthian but that was not what he was named. Lord Morpheus hadn't given him a name, but it might be fun to pretend for a while.

"...uhm, well, sometimes we get names like Bob, or Joe or Hikaru or even more unusual names." She offered with a smaller smile than before.

He smiled at her, with all his mouths, even if she couldn't see two of them. "I see, put me down as a Bob, then." He said jovially and then passed through the gate. Her eyes were rather pretty, but not really his type. Too bad, she seemed nice enough.

A city. There was a city past the Gate, a city that even as he searched his limited memory and that of his predecessor he didn't know the name of. The woman had said 'Paixao', and the name didn't ring any bells either. This was not the Dreaming, because he would have felt that. It had to be the Waking World, but...

"...interesting~" The Corinthian grinned. Oh, he was definitely as petty and easily amused as his predecessor.

Death does not like the smile on The Corinthian's face as he takes his leave. She does not like it one bit. Staring at The Corinthian's receeding back, she turns her attention back to Yuki and her little sister as Del looks perplexed about something. Del is not usually surprised about anything, even at things certain to surprise others. When she is confused though, it will usually lead to something bad.

She looks at her younger sister just as Yuki asks, Did you drop something? Furrowing her brow in worry, she caresses the bangs on the girl's face back, "What's wrong, Del?"

[identity profile] 1000fish.livejournal.com 2006-06-21 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
She felt something very wrong indeed. Not only was the furry thing missing, but there was something very off. Something very important and now she'd forgotten what it was. Her brother needed a watch dog, she decided. Maybe she'd make one out of mud... but there was something very sad about mud too.

"...forgot." Delirium says regrettably, "...suGar coNes?" But she did remember those.

Having already given up trying to catch onto Delirium's train of logic, he shrugged idly. Most children would've thrown a temper tantrum if they had realized that they had forgotten the very thing they had wanted to find, but Yuki was silently thankful that Delirium did not look like she was going to do that anytime soon.

Kids who did that generally irritated him to no end. "You were going to get that."

While Del appears as if she is regretting something, Death is rather glad that she has forgotten what it was that troubled her. Ignorance is bliss, after all, ...suGar coNes? Del asks her and she lets out a giggle, ruffling her little sister's hair affectionately, "of course! We should get on our way to look for this elusive sugar cone, hm?"

After taking Del's hand in hers, Death turns toward Eiri and offers him her other hand, "when I do this to other people it usually means another thing, but to you, it simply means 'hold my hand and let's go'" Death explains with a bright smile. "I do not mind walking either, but Del seems to be rather anxious about her sugar cone."

Yuki watched the two sisters interacting with each other for a moment, and he couldn't help but remember his own relationship with his sister Mika before- well, before.

They had been close, and his pet name for her had been Mikarin, and-

It's over. Don't think about it anymore.

Deciding to take his own advice, he shook it off, then stared down at Death's outstretched hand. Wait, had he even said that he would follow them?

Ah, what the hell. It couldn't hurt.

Death's words made no sense whatsoever; as far as he knew, a person holding out her hand could only mean one thing. Giving her an odd look, he stuffed his hands casually in his black pants as started walking. As pleasant and unannoying as Death was, he was not a touchy-feely person, and holding hands with someone in public - even in a backwater city like this - was not something he did.

"Yeah," he remarked with a simple shrug. He had yet to see what a sugar cone looked like; if it even existed, that was. "Let's go."

"go gO go~ we aRe going!" Delirium cheered. If she was going by herself she would have just turned all sparkly and let herself go. But that wasn't very nice for other people who wanted to come. So she held herself together, firmly fixating on the thought of sugar cones and her sister and maybe even the smell of What Was his Name That Guy's smoke.

It was very nice smoke.

The way Eiri turned away from her outstretched hand makes Death chuckle in amusement. Perhaps this is the real reason why so many people find themselves trapped deep within her sister's realm; because they reject those who offered them a hand. Smiling to herself at the thought, she places her free hand on her hips as she watches him stroll off, "Well, I was actually offering to just move ourselves over to where there are sugar cones instead of walking," she explains to his back.

go gO go~ we aRe going! She gives her little sister a nod, "yes dear, we will go as soon as this stubborn young man gets over his immaturity and take my hand," she says to Del although her words are meant for Eiri instead. She stretches out her hand for Eiri to take again, "it would be nice if you would keep Del from waiting."

Said stubborn young man froze in his tracks, gold eyes widening slightly at her strange words. Move themselves instead of walking? What kind of trick was that?

"yes dear, we will go as soon as this stubborn young man gets over his immaturity and take my hand,"

Mildly annoyed at her words, Yuki turned back and had already come up with an appropriately snarky response when he saw her outstretched hand once again. Curiosity - very naturally - had taken precedence over his irritation, and he stared at her for a moment. Taking a simple step towards her, the young novelist met her eyes squarely, thoughts whirring in his head. The things he'd seen before, the odd things they had said earlier...it all didn't make sense.

Or perhaps it all did, but Yuki simply didn't want to believe. "Who are you?"

[identity profile] 1000fish.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Delirium gave Yuki the 'duh~' look. Her nose scrunched, just a little and both eyes met his, barely. Then she shrugged and focused on something else. It wasn't worth pulling all of herself together for just a name or identity. He'd find out sooner or later.

"...aRe you goIng to caLl me a peOple? i liKe that... soMetimes." Delirium announced to him.

[identity profile] callmedidi.livejournal.com 2006-06-23 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
While it is nice to be treated normally without the usual contempt and fear that she so often finds are directed at her, it would be even nicer to meet a handful of people who understands who, what she is but still decides to like her anyway. Her smile turns brighter, her eyes crinkling slightly in delight as Eiri takes a step closer to her. Stepping closer towards Death can have a double meaning in this case and it amuses her that she is suddenly reminded of the many paths in Destiny's garden; all of which ends with her. Everyone is stepping closer to her, not just those very close to meeting her.

Eiri is just a step away from her, Who are you? Death lets herself chuckle in amusement, running her free hand through her unkempt hair before looking up at the taller man with delight clearly showing through her otherwise endless jet eyes, "I am who I said I am," she says with a shrug, "I usually just tell them to call me 'Didi' or something, but you seem like someone who won't run away in fear once you know who I am," then remembering her previous thought, "or faint once you've realized that you just took a step closer to Death." Although her amusement seems to be misplaced, Death laughs a little at her own joke.

Delirium nodded sagely.

"goOd, let'S be frieNds in a frIendsly way!" She announced and squeezed her sister's hand lightly. There was a part of her that might understand (or know) Yuki and Death and how Yuki and Death all fit together. But that part of her didn't really care. At all, especially not now.

(I know I'm making short posts :x sorreh)

Looking down at Delirium, once again mystified at her choice of words, he simply settled for commenting. "Person. Not people." Ah, old linguistic habits died hard.

And it was then when Death spoke, and when he was meeting those ageless jet black eyes, that Yuki Eiri finally believed. He was staring Death in the face. She was not what he had expected at all - wasn't Death supposed to have a sickle and be a walking skeleton? - but her eyes...

He stopped where he was, reeling from Death's response. And it all made sense to him now; everything he had tried to repress. Take her hand, she had said, and those words had often meant another thing to most people...

Kitazawa Yuki. His mind whispered, and he remembered. The man he had murdered; the man who had offered him to his perverted friends for just ten dollars...

Closing his eyes, Yuki gritted his teeth, struggling against the dark memories. No, not now. He could not handle this right now.

Seizing control of his thoughts, he forced himself not to think of his old tutor. But how can one not think about something that had wormed itself so deeply into his soul? His regret, the self-recrimination, the crushing guilt...

He was not afraid of death. He never had been. And very soon, he would go to her and take her hand, and that would be entirely of his own accord. As of now, however... he simply took her hand in his, and his response was deliberately unemotional. "I am not afraid of you."

A murderer like him had no right to be afraid of it.

Of Her.

He glanced over at Delirium once again, finally understanding her seemingly random nature...he would not presume to understand her, but still. ".....friends, hmm?"

That was a strange, strange word.

Her smile did not waver when she sees the thoughts that pass behind Eiri's amber eyes, but her eyes turn jaded somehow and her true age can be seen if one is to look deep into her eyes. She remembers the night when this young man killed someone very dear to him. The pain that passed by Eiri's eyes seems reflected in hers as she keeps her eyes on him. The moment passes as quickly as it happened, and the delight that puts a glint on her eyes is back as Eiri finally takes her offered hand. I am not afraid of you.

She grips his hand in hers and tries to pull him closer, "there is nothing to fear," she confirms his thoughts. Then turning to Del as she squeezes Death's hand lightly, goOd, let'S be frieNds in a frIendsly way! She laughs at her little sister's choice of words, "A friendsly way sounds like a good way to be," she agrees.

Looking around to check on her two companions, she nods in confirmation, "Well then, off we go to Sugar Cone Paradise!" When the two of them closes their eyes for a blink, their ears will be greeted by the pleasant sound of many fluttering wings and find themselves just where Death wants them to be...
