May Chii hug Fai? [completed]

If only one had looked up at the sky that morning, one would have caught a sight of a long-haired girl jumping from rooftop to rooftop clutching a bathrobe around herself. Yet if anyone had, no one seemed to find anything very special about it as Chii was able to travel from the hotel she was staying in with Selphie to where Fai is with not even an incident. Despite her weight, Chii lands on the banister of the balcony delicately and crouches on it to peer into the still dark room.

The light that emanated from her just moments ago fades and the grace that accompanied her every movement also vanishes with the light and Chii jumps off the banister to the balcony like any normal little girl would. She tiptoes to the full-height window and tries to peek through the gap the curtains made between them; finding nothing but darkness within the hotel room. Unsure of what to do, she just places a hand on the glass and frowns, "Chii..." She is very sure that Fai is here because she tracked his journal and it is definitely here. Yet what if Fai had left his journal behind? If that is so, Chii might never be able to meet Fai again and Chii would lose another master.

You must be Chii, meow! Chii's eyes brightened up as a man suddenly opens the window and offers her a hand. Still keeping her eyes on the man curiously, she places her hand in his without so much as a thought. The man helps her through the window before clapping his hands together like a perky schoolgirl, Chii came all this way to see Big Kitty! Why is she in a bathrobe, meow?

Finally realizing that this man is the Fai she was looking for, her lips bloom into a smile, "Fai!" she calls his name once. Not minding Fai's earlier question, she lets out another 'Fai!' before pouncing at the taller man, jumping up to give him a hug. "Chii promise to give hug!"

Chii held on to Fai's neck as he spun her around, rather glad that Fai seems to really like getting hugs since Chii really likes giving hugs! Fai then puts her back down on the floor and pushes back the curtains, Was Chii waiting for a while? Bad Kitty!! He must need an alarm clock, he flops down on a couch opposite the beds and pats the space beside him for Chii to sit on, How did Chii find Fai, meow? Chii remains standing and looks at Fai with quite a different expression on her face.

"Are you going to be Chii's master?" and somehow it is very clear that Chii is not Chii and that this girl is referring to Chii as another person. The girl narrows her eyes suspiciously at Fai, "why did you agree to be her master? Are you going to leave her?"

Did I ever agree? I said I would try, she knows I'm going to leave eventually. This new girl bows down her head sadly at Fai's answer, but even the sad expression on her face is different to that of Chii's, "she doesn't know, she thinks you will be her new master and never leave her."

This isn't Chii, is it? The girl looks up and stares directly at Fai without a smile on her lips or eyes, "No, I am Freya," she closes her eyes slowly, "I am here to protect... Chii, my sister."

Two sisters sharing the same body, hm? Freya nods slowly, stopping herself from correcting Fai as his guess is generally right and an explanation would be too winding. "She took me in when I was dying," the word does not taste right but she waves it off. Protecting Chii, though... how admirable. Freya has half a mind to correct his sister's name but does not. I told her I wouldn't stay in this world for long, so she should know. Don't think I won't leave her in good hands when I go.

She wants to ask him why he cannot bring her sister with him but realizes that she does not know much about moving between worlds and perhaps there is something that prevents him from taking Chii with him. She lets the pause reigns for awhile, May I ask what you are protecting her from? The question caught her off-guard but she supposes that he will inevitable ask sooner or later. "I want her to find someone just for her who will also have her as the someone just for him," she looks up at him with sad eyes. "I do not want her to die like I did."

Freya died because she couldn't find that special someone? She has Fai's sympathies. But she must realize that Fai cannot be Chii's 'someone'. Freya looks at him sadly yet hopefully, Really, he can't be anybody's 'someone.' Luckily, Fai has not died like Freya has. Or has he? The man's seemingly cheerful expression betrays the words that he utter, I will take care of her until I leave. Fai will help Chii find her special someone. Freya lets a subtle yet bitter smile grace her lips and she nods slowly in reply.

"Don't let her fall for you..." she whispers under her breath as her eyes shutter close, leaving Chii to fall over to Fai.

The sound of talking had brought her to the realm between wakefulness and slumber but Cossette was still unwilling to leave the peaceful embrace of sleep and so she ignored the conversation. The morning sunshine warming her face forces her to wake up. With a silent yawn, Cossette stirs on her bed and slowly gets up to a sitting position while stretching both her arms in front of her. She looks around the room with a dazed expression, rubbing her eyes all the while. When her eyes fall on Fai's turned back, she stops and her breath catches in her throat at the surprise of having a man in her room.

The memories of yesterday come rushing back to her, however, and she remembers how she had found herself lost and how Fai had helped her and called themselves Big Kitty and Little Birdie. Smiling to herself, she scoots over on the bed to get off it but her eyes suddenly catches sight of a girl lying unconscious on the couch. Cossette cocks her head to the side in question, "Fai, who is she?" she points at the ivory-haired girl.

Chii wakes up slowly, feeling as if her body weighs tonnes, which might as well be true seeing that she weighs much more than any human girl her size and that Fai's coats are very bulky. Suddenly realizing that a coat has been draped over her, she blinks once before turning to a girl with blonde-hair who is pointing at her. Chii mimicks the girl by cocking her head to one side as well, but then turns to Fai who is now sitting on the edge of the bed with a tired smile on his face.

She knows that being tired is being unhappy and Fai seems to look very tired so he must be very unhappy. The edges of her lips droop and Chii looks at Fai sadly. Fai is her master now, so she needs to always make him happy, but he seems to be very very unhappy at the moment. She shifts slightly on the couch while still looking intently at Fai, whimpering a 'chii...' while doing so.

As sleepy as she currently is, Cossette cannot help but giggle when Fai scoops her up in his arms. Well, Little Birdy, this is Big Kitty's friend, Chii. She's going to be staying with us! She squeals in glee as Cossette never had many friends and she has already been making so many during the short time she has been here. She looks at Chii excitedly as if she is watching her new puppy sniffing its way out of the box. Doesn't she look like a kitty-cat, meow? Chii came all this way to give Big Kitty a hug. Maybe she can give Little Birdy one too, meow!

Chewing her lower lip in expectation, Cossette gets on her feet and walks closer to Chii. She offers the girl her hand for a handshake, "My name is Cossette but you can call me Little Birdy! Very nice to meet you, Chii!"

Her face lights back up when Fai returns to his normal cheerful self, scooping the sleepy little girl into his arms and introducing Chii to her. Putting on a small yet gleeful smile, Chii watches the two of them with much interest. Cossette seems to be someone that Fai cares about so Chii must also make sure that she is happy and not just Fai as Fai would be sad if someone he cares about is sad. Chii came all this way to give Big Kitty a hug. Maybe she can give Little Birdy one too, meow!

Chii would have pounced on Cossette instantly, but luckily she stops herself before launching herself on the petite girl and possibly hurting her. Instead she waits for the little girl to walk closer to her and offer her a handshake, My name is Cossette but you can call me Little Birdy! Very nice to meet you, Chii! Breaking into a wide smile, Chii kneels on the floor and gives Cossette an excited yet gentle hug. "Chii is happy to meet you too!"

Giggling delightedly and placing her arms around Chii, Cossette burrows her face in Chii's soft hair. Cossette likes hugs very much as it always makes her feel warm, so she is even happier when Fai joined in the hug. While she did not voice anything, Cossette agrees with Fai's statement very much; she feels very lucky to have met such nice people like Fai and Chii!

Are Chii and Little Birdy hungry too, meow? At the mention of food, Cossette is suddenly reminded of the conversation (http://dauvergne.livejournal.com/1011.html) she had with Nill the previous day and how she should head to Cafe Ersesat. Withdrawing from Chii's hug and looking down at her feet, she pouts and shuffles her feet, "Fai? Little Birdy needs to go to Cafe Ersesat to meet Nill," she looks at Fai with an apologetic expression on her face, "Little Birdy wants someone to be the sacrifice, but she wants that person to do it because he loves her very much and not just because he is nice."

Unable to find any word able to express what she wants to Fai, she rushes to him and gives him a hug, "Little Birdy likes Fai very much, but Little Birdy needs to go."

Chii is very glad that both Cossette and Fai like hugs because Chii likes giving hugs much more than anyone could ever love hugs! Cossette is warm and Fai is also warm, Chii hopes that she is also warm as being hugged by someone warm is always nice. Hyuuu! Big Kitty is lucky to have such good friends in this world! Chii stays silent, but she does think that she is very lucky to have Fai with her as he is very nice and Cossette seems very nice too.

When Fai and Cossette withdraws from the embrace, Chii still has a smile on her face. But Cossette suddenly hangs her head sadly and the edges of her lips fall, forming a frown. While Chii cannot understand much of what Cossette said, she thinks that the little girl is telling Fai that she wants, no, needs to leave. Chii knows that the girl is talking to Fai so she must not disturb. Sitting quietly on the floor, Chii observes the two of them with a sad look on her face. She does not know if she feels sad or not, but she thinks that she should not smile at a time like this.

Cossette rewards Fai's pat on her head with a smile, glad that Fai does not seem to be sad or angry about her deciding to leave. Fai has Chii now, anyway, so Fai will not be lonely. Maybe someday, after Little Birdy finds her sacrifice, we will meet again? Big Kitty knows what it's like to sacrifice someone you love. Cossette nods with a smile on her face in agreement with Fai's statement. Withdrawing from him, she walks slowly toward the door, seemingly unwilling to leave but knowing that she has to. She deliberately stops for a moment and makes a fuss to straighten her skirt and fix the ribbon on her dress.

"Cossette will come to find Big Kitty once she has found this someone," she says over her shoulder. "This is a promise," she smiles sadly at Fai, showing again the two centuries she has passed, the childish glint on her eyes disappearing to show the clouded eyes of one jaded. With that she quickly walks out the door, closing it behind her with a soft click.

While she cannot understand all the things that Fai and Cossette are saying to each other, she cannot help but feel a pain on her chest. Fai seems sad even though he is smiling, but they are talking to each other so Chii should not disturb them. While Fai watches Cossette leave through the door, Chii watches Fai with a worried look on her face. Fai is still smiling, so why does she think that he is sad?

"Fai..." she reaches out her arm to touch Fai when suddenly Fai turns to him and trills happily, At least Fai still has Chii! Will she eat breakfast with Fai? Breakfast is always more fun with people, meow!! Surprised by the sudden hug Fai drew her in, she blinks once before hugging Fai back tightly. "Fai will always have Chii! Chii will never leave Fai!!" She tries to mimick Fai's trill.

But Chii knows Fai will have to leave someday, right? The question catches Chii off-guard and she can only stare at Fai's eyes with confusion as to how she should reply. What if Fai can't take Chii with him? What will we do then? Bowing her head slightly, Chii places a hand over where her chest hurts but she quickly looks up again at Fai with a determined look on her face.

Fai is much taller than Chii is, but she climbs onto his lap and takes Fai's head in her arms like a mother would do to her son, "It is okay, Fai," a simple smile forms on her lips. "Fai can leave Chii, Chii will still be here if Fai ever needs her again. Fai can leave, Chii will never leave."

But what if Chii gets lonely? Fai doesn't want Chii to be lonely, Chii loosens her embrace and looks at Fai again before biting her lower lip in thought. Maybe, if Fai left Chii with someone who would take care of her, she would still be happy? Would Chii like that? Glad that Fai came up with an idea instead of making Chii decide, which she finds very hard to do, she pounces on Fai happily, "Yes! Chii will like that!!"

Then realizing something, she looks at Fai with a worried expression, "But Chii wants to be with Fai as long as possible," she pleads to Fai with her eyes, "stay with Chii as long as Fai can?" then remembering the 'magic word' as Selphie put it, "please?"

Chii puts her arms around Fai in return as he brought her in for another hug. She has lost count on how many times they have hugged, un-hugged and re-hugged each other, but Chii likes hugs very much so she is glad that Fai likes hugs as well! "Chii will help! Chii can find people very easily if they have these journals, meow!" she tries chirping like Fai as well, thinking that that is the proper way of saying things. After all, it has only been a few days since she learned how to talk and there are a lot of things she does not know. Fai probably knows much better than Chii does!

When Fai stretches out his legs out, Chii scoots back and copies his action exactly, down to the very digits. But for now, this kitty thinks he wants something to eat. Will Chii come with him? Chii nods happily, "Yes, Chii will come with Fai!"

Even though she thinks that all the stretching Fai is doing to get off the bed seems very silly as he has not budged from the bed at all, she still copies him anyway as he probably knows better. When Fai suddenly looks at Chii, she just blinks at him several times. Fai then smiles her kitty grins and Chii tries to copy it even though it turns out to be quite hard so she gives up on it and observes the lanky man rolling over. Not giving it any thought at all, Chii rolls over as well and finds herself face down on the carpet flooring of the room all of a sudden.

The shock leaves her dazed, and she slowly pushes herself up to a sitting position and looks at Fai with question. She cannot see any use in rolling over like that, she wonders what Master Fai intended to do. What kind of food does Chii like, meow? Fai will try to find some! Quickly forgetting the whole rolling over matter, she gives Fai a simple smile, "Chii does not need to eat, Chii only needs that!" And with it she points toward the sun, oblivious to the fact that it is fake and that it cannot restore her battery like a real sun could.

Chii shakes her head enthusiastically in reply to Fai's question. One of the advantages of having a persocon is that their battery last a very long time and there is no need to feed them, "Chii does not eat, meow~" she tries to trill like Fai.

Well, Fai does not want to drag Chii to a restaurant if she doesn't have to eat! I wonder if this hotel has room service? Following Fai, Chii stands up and inclines her head in curiosity, "What is room service, Fai?" Then taking Fai's arm in a loose embrace, she snuggles onto Fai like a cat would do to its master, "but whatever room service is, Chii will like it as long as Fai likes it!"

Chii nods eagerly as Fai said that he would get room service to show her what it is. He really does not have too, but he is very kind to do so and Chii knows that being kind makes people happy and she wants Fai happy so she lets Fai get room service to show Chii out of kindness. Chii is very glad that Fai is with her because he is very kind and he likes to give hugs just as much as Chii loves hugs. She returns Fai's quick hug with another brief one of hers before following Fai walk over to the bedside slowly.

She tries to appear interested at the strange old-fashioned book that Fai is flipping through even though she cannot read any of the writings. It did not occur to her that it might be because it is upside down. Chii stops herself from making Fai explain to her about the book as he seems to be occupied. Like an obedient pet waiting for its master to open its can of food, Chii just watches Fai as he dials the phone and shouts out strange names. Among the strange names, however, Chii is sure she kept on catching the word 'chocolate' and Selphie did say that chocolate is very good.

Fai must be very smart to be ordering so much of very good things!

Recognizing Fai's gesture, she smiles and hops beside Fai, snuggling and purring like a pet cat. "Selphie said waiting is not nice, what should we do so that we don't have to wait, Fai?" She puts a finger on her lips as if in thought and she also scrunches up her face like Selphie die to complete the look. Chii really cannot think of much else to do as she does not know much just yet, but she needs to find something as waiting means being bored and being bored is not a happy feeling!

Then coming up with an idea, her scrunched up face turns bright as she bounces on the bed she was sitting on, "Chii knows what we should do! We should sing, meow~" Chii did not forget to put that little trill that Fai ends his sentences with, of course. She has not thought up of any song that they might be able to sing as she does not know any song, but Fai is very smart and he knows many things so he should know a song.

"Pick a song, meow~" Chii tries to mimick Fai's kitty smile.

As Fai rolls over onto his stomach, Chii follows suit and lands right beside Fai with her head propped up on her elbows. Fai likes rolling around very much even though it makes Chii rather dizzy when she does it too often. At least this time she does not fall so she is not as dizzy as before.

Chii quickly sits up on the bed when Fai suddenly springs out of bed and cries happily, Meow!! Fai knows!! Chii has to stand up for this one, yeah? Then we can do this together! Nodding enthusiastically, Chii jumps out of the bed and stands right beside Fai with her hands outstretched on her sides in anticipation, "Chii is standing up!"
