Warning, healing spells cannot cure embarrassment [Active/Closed]

Character(s): Priere, Laharl
Content: Laharl finds Priere training in the Netherworld. Boss fight ensues.
Setting: Netherworld
Time: Early afternoon
Warnings: Chest size, I mean… DISGAEA

Finally, the act of cleaning her apartment paid off. Well okay, ‘cleaning’ might not have been the right word; it was more like “randomly toss everything in a big pile until you find what you’re looking for”. In any case, Priere had managed to find her brother’s old backpack that he had left behind after he disappeared back home and the magical staves he carried in it.

Magic wasn’t really hard to learn where she came from. It was simply a matter of having enough magical “elements” on yourself and you would be able to cast the related spells. Use it enough and you would learn that magic permanently. It was a simple process really… just… very boring, which was part of the reasons she never really bothered with learning magic beyond some wind and fire she mixed up in her attacks or her own miracle version of Espoir. That and she simply didn’t really need magic to fight.

But now that she found herself with no one to heal her in battle… it was starting to become a problem, especially in light of her last fight with the crazy lioness.

So, she grabbed her brother’s staves and headed to the fields in the Netherworld. Finding a seemingly abandoned corner, she picked up one of the staves, glanced around one more time to check that no one was there, and finally raised the staff over her head.

“… heal!” She said as the spell took form and washed over her.

“Heal!”

“Heal…”

Oh yeah… this was going to take a while.

Laharl had found the roof a very good place to get away to think about things. He'd had a lot to mull over recently, what with the fight with his father recently and all. Today, however, thinking about things was quickly distracted away by noticing that there was actually a figure out in the fields that we nearby the castle.

Curious by who the hell would be out there, Laharl made the trek to the fields to see just who was there.

Of course, he was greeted with a rather interesting sight. Coming up quietly behind Priere, Laharl only watched for a moment before he cheared his throat and spoke up.

"What the hell are you doing out here?"

Of course, Laharl realized she was about to try to hit him which left him two options: dodge the blow or just not to care. While it would have been easy to dodge, he decided to just not care, allowing the staff to meet his head, barely even flinching at the blow.

"...Oi."

He gazed up at her looking largely annoyed and exasperated. Pain? Nope.

Arching a brow a little, Laharl didn't look terribly impressed. Not that her heal spell really did anything. Her blow hadn't put even a dent in his HP.

"Don't you know that spell already?" he asked her. The Priere he had experience with knew Omega Heal even, so it was a bit odd to him she'd be out here casting simply heal.

That wasn't much of an answer, but Laharl didn't really care enough to press the issue any further. It didn't really matter.

"Tch, no." Spying? He had plenty better things to do than spy on any one, much less her of all people. Sure, he had been curious about her awhile. A human version of one of his vassals couldn't not perk his interest, after all, but definitely not enough to make any effort to spy on her. And if he had, that's what Etna was for.

"This is my Netherworld, and that's my castle," he said, nodding a little over his shoulder, towards the castle in the distance, eerily lit from the glowing lava that flowed like a moat around it. "Well, a copy of it, anyways," Laharl added, still a little creeped out by the whole thing. He'd never expected to find one of the floors containing anything he knew.

Laharl just looked vastly unamused. He'd heard that line more than a few times as well. "Age doesn't have anything to do with the fact if someone can be an Overlord or not, it's about how strong they are," he explained. "I'm the strongest in the Netherworld, so I'm the Overlord. I earned this title."

No one had really phrased it like that before. It took him a moment to ponder how to respond, shrugging a little. "I could blow this whole castle up, if, you know, it wasn't a stupid idea," he finally offered, unsure if fighting the Seraph or taking down a huge fleet of ships would mean anything to her.

Considering she didn't even remember the Netherworld or anything, it seemed doubtful.

"Tch, if that's your idea of a compliment, save it," Laharl replied, definitely not taking it as such. She'd still basically called him dumb, after all.

It was pretty obvious though she didn't really believe him, but, whatever. Laharl didn't particularly care what she did or didn't believe, as long as she didn't think he was weak.

"Hmph," was his only response to her in regards to that. It was annoying, but whatever. If she continued to be stuck here, she'd likely see eventually he wasn't lying. He had an Organization and their leader to give a piece of his mind to still, after all.

The young Overlord shrugged in reply. "Nothing," he said, being surprisingly truthfully, although there wasn't really any good reason to lie anyways. "I noticed you standing over here casting magic and checked it out. This is my Netherworld, after all."

Okay, so it was a REPLICA of his Netherworld, but whatever. That wasn't really the point. She was standing out here casting magic. It was pretty random.

"Training," he deadpanned back at her, raising an eyebrow. "By casting cure over and over?"

What the hell kind of training was that? If she was anything like the Priere he knew, she definitely wasn't a mage, although couldn't she cast Omega Heal? Well, whatever. This still seemed pretty pathetic to him.

"That sounds like a waste of time, to me."
overlords_wrath: (Is that what you think?)

Laharl wasn't intimidated by Priere in the slightest. In fact, it was a smirk that came to his lips as she glared at him like that. He hadn't really had a fight in quite some time and he was kind of curious of just how strong she was like this--as a human.

This could be interesting.

"That sounded like a challenge... Do you have a death wish or something?" he asked, purposefully now provoking her.

He had two options at this point: dodge the strike, which would be painfully easy to do, or to just take the strike, if just to prove a point. And, well, it would give him a pretty good idea then what he was dealing with.

On the other hand, then he'd be letting her hit him.

But, then again, the look on her face when he got up... it could be worth it. Well, there was no time to really debate it now, he'd run outta time to dodge at this point. Oops. Taking the blow, he sailed up and backwards from the uppercut, landing heavily a good ways away.
overlords_wrath: (Is that what you think?)

"...Was that it?"

He wasn't about to admit that it had been a pretty good hit, for a human. She had stunned him... for like, a second. She was a far cry weaker than the Priere he knew, that was for sure, but, on the other hand, he had zero doubts now she was one in the same.

Laharl hopped back up to his feet, not showing signs of being in any pain. He didn't look like he'd even taken a scratch, even.

Straightening his scarf a little, Laharl turned his attention to Priere, a terribly wicked grin on his face. Yeah, the look on her face had just about been worth it. Just.

"My turn," he announced, suddenly dashing forward, his fist glowing with power, as he aimed for the ground at Priere's feet.
