Dias stared at Maya throughout her outburst, somewhat wide-eyed. It wasn't that it had never occurred to him that Maya, that indeed anyone might have their own grief; he'd been more than aware of that. It was just that he'd never really expected it from someone like her, someone who had seemed so - upbeat. And he certainly hadn't expected a rant like that - it was like being savaged by a kitten.

Of course, even kittens could leave scars. And the news that Cecille had looked sad - might be sad because of him - hit him like a sledgehammer. He sat on the bed in stunned silence for several long moments before he found his voice again. "...She looked sad...?"

It wasn't that he hadn't been paying attention to the rest of what Maya had said. It was just that he couldn't focus on anything else, not after what he'd just heard.
