The night passed uneventfully enough. It was just another in a long string of nights just like it. The only difference was that this one was spent in an alternate dimension, rather than in his own world. It was now Friday. A new day. It could mean being another step closer to finding his way out of this demon pit, and slaying those responsible for bringing him here. On the other hand, it could be like the day before, where nothing happened besides walking and getting aggravated. Sure, he’d found Lady after hell knew how many years, but she was independent and would likely spend most of her time alone. She wouldn’t be his Lady-shadow; she just wasn’t like that.

Uneventful. It meant different things to different people. What Dante called uneventful, others would call harrowing, crippling, painful, or any number of unpleasant adjectives. Another night of blood-soaked nightmares. It spoke a lot that he was able to simply ignore them. Perhaps ignore wasn’t the right word. They still bothered him, yes, but he locked the images away and never dealt with them. A lot of people could sit and angst about their nightmares. Dante wasn’t one of them. Not when said nightmares became part of a usual nightly routine.

There were plans to put into action. No time for thinking about the lost brother or the slain mother. There was a craving for booze to satisfy. Hard liquor would calm his nerves like it always did. He’d wanted some ever since stepping into this place. Who hadn’t? Paixao felt like a dream, but it was all too real. Liquor, right. He had agreed to meet with Jenet, the seemingly lovely lady from the network, this afternoon. They had a bar to track down. She was staying at the Vanaheim Actua Are, which was a very long walk from where he was now. He knew that from experience. From checking the map extensively the night before, he found there was a train that ran to that corner of the city. How convenient. He’d hop the train and get there much faster than he could walking.

Getting ready for the day, Dante realized there were some things he missed about his home, such as the conveniences of modern living. There wasn’t even a telephone in his room. And it was doubtful that this Paixao place would have anything like a laundromat either. He’d have to wash his clothes the old-fashioned way. Also, going about in one set of clothes constantly was a good way to wear them out. He’d have to sink to clothes shopping in an alternate dimension. How terribly exciting. He would also have to stake out the prospect of setting up shop in this place. He’d give it a week, and if he weren’t out of Paixao by then, he’d give in and buy up a place. Surely someone out there had a need for demon eradication. Demons had a pesky habit of infesting every realm out there.

Once he was all set, he locked his room and set off. He didn’t see any sign of Lady, so she’d heeded the warning he’d left on his electronic journal thing. Smart move. Using his map, he made his way to Paixao’s central station. He paid for a train ticket, climbed onto the oldest-looking train he’d ever seen in his life (not to mention the loudest!), and found a seat by a window. Soon the train pulled out, chugging down the track.

Tonight he would drink with a hot chick at his side.
