Character(s): Ventus and Yorda
Content: Ventus finds someone alone in the fields, and decides that they need some company.
Setting: The fields outside of the city.
Time: Around noon.
Warnings: Obligatory diabeties warning. Seriously, though, probably nothing.
Maybe it was a little bit ironic that Ven had come out here to be alone. It wasn't that he enjoyed being by himself - far from it - but he needed to get away for a little while. There was a lot of thinking that he had to do, and it was about time that he stopped putting it off.
At least, that's what he was trying to tell himself, while figuring out a good place to stop and eat his lunch. It just wasn't working all that well.
And maybe that's why he didn't mind it when he spotted someone, and realized that he wasn't so alone out here after all.

/lives at last, sob
Nowhere to go but onward, that was.. But if they did manage to leave the castle, wouldn't she be sent back to the island to die? The thought of it made her shudder.

"Are you out here by yourself?" He sounded mostly curious, but also a bit concerned. Was something wrong? Or did this person just have a lot on her mind, too?

She hugged her knees to her chest, simply staring at Ventus, still unaware that staring was rather rude. Mao and Urd, at least, had never complained about it. Besides, Yorda had grown to like watching people during her time in the city, and even now, that had yet to change.

"I'm Ventus. You can just call me Ven, though." It occured to him that he had never seen this girl around before ever, either. Still, the fact that he didn't know her made him no less inclined to hang around, so long as she didn't mind.
"Do you want some company?" he asked. "I'm out here by myself, too."

She didn't think she had seen the other before, for all her wanderings - but then, she tended to stay close to people she knew now, ever since her kidnapping. It would not stop Ansem from coming for her again, but she felt safer nonetheless.

As he's shuffling through the brown bag, he starts talking automatically, eager to make conversation.
"So, what did you come all the way out here for, anyway? It's pretty empty right now." He just sounds curious...or maybe he's wondering if she's out here for the same, or at least for a similar reason.

"I guess we're on the same page, then." he finally said, his expression mostly going back to normal. "I had some thinking that I needed to do, too."
"Are you hungry?" he asked, offering her one of the sandwich halves.
no subject
"I have been thinking of what I will do when we are gone from this place." She tried not to show how much the thought worried her; there was no need to bring worry to others, after all.

If there were people from after his own time here, then that future had already been decided. For better or for worse.
He didn't want to think that it would be the latter.
He looked at Yorda, and though she tried to hide her worry, Ven could tell that she wasn't very excited by the idea of going home.
"Do you want to go back to your world?" he asked, honestly wondering.

But her island was gone, and she had nowhere else to go.

"You're right about that." he said, thinking on the possibility of staying in this world. "Even if it wasn't for the Organization, there's just something really weird about this place." Weird...off, maybe? Either way, it didn't seem like a good place to stay.
"But why don't you want to go home?" Of course Ventus understood wanting to see worlds outside of home, but...not wanting to go back at all? Especially after being trapped in a strange place like this?

"If I return to my world," said Yorda, her voice trembling, "I will die."
no subject
If that's true, then he really can't blame her for not wanting to go back.

But...no. This is what he's supposed to do. It's his job, as a Keyblade wielder, to help people. So that's what he's going to do.
"My friends and I can travel the worlds and help people. Maybe we can find your world and save you, if you're forced to go back."
That is...if he can make sure that he and his friends stay safe, too.

The princess could hardly stop the tremble in her voice as she timidly asked him, "Could you?"
no subject
"I don't know how I'll get there, but I'll do my best. I promise."
And even if he couldn't, he hoped from the bottom of his heart that someone, somewhere, would be able to.

Either way, Yorda wasn't gone, not yet.
