Suddenly, a mahou shounen [Active/Open]

Character(s): Chrono, open
Content: Arrival
Setting: Vanaheim gate and points nearby
Time: Unknown, sometime after the domes fall
Warnings: None yet

"This isn't Mid-Child," Chrono said with a thoughtful frown as he surveyed the wreckage his teleport spell had landed him in. "S2U, please confirm my present location." His device took several long seconds to respond - something that had never happened before. The monitor window it pulled up read, 'Location unknown. Unable to establish link to TSAB network.'

Something was definitely not right, here. Even if he'd been knocked offcourse by a dimensional quake, if he had landed on a planet or ship he should still have been able to access the TSAB network. Unless he'd fallen into a rift, in which case...

His device pinged him with two more lines of text. 'Local area network detected. Attempting to decrypt...... unsuccessful.' And that was it. For the first time in years, Chrono wished he had an intelligent device; it wouldn't have been much more useful, but it would at least have been better company than the outright hostile glares he was getting from the locals. He'd already shifted his barrier jacket to active mode, just in case someone got the idea to throw rocks or something worse. From the look of things, 'something worse' could be a lot of things.

It took him several attempts to find someone who would even respond to him with anything other than the evil eye, and what they told him wasn't encouraging. Someone had destroyed this city, and recently. A lot of people were unaccounted for. It had been someone from outside, like himself - well, he could certainly understand the glares now. When he asked if there was any way he could help, he got a cold shoulder, but the blonde-haired, blue-eyed (a disturbingly large percentage of the refugees bore those traits) local pointed him toward what seemed to be an aid station.
