Serah might have been from her future, but Lightning still knew her sister. The answer hung in the air between them, just as clear as if they'd said it themselves. Lightning's lips pursed together, but she didn't push it. Having just made it through being a Cie'th herself and seeing Hope deal with it twice, she could understand why they would lie about it. Who would want to burden someone with a truth like that? It was just the same as not telling Fang and Vanille about their future, keeping Vanille protected about everything Lightning knew. Maybe, in time, Lightning would ask Serah for clarification, probably once they got home and Lightning herself caught up to her sister's time, but as long as Serah was safe here, it wouldn't matter.
