Alice listened to the Hatter, her gaze sharp and almost sad, though she stubbornly refused to admit, inside or out, how his questioning pained her. The Hatter near her, who had been helpful in his own mad way, had been long gone by Alice's last visit to Wonderland. The young woman turned, busying herself with picking up the blue dress and white apron up, along with some striped stockings. Despite listening to the Mad Hatter's wonderings, she remained silent for several long moments.

At last, she answered. "Time continues while I'm in Wonderland," she replied, her back turned to Hatter. During her time at Rutledge's Asylum, Alice had found her way into Wonderland while she was enduring one horrific treatment, only to wake up in the middle of another. Thankfully, while she had been in her own world, Alice hadn't felt much in the way of the pain her doctors and nurses had thoughtlessly inflicted upon her and the other patients.
