The way Auron had said I lost my eye trying to guard Braska made it clear to Asuka that he had tried and failed. Trying to not poke at that subject anymore, she listens closely to him trying to cheer her up. The first reason he gave to her is not very comforting as it has been more than a day that she left it untreated, but the second, about young people being innately resilient and all comforted her a bit. "I'm not gonna blame you if I go blind," Asuka mumbles, not even sure why she said it.

I need you to count those rolls of bandage for me, Prince. I want to wrap this as neatly as possible. Afterwards we'll have a look at your head and then call it a night. Auron says to The Prince, turning Asuka's attention to the unbelievably hyperactive little boy. The boy starts counting the rolls in a very loud voice, attracting the attention of other people in the lobby.

Asuka leans back on the couch, closing her eyes, just listening to The Prince shouting out numbers and Auron's repetitive rubbing over her skin. She feels warm inside, and rather sleepy. Could this be how it is like to feel safe? She chuckles, but not bitterly this time, "tell me, what would you honestly want in return for doing this for me?"
