An Earthbender and a Viera Walk into a Bar...[Open/Active]

Character(s): Toph, Fran, and anyone who might bump into them?
Content: Toph trying to pick more fights with other people stuck in Paixao. Looks like it's Fran's turn.
Setting: Cafe Ersesat
Time: Lunch times! OMNOMNOMNOM
Warnings: Just Toph being her spunky, rude self. I don't know about Fran though...

Toph was no stranger to Cafe Erestat. She had collected plenty of jewels from the fake plants to eat there quite often, to the dismay of the local people that worked there.

It was lunch time, and Toph marched in to the restaurant and took her usual seat in the middle of the dining room, placing her feel up on the table. The waiter came and reluctantly took her order as she cracked her toes and fingers. All she had to do now was wait for her meal.

Contrary to people might be inclined to think, Fran didn't spend all her waking hours in Balthier's company. A fair number of them, yes, but she was quite capable of going elsewhere. And indeed, more than a few of their adventures had required that she do so.

This was none of those. She'd simply decided to be somewhere else for a time. Perhaps she'd even turn up a interesting snippet or two. There'd been rather a lack of honest pirating of late. For now, however, she simply strode into the cafe, ignoring the usual host of stares at her ears. She was used to them, by this point.

Stares, Fran was used to. Few people had heard of her kind in Ivalice, much less actually seen one in the flesh. Outright pointing, on the other hand, was much less tolerated. Especially when the question to follow it was quite so blunt.

"I am as I should be," she answered, shifting to rest one hand on her hip.

If Toph had been intending to make the worst possible first impression, she was getting there with surprising speed. Not even Vaan had been quite so uncouth and that was saying something, given the fact that he was hardly what she would have considered tactful.

But neither was Fran going to rise to the bait so clearly. Humes were not to be blamed for their ignorance where vieran customs were concerned.

"Have you no viera where you come from?"

"It is."

She wasn't surprised by the answer. The earlier mention of 'pig-rabbits' had implied some world she wasn't familiar with, and she already knew that most of the people here fell firmly into the category of people who hadn't heard of viera. But neither did that mean that frankly idiotic question would be tolerated.

"They would be welcome to try," she answered, in a tone that suggested that anyone who tried would find things going less than well for them.

Of course she did. Neither she nor Balthier would have gotten very far as sky pirates had they not been able to handle what very treasure hoards threw at them. Or the natural side-effects of running counter to the law proper.

What, precisely an 'earthbender' was she less certain on but that wasn't enough to stop her. If the rude hume wished a fight, so be it.

"Best to not stay in here, then."

Fran, for her part, was somewhat less then interested in the overall outcome of the fight. She wasn't about to do anything less then her best, but she'd never been one to worry over much about the outcome of such things. She hadn't deliberately gotten into a purely hand-to-hand fight (or magic to magic, if that turned out to be the case) in years, but no matter. She douted it would make that much of a difference.

"Fran," she answered as she followed after Toph, doing her best to put any further displays of uncouth habits out of her mind as she did so.

Again there was silence from Fran. She wasn't overly worried about injuries sustained, given her various restorative magics but boundaries were a good thing to set all the same.

"Best to have a set place at which to stop."

That sounded like a potential recipe for disaster. Not enough so to really request that the rules be changed, but enough so to send potential alarms running through her head. It did, however at least speak to the general temperament of this strange young Hume.

"A wall would be best, yes," she answered with a nod.

"That should do well."

She didn't recognize the spell that created the wall, but perhaps this was the earthbending had been mentioned earlier. How well it did in combat or something near it would remain to be seen.

"I am ready."

The same could be said of Fran. But in lieu of any other option she was more then willing to start. But she wasn't about to come running in. She'd leave that to people with fewer options.

So after a brief gesture and a word murmured under her breath, the familiar glow of a fire spell was heading Toph's way.
