Double, Double, Toil and Trouble [Active]
Character(s): Shantotto and A GUEST.
Content: Trouble. :Db
Setting: On top of the domes.
Time: Late evening/night
Warnings: ^Nuff said.
Shantotto was well aware she was taking a rather heavy risk; a well calculated one, of course, but still, a risk. That didn't particularly bother the Tarutaru, however. Easy and safe was hardly any fun, after all.
Thoughtfully, perched on a stool, she surveyed her work: an oversized pot had a bubbling, steaming mixture in it that glowed an eerie purple.
While there were certainly a long list of things that could happen, there were two things Shantotto hoped to accomplish and, with any luck, she would achieve both. However, she would settle for either, at this point. There was still a chance, of course, neither could work out as anything could throw off the spell she was about to attempt; that was part of the risk. This world lacked many of the ingredients she normally relied upon in Vana'diel. It had taken a great deal of time to track down suitable replacements and even then, there was certainly a lack of guarantees. It would have been a different matter, of course, had she been in Windhurst, but here? Here was different.
It was exhilarating.
This new spell had been on her mind for some time now, long before she'd arrived in Paixao. Having mastered warp spells, the Tarutaru had set her mind on going far beyond any spell had done before. The next step, as it were. No one from Vana'diel had ever attempted such magic. She would be the first! She already was looking forward to seeing the look on the minister's faces when she would announce her creation. But, well, she was getting ahead of herself.
The stars, real ones, glowed above in the cool evening air. She was not under the domes, you see, but rather on top of them. It hadn't been difficult for the mage, of course, however perhaps some would think it an odd place to weave a spell, but not for Shantotto. This was absolutely the most perfect spot -- that she was certain of.
"Well, I do believe I'm as ready as ever. It's time to begin my greatest endeavour!" she said to herself, as she lifted her hands, a similar glow forming around them. Waving her hands above the pot, it's glow intensifying as she began to cast magic into it.

He needed to put an end to this, now. There were more important things that he needed to be focused on, and he very much doubted she had any answers in regards to the Unversed.
The dark portal grew up from somewhere at a distance behind her, darkening the dome's surface and stretching upwards. Xemnas stepped from the corridor, hood raised, eyes sharp, and then closed it behind him. He stayed where he was, only watching, trying to discern just what she thought she was doing. Or trying to do.
Other than attract attention, that is.

The black mage let her guest watch for several moments, continuing to act like she was completely unaware of him, until finally she spoke up, without even turning.
"You really should speak up, if you have something important to say. This is your last chance, as I'm about to take a trip that's to be only one-way."

"And where do you believe you'll be going?"
no subject
"I suppose there's no reason to conceal that my destination is my home, dear Vana'diel," Shantotto replied, hands resting lightly on her hips. She showed not one hint of doubt that it was her destination. It's what she certainly had redesigned the spell to send her, but, well, if it failed to send her to the right place, she'd just have to try again, wouldn't she?

His laughter dies down and he glares at her from beneath his hood.
"You'd do well to end this foolishness."
no subject
At least he had cut to the chase.
"End? Why, my dear mysterious stranger, the show has only begun. The spell has been started, and not easily undone."
She turned back to her work, at this point, completely ignoring Xemnas' threat. "There's only one fool on top of this dome and is most certainly not the one who's about to be on her way home."
no subject
Even Xemnas could see the advantage in something so very simple.

"Now, now, that isn't nice!" she said, lights forming around her as she promptly began casting. "I do believe I'll put you all on ice."
The high level blizzaga spell went off quickly, ice magic exploding on each Dusk.

In reality, he isn't surprised by how easily she takes care of the Dusks. He doesn't shift in the slightest right away, merely continues to watch her with a bored expression, and then, he slowly starts to step towards her.

Believing Xemnas to be of little further worry, Shantotto once again began to weave her spell over the huge pot, magic beginning to form above it. "Hark portal, I demand of thee!" she began, feeling ever so pleased. Just as she'd calculated. Forget plan B, she was going home.

When he reappears, it's across from her. In the same instant the magics of her spell begin to mingle, Xemnas has a blade of nothingness slashing through the pot separating them.
no subject
Her gaze snapped up, at him, faintly surprised. Impossible! How ever had he broken from her spell that quickly? Her work was not that of a half-rate mage!
It seemed she'd underestimated him, a little, however that was hardly what she was worried about at this moment.
"Stop!" she cried, as he slashed through the pot, the liquid spilling out. The magic she had formed now pulsed and crackled with instability. The spell was out of control.
Leaping back several feet, magic quickly formed around Shantotto's feet as the magic above the pot began to pulse and grow, looking like it was about to explode. It was time to make a very hasty escape.
no subject
She brought this upon herself, after all.

Shantotto had escaped, leaving Xemnas alone on the dome.
