Joutenheim [Open]

Character(s): Kadaj et al
Content: Arrival at the gates
Setting: Joutenheim
Time: Morning
Warnings: N/A

It was hard to feign complete disinterest in the gate itself, and Kadaj’s eyes kept wandering back up to examine it in closer detail when he thought no one was looking. The two giants, doomed to be locked in eternal battle… hmm. He smirked slightly and turned his attention back to the queue, his expression almost immediately becoming a small frown. He didn’t really have to wait through that, did he? He briefly considered just killing everyone in line so that he could get through the gates more quickly, the thought bringing a smile back to his face. It was so very tempting… but no, then they’d probably deny him entrance to this place, whatever it was, and he didn’t fancy being stuck out here among the slain bodies. It would smell.

Besides which… well. If he didn’t go inside, he’d probably never find Yazoo and Loz—where were they, anyway? They weren’t supposed to disappear on him like this, not when they still had so much left to do. If he didn’t know where his brothers were and they didn’t know where he was, that would be the same as being alone. He didn’t want to be alone. Not now. Not with these revolting people and their standing waiting in line to this mysterious place—that was another question: where were they? Surely the person at the booth would know that, but no, he had to wait in line, like he was just another person, forced into this ridiculous place and ridiculous form of maintaining order. He hated this order. It wasn’t what Mother wanted. If Mother didn’t want it, it had to go.

Mother… could she be here too? She had to be, right? If he was here, she would be. He couldn’t even consider the alternative, not when he was already worried about Yazoo and Loz. Well, not worried—they could take care of themselves. But Mother needed him, and he had to find her and make everything better for her again and coming to this miserable place wouldn’t stop that. She had to be here, the same with Yazoo and Loz. He just had to find them first.

Which… brought him back to the line.

He frowned slightly at it, considering. It would probably be for the best if he just went along with it at the moment, played their little games. He didn’t want to make a bad impression after all, now did he? He smirked again and finally went over to join the rest of the people waiting, his head held high. He would try not to let the presence of the others get to him, at least until he was finally inside. He glanced up again to see the giants which decorated the gate, smirking again. At least he had something to look at, right?

As the line in front of him dwindled, he felt his smile growing. Not long now…. Soon enough the rest of the people that had blocked his way were gone, inside the gates, and Kadaj made his way through them as well, proudly stating his name when asked and picking up the electronic journal that was offered. Curious thing, really.

Without a backwards glance, he made his way into the city. He would find his family, and soon.
