She knew she was in trouble when she heard that phrase and saw his face. So much trouble. It got worse when she saw the pool of darkness appear and the vines start wrapping around her legs and reaching up to her arms. She felt his grip release, only to be replaced with the vines.

Yep. She was screwed.
