Character(s): Naminé, Xion, Sora (with random appearances by Roxas which they will never see. Sadface)
Content: Lost: one Roxas.
Setting: Sora's place and then the streets of Paixao?
Time: Mid-day Week 24 / all day idk
Warnings: None? Aside from being really slow to find him

Naminé was starting to get worried. Roxas hadn't come home for a really long time. The last time she'd disappeared for even just a little while, Xemnas had come to talk to her about bad news. He'd said she needed to get close to the keybearers, and who knew what he might want to do to Roxas, especially since Roxas was missing memories. So, it was time to go find him.

Naminé really wanted Xion's help, but she didn't dare use the journals to ask. So, she just hoped she'd run into Xion soon and instead made her way to Sora's place. With any luck at all he would be there when she knocked on the door.

"Sora?"

"Then I...don't have a heart?" But...how could that be true? Roxas could feel! He couldn't be like that! If he was, how could he have cried? What made him feel so scared when Axel showed up, and so angry when he met that woman who had his memories? If he couldn't feel anything, then...

Timon.

"That's...that's what he was talking about..." Roxas looked back down. "It makes sense now..."

He wasn't even a whole person. Not only that, but...he didn't have a heart, either. They'd been keeping that from him...all this time. Namine had seen him every day for all those weeks...and never said anything. Not even a little...

What was he supposed to say now? He couldn't even tell what he was feeling now, and he wasn't supposed to be feeling anything! It didn't even make any sense!

"NO!" he shouted. He stood, and stared right into Xion's eyes, his own full of that determination that made him look some much like his Other...a person that he'd never even really known, and didn't even realize was standing right next to him. Then he looked at Namine. "If what Xion said is true, then why did I wake up crying when I had that nightmare? Why do I have so much fun when we go out for ice cream?"

"...Why does it hurt so much to hear you guys say that about me...?"

"I wish I knew, Roxas, I really do." Sora replied.

Nobodies weren't supposed to feel, but Sora couldn't deny that Roxas did seem to have feelings. A lotta Nobodies seemed to have feelings. Sora didn't really think that Nobodies didn't have feelings, the way Roxas, Namine, Xion and Axel acted kind of proved that point for him, yet the other more... ruthless members seemed prove the point the other way. Nobodies were complicated, to say the least.

But real feelings or not, Sora couldn't imagine how anyone would react after hearing they didn't have a heart, and consequently, he had no idea what more to say to Roxas.

Xion winced at Roxas's outburst-- mostly because she knew how hard it was to learn something like that. Her own fake heart, or whatever was there hurt in her chest, and she tried to think of someway to explain this.

"I don't... sometimes, I'm not sure that's right," Xion said, quietly, "But that's what everybody's told, and... I don't know, Roxas, I really don't. I tried finding out some things, but..." She shook her head sadly. "I'm sorry. We should have told you. I just thought... you seemed happier when you didn't know, and none of us wanted to hurt you."

Though it seemed that that was exactly what they'd managed.

"Special...special...how? This whole time, you guys have been keeping these things from me, and you just expect me to..." Roxas trailed off. He didn't know what he was saying. He was just...angry. Angry that they wouldn't tell him these things before, and angry that nobody could answer that question.

"I just want to know who I am." That was...that was it. "But it doesn't even sound like you guys really know that either." He stepped back, and his shoulders fell. The Keyblade was held out to the side, pointing at the ledge, and he looked at the tip.

"Sorry, I..." He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what think, or what to feel. He didn't know what to do.

"You're... You're my Nobody, Roxas" Sora said, standing up and finally looking Roxas in the eyes. Was that what Roxas wanted to hear? Maybe, maybe not. But it was something Roxas had to know. And it was the closest answer to Roxas's question Sora could come up with.

"That's probably why you can use the Keyblade. Because I can."

Xion wasn't really sure what to say. If she could have done anything to make Roxas feel better, she would. The problem was, it didn't seem there was anything. Even if she told Roxas everything she knew about him... it wouldn't explain a lot of his questions.

Then, Sora spoke, and Xion looked back at him with a slightly surprised expression. She'd known, obviously... but she hadn't really expected Sora to say it.

Roxas seriously didn't get it. He'd thought this whole time that he was just a normal kid. Sure, he'd lost his memories, and apparently he worked for a group of people that no one really liked, but until Axel had shown up, he hadn't thought he was anyone special.

But now Sora, a guy he'd only met once...or...he thought he'd only met once, anyway...and Xion, and Naminé...they were telling him he wasn't even a whole person. And that the rest of him...was Sora.

"So...what do I do now?"

"I don't know, Roxas, what do you wanna do?"

Sure Roxas might have been his Nobody, but Roxas was still his own person. And it was something Roxas needed to sort through himself. He could get all the support in the world from his friends, but while that would usually make dealing with problems much easier, they couldn't just make those sorts of problems disappear.

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2011-01-23 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Xion looked up at Roxas, hoping that he wouldn't be too mad for her not telling him anything before- though, she probably deserved if it he was. "Just because you're a Nobody... it doesn't mean you're not yourself. You're still Roxas, no matter what."

"Not...myself? Of course I'm still me!" Roxas still didn't know if he was angry, or sad. He couldn't tell, and being told he wasn't supposed to feel those things at all was making it harder. He looked down at his Keyblade, then let it disappear as he released it from his grip. He looked at Sora, then Naminé, then finally Xion. As his eyes met hers, something tugged hard at his chest, and he felt himself wanting to cry.

"I'll...go back," he said after a long silence. He wasn't sure what he was going to do there, but right now...he wasn't sure about anything at all.

He could only hope that strange woman who had approached him about his memories would tell him what she wanted soon, so he could get them back. There was more that these guys didn't know. There was more that he had to know.

Sora nodded at Roxas, let Oblivion disappear and started heading towards the door of the clock tower, but he hesitated and looked back at Roxas.

"Um, i-if you ever need to talk about anything..." He trailed off slightly, not sure if the Roxas would even accept his offer. "I'm always here, Roxas.."

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Xion withdrew visibly, not sure what to say. Everything she could think of was coming out wrong, and she... she didn't know how to help him. Her best friend, and she couldn't help him. What did that make her?

Even if Roxas said he would go back, she didn't feel better. She didn't necessarily want that. She just wanted for everything to be ok.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Roxas sighed. There wasn't anything else to say. He couldn't even trust that he was really him, much less anything anyone said about him. The Organization...what had they wanted with someone like that?

He put on a smile, though he wasn't sure how real it looked. He wasn't sure how real it felt. "Come on, Naminé. I bet everyone's waiting for us."
