The violet flame-spell-thing did hit it's mark. Remus had already been up in the air at the time it was thrown, so there was no way he could change direction to dodge the attack. Fortunately for the werewolf, the flame didn't hit him in any vital areas, but more or less glanced off his shoulder.

Still, his fur ignited for a bit, and the skin underneath was badly burned, and even though Remus was flying towards his opponent, he was no longer snapping and scratching at him. Instead, he curled up from the pain and landed on the ground in front of Zetta in a heap.
