The fact that wolf still had thumbs was certainly an advantage in his favor, and Remus definitely did not expect to be countered in such a way. He yelped in surprise, and growled as he felt Wolf's claws slash at his chest. His thick coat protected him fairly well, but it was still a considerable wound to receive, and blood quickly started to ooze from the wound.

Remus struggled to get out of Wolf's grasp, flailing his limbs and snapping at the air, trying to turn his neck to take a chunk out of Wolf's arm or face.
