Vyers swallowed down his own rising anger and stood shaking for a moment wondering how he should answer. Should he tell Laharl the truth? Vyers planned on sounding as ignorant of the fact that he knew the journal belonged to an Organization member as he could. But if that failed, and they sought information from those he was close to...

And yet keeping information from Laharl hadn't done either of them well before, had it? But then Laharl wasn't the one in danger. Only he was, and death was an experience already had.

There is no way to win in this situation, is there? he thought to himself sadly, staring unfocusedly at the floor. "You need to go," he repeated resignedly.

If everything turned out okay, then maybe things could change. But Laharl already hated him and if that kept his son safe, then that was what had to be. Considering everything he knew he had done wrong, he could only hope that this was right.
