When Axel and Kadaj reappeared, it was within Kairi's throne room.

Axel smelt the scent of lion heavy in the air. As a predator, his senses had become acute and sharp. The moment the sense hit him, if he had a heart, it would have sunk – an ugly knot of fear formed in his stomach, and the animalistic instincts took over. He felt, instantly, the fur prick up on the back of his neck more than it already had been, and he lowered his head, emitting a savage growl.

Not only had he interfered with Axel's plans, Axel's jungle - he was TAKING Axel's princess. The offense, of course, he knew, would not go unpunished.

While Simba had also caught a sudden vicious scent in the air – a dog, of some sort, he vaguely identified – it was hard to accept that until he actually heard the growl. Gasping, Simba turned his head to look down and saw the two creatures standing on the floor of the cave, and he, too, felt something sink within him.

"Simba," Axel snarled, slowly stalking forward on those long legs, tail lifting upward and pricking, erecting itself, displaying his dominance, while his large ears pinned back against his skull, fangs baring themselves.

The lion didn't know what to do. He huffed, and looked away from him. The only thing he could do was keep on trying to climb out of the cave. He wondered who this creature is, what he wanted – why he had just so suddenly appeared out of nowhere, along with that other one.

Whoever that dog was, it gave him a really, really bad feeling. "Hold on tight," he reassured Kairi.
