Genie still did not regain Beast's eye contact. The former prince covered his face with his monstrous paw, trying to conceal his emotion from the Genie. Where months ago, before Beast came to this city, he would have lashed out at Genie in anger, demanding to know what all this was about, and what could possibly be done, now Beast merely sat, remorse keeping his tongue in check.

He had just ruined another chance. This visitor bore no malice, held no grudge, and cared not for the bestial appearance of the apartment's resident. Genie had been so kind as to go about tidying the room, returning it all to the state it held before Beast had destroyed everything. The rose...it now had a proper place, much like it had in the castle. And, even after so long here, after meeting a girl who now meant more to him than anything ever had, Beast...couldn't even express his gratitude.
