...Wishes? Why would...? Beast looked hopeful for a moment. What if the genie could make him human?! That must be why he was talking about the wishes! But just as quickly, those hopes were doused, and with them fell Beast's spirit, and his face. Oh...the lamp. Beast had expected too much.

"...Why are you telling me this?" he asked accusingly. "Is the lamp anywhere near?" The tone of the second question suggested more cynicism than curiosity. Beast felt almost betrayed, to have been given what seemed like salvation...only to have it taken away in a flash.
