A small yet pristine hand, covered carefully with a white glove, moved over the pages of a particularly difficult piece of legislature. The door to his study creaked open, snapping the Arcadian emperor from his thoughts. Metal armor clanked as it moved forward and still he did not turn to face the newcomer. The sounds alone revealed who had entered the room.

Silently, Larsa pulled the letter out from behind his back and offered it to Basch.

“The Lady Ashe wishes to see you,” the emperor told his guardian, speaking for the first time in a great while. “I do not think you should keep her waiting.”

Basch glanced up over the letter at his young lord and frowned. “But I cannot leave you here unguarded.”

“Then I shall accompany you.”

Basch opened his mouth to protest, but Larsa held up a hand and his guardian fell silent once more.

“She deserves to see you. I will not have you throw away this chance. We shall leave in a fortnight. I wish to hear no objections.”

Basch didn’t answer for a long moment as he read Penelo’s letter. “As you wish, my lord,” was the final response. Larsa offered a smile at that, glad that Basch would heed his words.

“I am glad to hear you will go. I believe it will be for the good of all.”

Keeping up alliances and friendships was always a good thing anyway, and it would be nice to see the others again. Especially Penelo. The smile on his face warmed just a little bit as he turned back to his desk to prepare for the journey. At least it didn't take him too long to get ready. He was adjusting the way his sword hung on his belt when he felt the first wave of nausea. Frowning, he pushed it away and focused on getting ready. For old time's sake, he'd convinced Basch to allow him to travel on foot. The journey would be long, but the deviation from normal would be just what Larsa needed.

Smiling to himself, he finished preparations and turned to head out for the shops to buy a few potions for the journey. His head swam right as he reached the doorway. Basch's voice echoed through the hallways, but the emperor's eyes slid shut and everything was lost.

At least until he managed to pry them open again. Nothing hurt, so he was more than certain he was still alive and uninjured. But that left the question of where was he. Blinking a little, Larsa lifted his head-

-and found himself staring at a very familiar scene. He remembered this place quite well. The gate was a different one, but everything else was similar. Heaving his small frame off the ground, Larsa turned and moved forward, waiting for his turn in line before he could take the journal presented to him. Once that was done, he stepped through the gates and began to make his way through the streets with purpose. It was time to see if he could recall exactly where Gabranth had been staying.
